    Thank you
    Hi
This Astra came to me in a really bad shape...
Multiple faults for misfiring etc... and running quite poorly...
In this first video for this car, I will tackle the first set of faults, in the end, you will see I was left with only one fault, P0170...
A separate video will be out for that fault, stay tuned, or search my channel...
    Hope you enjoy.
Any questions or comments put them below.
Like always, thank you for watching!

Love these vlogs. Always find them really useful. Been a follower for a few years. It was by watching you replace an ECU in a Vauxhall Meriva, which gave me the confidence to replace mine as I had endless faults coming up on the scan. After fitting the new ecu, following your instruction, I have never had a better running car. These vlogs are worth their waiting gold..

Great video, I know this engine well as it’s in my Vectra that I’ve had for a long time. The engine running lumpy was likely down to the coil pack and plug as the coil pack go on these. Unlikely the solenoid caused it but was clearly an issue with the oil leak. Be interested in the next video to come of this as it’s not a problem I’ve had but likely will some day. If you’re stumped on anything with these engines drop me a message as I might be able to help with the fixes I’ve done over the past 12 years of owning one

Just done a coil pack on a Vauxhall Corsa with an A14XER engine. The fuse like thing at the top of the springs on the coil pack (radio interference suppressor) gets corrosion and goes open circuit. Checked the coils on the coil pack with a multimeter and they seemed good; the coil pack is a delphi original so don't really want to replace it with a inferior compatible part; so got a new set of springs for £9 and that has done the job! Those GM coil packs are notorious for failures and I suspect most of the issues are those radio interference coils (the wire on the coil is really thin). Forgot to mention: some muppet had destroyed the locking tab on the coil connector so had to put a cable tie around it to hold it inplace.
Look forward to the follow up video!

The valves burn out due to a lean fuel mixture, I have converted all my cars to LPG over the last 9 years, many of them Vauxhalls. To stop the coilpacks from going faulty the sparkplug gap needs to be made smaller, down to around 0.8mm. As for the camshaft sensor, thats just one of thoses things, LPG wont cause that sensor to fail, infact LPG fuel keeps the oil cleaner for longer. One of the biggest problems with theses engines is the MAF sensor under reading and causing a lean mixture. on the A16XER engine the PCV valve failing. That is part of the rocker cover and when that fails it causes a massive air leak and thus a very lean mixture.

  • @MrMoss786
    @MrMoss786 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I'm guessing for the next video the fuel mixture problem is caused by an air vacuum leak somewhere. No more temperature gauges on cars, i see its becoming more and more common. Obrigado for the video Luis, really enjoyed seeing you bring this one back from such poor running condition :)

In my opinion, the engine is running more smoothly but by no means perfectly. There is a constant fast knocking noise which will be coming from the camshaft gears. They control the Variable Valve Timing, VVT, using oil pressure and they are not working correctly on this engine. Great start though, this engine had numerous issues!

I don't like this engine,it seems to eat head gaskets, the Z18XE's a better engine.

No I don't... but got it fixed...
But I don't know what I am doing...
      🤦‍♂️
At least you now learned something... which I am sure was the reason you came watching this type of videos...
Do you have a problem with your car?
      Good luck fixing it...
      Still, thank you for watching!

@@LMAutoRepairs no I have not watch just scroll it ... and I have not learned anything from it sorry... just that you look on a vvt actuator with an o-ring on it and you say that is missing the sealing .. so for sure you don't know what are you doing..
