- JFK Airport NYC's Terminal 1 is known affectionately as "The UN Terminal" because it only houses international carriers. There are no American carriers in Terminal 1.
Also, while this makes for an exciting international experience--it can also make you feel cramped and cranky. That's because Terminal 1 is a small terminal with only 12 gates and houses over 25 international air carriers, some large but many more that are small with specific days and times they fly.
This means there are always flights at terminal 1 using the 12 gates-which means people, people, and more people!
Come and discover the things about Terminal 1 that you need to know so you can keep your sanity and enjoy your flight!

Love the old school red carpet at the Turkish Airlines Lounge! 🤭
@glennfischer8894 I know...I was tempted to use my Priority Pass to access it to see if they had any Turkish Delight but ultimately picked the Lufthansa Lounge...
Air France lounge has the best food of all the JFK lounges I've visited. Absolutely delicious. Korean Lounge is great and has very good selection of drinks. Turkish lounge is an overcrowded dump, avoid at all costs.
@mytrailblazingadventures Thank you for sharing! I was at The Lufthansa Lounge which was small and crowded, but the food was good! I'm putting together my review. Thanks again for sharing about your lounge experiences! 🏆🏆🏆
Correction: For wheelchair request, it has to be requested at the ticket counter where you check in for your flight not at the gate where you board the plane.
@@siriwongyuktasevi7363 Yes, the ticket gate, sorry for any confusion.
