It's amazing that I found your channel. I grew up in MI and now live in GA. Hearing that you went to every shop in MI warmed my heart. I live in the Monroe, GA area. Bizarro Wuxley is my back issue shop when I go hunting. Although the layout makes me feel more like I'm in a haunted house filled with twisted corridors. I believe the record store below is owned by the same person. My other favorites in my area are Infinite Realities and Galactic Quest.
Inner Nerd is also great, but I think it needs more time before it's up and fully searchable. I don't get out that way very often, but it's definitely a cool idea.
I'm a bit particular on back issue organization, for me I like to see series like Spider-Man broken down into Amazing, Spectacular, Web of, etc. If it's just "Spider-Man" all tossed in the S section it drives me crazy. Love the Lawrenceville - Galactic Quest location but I would probably ding them a point for the categorization. That's just personal preference, but wanted to give my 2 cents.
When I first moved to GA, Dr. Nos was my local comic shop. To this day, it's where I go when I want to find a specific issue or graphic novel. I found "Extreme Sacrifice" by Image there. I didn't think that graphic novel existed!
I use to Frequent Galactic Quest when I lived in Buford. Kyle the owner is an awesome guy and very involved in the community! Tops when it comes to awesome shops!!
Hey just wanted to offer a suggestion. Consider adding a map with a highlighted point/star when you visit each shop. Part of my interest in this video was seeing comic shops near me and seeing where each one is on the map is very useful. Good video, thanks!
I miss Savannah so damn much. I will say though, never liked Odin and Sons. The owner always treated me like a child and I never liked how corporate it felt. My best friend worked there and he had some pretty negative experiences with the owner as well. Planet Fun was my main squeeze, and I graduated when Neighborhood Comics was fairly new so I'd love to see it now! Savannah Comics and More was also awesome, and I would treat myself to a visit whenever I did good on an assignment since it was a bit out of the way, but the selection was always insane. Thanks for your hard work, it's always great to visit these shops vicariously through you!
I love galactic comics and games in Statesboro, but it has been exactly what you saw and sometimes worse for several years now. It wasn't always that way, and I don't go in too often much anymore because the clutter makes me anxious. I tend to stick to the shops in Savannah when I have the chance, but I hate not being comfortable in my local shop.
I’m an Atlanta resident so I was so excited to see this pop up on my feed. I wound up discovering so many GA treasure troves just from this one video, so I’m excited to see your entire series. Keep up the great work man, you’ve definitely earned yourself and enthused subscriber today!
Fantastic as I watched the videos on the comic shops in Michigan and seeing my favorite shop, Dr Nos and Cliff in the opener made me smile. The staff and how they interact with customers is a big reason why I like going to the store. Thanks for making this!
@@KurtWilliamsReviews Quest would do something like that to keep themselves from getting free exposure. I frequent regularly for TCG tournaments. The shop is massive and the comic collection is the large majority of it. It's family run which is great... until it comes to business decisions that generate growth.
@@KurtWilliamsReviews Quest was my go-to shop when I was in high school and college. I recently went by and picked up some TPBs. I didn't think about it then, but I don't remember seeing a lot of newer issues, but there were some. Greg and his family are awesome. I suppose they are putting most of their resources into gaming now. I just set up my pull list with Dave's. I live just south of Fayetteville and they are the closest to me. They have a huge selection of everything and even put me onto some things I didn't know about.
I left Carrollton around 15 years ago. I totally forgot about Quest but I loved it when I was younger, in their old location. I never really liked the new location. I frequented Dr. No's when we lived up there. It's still my favorite shop.
@@KurtWilliamsReviews Quest is actually really cool and of course people can set up pulls there if they want new issues. They do sell primarily TPBs but they do stay pretty current with them, they just don't keep many new issues in stock, just a few on the counter by checkout. Their selection is pretty extensive though if you do decide to check them out. BTW there's also Visions in Rockmart that sells new issues and has plenty of gaming stuff as well as TPBs. And there's also Oxford comics in Atlanta and Syndicate comics in Kennesaw. Both of those are great don't be fooled by the fact that syndicate is inside of an antique store, they basically have a whole shop in there and the staff are great.
Woo! Shout out to Galactic in Statesboro! They may not be number one overall but they're number one in my heart. Mainly because they're the closest one to me.
Wow, we have two here in Dalton GA. The Fantasy Factory and Battlegrounds Comics and Games but neither were on the list. Look forward to seeing in part 2.
This was so so so cool. I'm an indie comic creator trying to promote my work and used this to get the sense of the inside of the shops before sending them promo material for my comic. So this was super useful (like helped me focus on some specific stores over others, ones that specifically cater to indie comics over ones that are like more of a game shop). Anyways, THANKS so much for this. Instant sub.
