      The serene melody that repeats 3 times during the third* movement is transcendent in it's beauty. I'm biased because I like this song so much, but I believe that it is the single most beautiful melody that I've ever heard. edit: accidentally wrote 2nd

Liebe Martha, DANKE DIR VOM GANZEN HERZEN!!!!!

    It's always a treat to watch Martha's hands when she plays. She violates every rule in the keyboard book. Her hands are fairly flat, and she often moves her hands at a 45 degree angle to the keys, not parallel to them. She also slaps notes here and there, and uses two fingers on a single key for emphasis. I had the pleasure of shaking her hand several years back. It felt
    somewhat large, and a bit worn like a factory worker or domestic housekeeper who works with her hands. But then, what does a pianist do but work with her hands for a living? After shaking a wide range of so many different kinds of accomplished pianists' hands, I came to realize that the type of hand is not so important, because it is the brain and the heart that actually play the piano.

      There shouldn't be strict rules. Piano technique is correct until you have trouble with it, if she can play like that, then it's her correct technique (of course there are still some limits to that).

      I was thinking the same thing about her fingers. Like Horowitz..

    • @jennifer86010
      @jennifer86010 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@geschwitz4 Horowitz had very long, slim fingers, totally unlike Martha's. His hands were described as looking like a fine race horse when he was playing. But in fact, his fingers may have been too long, because I noticed that he had to arch his fingers a great deal when playing. Ideal keyboard hands are those which fit the ratio distance between the end of the white keys and the tops of the black keys without having to reconstruct hand
      shapes quickly. Regardless of hand and finger shapes, I've heard virtuoso piano playing come from little baby fingers, big thick fat sausage fingers, short stubby fingers, long skinny fingers, very feminine hands, rough tough macho hands the size of a catcher's mit, and everything in between...and at all ages.

    Jouer comme on respire ! L'immense talent de Martha Argerich s'efface devant la sensibilité, la rêverie et l'emotion suscitées par cette sonate ! Ce jeu toujours renouvelé est la marque de cette artiste qui ne cesse de nous enchanter et nous surprendre ! Sans aucun doute La pianiste de la fin du XXeme et de ce debut de XXIeme ! Il faut l'avoir entendue sur scène pour connaître la joie de la musique ! Merci , Madame Argerich, et continuez à nous épater !

      romadrina pensé exactamente lo mismo. Tan Bella Martha. Tocando para nosotros sabiendo que no podemos estar allí para aplaudirla pero igual entrega una versión magistral de la sonata. Y esa mirada al final, como dices, arropa toda la tristeza que embarga al mundo. Martha es una Milonga hermosa.

    Amazing! Having always recognised her brilliance and rightful place in the top branches of performing arts, Martha's Chopin has never really done it for me; I always felt she was rushing the tempi and not allowing the music time to breathe but here and now she seems to be doing just that, with a more thoughtful and measured reading of this sonata. Long may she continue to move us.

    Ce qui me fascine chez Argerich, chez toutes grandes interprètes d'ailleurs, c'est qu'elle saisit le lien interne de chacun des mouvements entre eux, elle saisit l'unité de l'oeuvre, de sorte que l'ensemble est harmonieux, si bien que nous, les auditrices, sommes conviées à demeurer tout le long au coeur battant de l'oeuvre au lieu d'en lâcher le fil.

      @@MarkFarago OK for Chopin. But in this case why not the polonaise op 44, the 1st ou 4th scherzo, the 2nd or 4th ballade, some nocturnes or etudes she has not already played ?
