    As a SkySafari 6 pro user, Considering I have already paid for the extra databases, it is disappointing to learn that I am effectively asked to pay for them yet again. Apart from compatibility with newer operating systems, I see no real benefit. Can’t say I’m impressed.

      Hi Brian. The PGC, GAIA and HR diagram are free in version 7. There was an issue with Apple and the GAIA and PGC free downloads are not appearing in the Settings-In-app Downloads section. This should be corrected in the next app update which is in review by Apple right now - likely available on Monday or Tuesday. Thank you for your support!

    I watched the video and this update is a “no brainer”. A ton of value for the price and well worth it - loved all of the enhancements to make my planning and astrophotography evenings awesome. EAA is really cool with SS7 and a fast scope like RASA or Hyperstar, great job with this new version! Only request is that you create a mosaic feature or plug-in like that in telescopious. I would readily pay extra for this feature

    1. The AR implementation needs to be improved. Users should be able to point their phones to the sky and it needs to “exactly” identify the sun and moon which are the brightest in the sky and use location data to position/plate solve and align the stars. 2. Quick highlight and access to favorites. User should tap on this and all or top 5 favorites need to be highlighted in the sky. 3. One sky is of no use. 4. Skycast can be vastly improved and made more interactive with slight phone vibrations. 5. Satellite tracking would be a good addition. Where specific satellites can be selected and tracked and NOT the thousands that overcrowd the screen at once.... any one would pay $40 or more for an app like that. Not this subpar upgrade we got from the 6 Pro.

      If you want quality software, without ads and poor user experiences, paying for updates provides developers the funds they need to keep supporting the apps. Software development is time-consuming, and there is far more that goes into it than what may seem.

    Hi, I would like to know if there is an easy way for me to control my Celestron AVX mount using my Mac computer. I am currently controlling it using a PC connected to the mount with a powered USB cable, but would like to go Mac, and get away from the Celestron program. Thanks for any suggestions. I love using SkySafari 7 Pro to control my Celestron Edge HD 8... one problem I have is - many of the locations I observe from have significant obstructions. I would love it if SkySafari allowed me to use my camera to create location specific *obstruction profiles* that I could then overlay in the main sky map... this would help my observing SO MUCH. As it is now I have to guess whether or not any given object will be visible or hidden behind a tree or a building. Anyway - please add obstruction profiles to SkySafari! Thanks!

    Please fix the FOV Indicators so they take on the orientation of the sky. You used to be able to choose whether an indicator was drawn alt-az or equatorial (they are now only alt-az) but you took that away some versions ago. Give it back to us and more, as it would also be useful to have FOV Indicators in Galactic or Ecliptic orientation to help plan photo framing. Being able to turn a FOV Indicator isn’t enough, as you have to keep adjusting the rotation as you move around the sky or advance time. We don’t need all these new features. We need the old features to work.

    • @pedrobraganca1798
      @pedrobraganca1798 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Alan. I sent you an email to follow up in more detail. My understanding is that currently, an FOV Indicator always points to the Zenith (Alt Az), regardless of which coordinate system you have selected in the Coordinates popup (toggled by tapping the left side of the status bar). This has indeed been the behaviour in v6 and now in v7. I'm assuming the expectation is that the FOV indicator should point to the pole of the selected coordinate system. We'll take a look. We're also working on some new features in this area, including adding rotation handles to non-circular FOV's to make it easier to frame an object in the sky chart. Regards.

      Hi Neil, the description for this video includes the major highlights of the initial 7.0 release. Much more will be coming over the next few months and beyond. ALPACA & INDI support was a major endeavour, but even if you don't use telescope control, I hope you find some of the other features, such as the Events Finder, Tonight panel or OneSky useful. Unfortunately we do have to release an upgrade every few years (v6 was released nearly 4 years ago) to introduce new features, ideas, and keep the lights on.

      @@pedrobraganca1798 Hi. Thanks for the personal response, which I appreciate. Your new features are what drive new revenue, so your choice of what new features you add is of critical importance to “keeping the lights on”. I’m having a hard time understanding how the new non-telescope features are better than what we had before. It feels right now like you’ve slightly changed the cosmetics of what existed already and want me to pay again for that. Reading the “new features” text sounds like marketing waffle. I’m looking for concrete examples of why the new features are better than what we already had, be that a video (this video?) or a document. Can you help?

    Thinking about upgrading, but can't get any one at the developer to answer what the difference is between Pro 7 and "Premium".....I have the older basic version on iPhone and it tells me to upgrade to premium for $19.99 annual subscription, but their website offers Pro 7 for $29.99...........which is a better option?

    • @SimulationCurriculum
      @SimulationCurriculum  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for any confusion. I believe your app was upgraded free of charge from the old v6 code base to v7 recently. You can upgrade to Pro 7 or subscribe to Premium within any v7 app.
      The biggest difference between Basic and Plus/Pro versions is telescope control and larger object databases. The Premium subscription inside the v7 apps provide you with ongoing curated content on the best observing events each month (guides, articles, photos, tips/tricks, prepared simulations of events that load in your app, etc.) as well as access to all of the features at LiveSky.com. There are several other enhanced features and future development/content planned for Premium subscribers.
      If you do subscribe to Premium in V7 and then want to upgrade to a more complete version of SkySafari, you can with the subscription carrying over to the new app. Just make sure you have signed into LiveSky within the app to sync the permissions with our servers.

      Thanks for your support! We release a new version of SkySafari every few years based on user feedback and requests for new development. We have always released three versions: basic, plus and pro to best accommodate needs for different price points. Basic has never been more than $4.99 USD and has often been cheaper or free for extended periods. We upgraded V6 iOS basic users to V7 free of charge. V6 basic is still free on Android.
      You can choose to spend as little as $2.99 USD to have the latest and greatest version of the app right now. The most you could really ever spend on SkySafari traditionally in a given 2 or 3 year span was about $50 - $60.
      With the added optional subscription to curated content, data streaming/storage services, etc. the average support one can provide to SkySafari if they opt into all offerings is perhaps twice that amount, again over a 2-3 year period. In an industry that has seen already high costs for telescopes, accessories, etc. go markedly higher, we feel SkySafari offers an excellent value proposition for beginners and professional observers.