I live in Tifton and have been a customer of Gray Ghost for years. One of the best things about GG is the staff. Andrew and Scott are two of the friendliest most likeable people you'll ever want to meet. Don't know if you had time to stop in at The Zone while you were in Tifton. They don't sell new issues. So, it might not have been on your list, but they have one of the most extensive inventories of back issues, toys, gaming stuff and all-around cool stuff that you could hope for.
8:36 - Kurt, that "thing" at Bizarro Wuxtry is a pachinko machine. It's a mechanical game kind of like pinball that was popular in Japan. Thanks for the tour, it was insane! Some of those shops blew me away! Looking forward to part 2!
fun fact! The table at Galactic Quest (Lawrenceville Location) that is seen right in the front window was donated by my family when we moved back in 2023!
I love the idea and challenge to visit all comic shops in a state . I live in NY, and it would be a big challenge, but it would be a lot of fun . I have never been to Georgia but the comic shops seem awesome! Can't wait for your next comic adventure!
Man you are basically living my dream. I have always wanted to go state to state with a mini van packed with empty short boxes that I fill up with books I want from each shop.
Dr. No's baby! My FLCS for all my life until I moved to Chicago. Still go there every time I am back home for the holidays, special occasions though. It's simply the best comic shop I have ever been in.
Great video! Long time north GA local here, all the shops Atlanta and upwards are fine for weekly pulls, but they all suck for deals on keys. Everybody is charging ebay prices and then some 😂 Dr. No’s does fun FCBD signings (I’ve gotten several Bagley sketches out of it) and Kapow was great before they transitioned to more of the RPG and tabletop games instead of comics some years back. I’m still waiting on a great local comic shop in the Atlanta metro area. The conventions are fun though! I set up at Cartersville Comic Con about a month back and made some deals. I also always hit up Atlanta Comic Convention and several local shows for deals on keys. The day shows here are way better on key issue prices.
When your ready to tour Alabama comic shops, come start with mine! LFG! Comic and Game in Attalla, AL. Just took it over last month and am in the process of overhauling it!
Went to Bizarro Wuxtry a few times when I lived in Athens. Reallyyyy didn't take advantage of it enough, really cool shop. I was also pretty broke at that time so...I got what I could. The shop I go to now wasn't here, looking forward to seeing it in part 2!
My local shop now is My Parents Basement, hope they're in Part 2! Also, excited for Fantasy Factory! I lived near their 2nd location off Cloud Springs a long time ago. Unfortunately they closed that location, but it got me into comics as a kid right when Civil War was happening
I used to work at a comic store that is no longer open in Macon, but I'm glad they weren't open because it would have gotten a very low score. Some solid shops I use when traveling in Georgia is Dave's Comics & Collectibles in Fayetteville and Bunjee's Comics in Griffin. If you ever get an opportunity to check those out, I recommend them.
@KurtWilliamsReviews Obviously the last visit will be my last one. They still have their Ebay store and it has been about a year since my last visit. I would have been upset to drive up there to see They were closed.
Visited my local shop Heroes Comics in Newnan! I'm Glad you enjoyed it! The selection is pretty overwhelming. Even though im a manga guy and their selection of manga is sparse I always walk out with a couple of comics I couldn't pass up lol
Love Dr.No’s. Been my LCS for 8 yrs now. Just moved but still drive 45 mins to pick up every week. Shoutout to the best Izzy,Buck,Tom,Shelly and Cliff!

Love the reviews/spotlights. Columbus Comics should’ve been rated higher. They do so many events with. The local colleges, Coca Cola Science center, and other local small gaming shops. And I love how organized the store is. He has downsized a lot over the years but still has awesome selections
Galactic comics and games is an empty shell of it’s former self. The store use to be awesome. Now it’s a garbage dump of stuff no one wants to buy. I hope the owner realizes that all his actions lately do nothing but drive people away…
Greetings from Waycross... You've officially lived the Waycross experience getting stuck behind that train. We used to have a yearly town holiday called "Pogofest", but they stopped. Something about the guy who created the comic's family revoking the rights for the city to do it. They do have his original books on display at the public library though.
He mentioned it was just before the hurricane helena was coming and chuck probably was getting the store prepped for it since it was pretty bad. So i can understand not wanting anyone filming the store and talking to anyone while your trying to get ready for it.
I used 2 go 2 galactic quest Burford & stayed with them for about 6 years because Kyle was cool & I had this idea I had 2 support brick&mortar stores but it was 40 min away & they missed about 70 issues in those 6 years.
Mountain Man and Battleground comics are great. I wish Battleground had more comics, but what they don’t have in comics they make up in action figures.
