American know how and technical genius....the epitome of the lowly "player" piano ....taken to a whole new level ..back then.
We grew up with a player piano in the 1970s and it always ended up being played when we had company over. I really do miss it and thank you for sharing yours. Nothing beats the tunes back then.
The greatest period of ballad songwriters played on a top player piano, wonderful!
These are perhaps some of the most sensitively-arranged piano pieces ever heard on a reproducing piano. Genuine musicianship shines through the mechanics in great fashion.
A man named Merton Bobo, who was a WW2 vet and died in 2017, had this as the only song on his TH-cam playlist. I found him in a comment section of the Harry Roy song "she lost it at the Astor". I'm now his only subscriber. Thanks Merton.
Kudos to whoever rebuilt this player piano. It's a first-rate job as well as being perfectly tuned. Thanks to the current owner who was kind enough to share this magnificent work of superb craftsmanship with us. Thank you.
Still, this is one of the best reproducing AMPICO s on line!!
Can't go wrong with that! Thanx, and glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice and beautiful sound piano. Thank you for sharing.
Once again; how perfectly delightful!
Bravo very good restauration of this instrument
Just...wow...I want one! 😆
Very nicely done video. That piano is great (and in tune!)! We used to have a player piano when I was a kid.
Gladdens the heart and rainy days. Lovely.
nice collection of songs. Paul Rickenbach was my grandfather.
Amazing quality! The instrument even LOOKS in mint condition! I enjoy the music played at 0.75 speed. It doesn't sound so frenetic.
Your videos are great, I have downloaded some in mp3 format for enjoying whenever I want.
-Thanks for uploading!
Love it! So relaxing....
Thank you John for another great JUMBO roll!!!
yes a lovely roll, cannot beat a good Ampico either......Brian Marland Hastings UK.
Awesome!
Someone further down in the comments suggested playing "As Time Goes By" at 0.75 speed.. at first I was gonna leave a smart-a$$ comment.. but, instead, I decided to try it.. I LIKE IT at that speed!
You are most welcome! Thanx, for your kind comment. Enjoy!
Thanx, for your kind comment. Enjoy!
Very nice
Super sounding AMPICO piano. I think new bass strings would make it even better!
The strings were replaced.

hear from familys of pianists from the long past!
Thanx, glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed it so much , i love this! thank you
HOW DOES THAT ROLL FIT IN THE SPOOL BOX???!!!
I play many of my rolls slower, that I think brings out the melody
better, and easier to sing to. Many of the tempo stamps to me
seem too fast. When I spliced these rolls together, I had to check
the tempo on each First, to decide which would go where.
Do you have any videos talking about how you spliced the rolls together? Or any resources you used for information/support?
Wow
I liked "As Time Goes By" on speed of .75 It's how I would play it. Otherwise it's too fast for that tune.
Can someone tell me where I can get these HUGE rolls?
For me- this piano is the "gem" of "gems" on TH-cam. Just out of curiosity where are you located?
uncle louie, HI, these were my dad's pianos his pride and joy. He lived in Connecticut USA.
I am confused. This is an AMPICO but seems to have DUO-ART tracking ears.
Ampicos had tracking ears.
how did you create that video if u don't mind me asking
A video camera with 2 Mono mics. The rest tells itself. Mics are adjusted for overloudness.
that's actual footage?! i swear i thought that was computer graphics
No, That is the real thing! I have 3 reproducing pianos all in one room! Check them out!
