This was very well known in Australia back in the day. I'm sure performed "live (mimed in front of audience)" on Countdown. If I post it to fakebook I get lots of comments like "this takes me back" and all that jazz.
RIP Steve🙏🙏🙏 Listening to some of Steve’s songs especially come up and see me make me smile We of a certain age must keep smiling😃😃😃😃🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏
This was a big hit in my youth. So it brings back a few memories. There was only one hour in the week when Toppop was on tv. I was always completely ready for it. MTV did not exist yet.
I remember him on TopPop. And before that, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel had a smaller hit song with Sebastian, such a great song too, early art rock I guess.
It's one of the most uplifting songs ever written. Sounds like Steve enjoyed himself up until the end. Vale Steve Harley RIP mate. Australia loves you.
Cannot believe you did this one Sir Combustable! I am totally gobsmacked. My Dads favourite artist ever. Even at the grand old age of 70+ he and his best mate, still go to every live gig to this day. I was just awash with emotion that you loved this. There is so much more to Steve Harley and his band Cockney Rebel. Check out Psychomodo and Best Years of our Lives just as another taster. Peace brother, love your stuff so much. And especially being ex Forces, I am there with you. Without saying too much my side.
I went to see Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel in the 70's & just loved them!! So sorry that Steve has passed away at the age of 73. He really was brilliant! RIP Steve 😥🙏😥

I'm an American lady, almost 55, and have JUST DISCOVERED this fabulous gem and I'm rather obsessed! I cannot get enough of this tune! What others are like it?
If this was in the UK, all the audience would be singing along.

Exactly Monique and I was one of them that bought it. Steve Harley was an original to me and I drove my two little kids mad playing it.

Probably the best reaction to the utter classic of this tune. RIP Steve. Thanks for the tunes. Very much appreciated.
I already love this version but your reaction makes it even better! 😀👍

His unique timing and voice is as good now as it was in the 70s..
Great version!!!!!
Lalalala. I love this
Dont care what you say Steve was a genius, plowed his own furrow and never recieved the massive recognition he deserved.
I’m glad he’s going for the upper register. The original he sang in a monotone.
"Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)" is a song by the British rock band Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, which was released in 1975.
Oh really
Something abt this songs makes me nostalgic emotional and want to get drunk with mates
This is his best performance.

I’m a lovestruck teenager again 😍
Definitely the best version ever!!!
RIP Steve
Doesn't that actually make you smile..❤
I met him once, and he was a genuinely nice guy. This song is about how some of his band members decided to split from him, then wanted back in.
If you ever get chance to see them live, DO IT.
