The Differences Between the ATC 185 & ATC 200's (1980 - 1983)

  • A couple weeks ago I got a text message that led to me filling another void in my collection. A local friend, who also collects, texted me a lead for a 1981 ATC 200. Not the sexiest machine that Honda ever made... but one that I needed. Through a little help from my cousin who lived near the seller, the machine was bought and paid for in under 5 hours from that initial text.
    After I got the machine home, I realized it was a good opportunity to do a side by side comparison of the other ATC 200's years, and also the odd duck 1980 ATC 185, a 1 year only machine that was made in Orange, not red. It's interesting to see how Honda subtly changed these machines each year. I'm sure there is plenty of things I've missed as I am not nearly as intimate with these models as I am with the 350X or 250R. Feel free to comment and share any knowledge you may have on these machines!!

    This video takes me back to 80's,,,, in my neighborhood it was common to see these 3 wheelers running up and down the street usually with cop following. My best friend had 81 Honda atc and my father came home with a 82 Yamaha Tri Moto,,, man did we have a good time with these machines.

I love that you have a passion like me on Honda ATC’s. Ok u are winning.😜 but I would have more if I had the room to keep them. My plan one day is to have a huge 40x60 shop to really get serious about them. My current 3 car garage, I just got done dumping a lot of money into to make it a Honda ATC showroom/garage. • @ThisOldTrike
      @ThisOldTrike  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So that machine will take a seat from a 1982-1984 Big Red OR a 1984/85 200M. The 82 & 83 have metal pans with a seam on the seat. The 84/85's have plastic pans with seamless seats... I think I may have a spare seat actually. I bought it from a buddy and he is supposed to drop it off next time he is out my way, but I don't have it yet... I believe that you're wrong on the compression release on the 1981. I think it's supposed to be a manual release. The 1918 ATC200 I picked up for parts a few years back had a manual compression release. Also the picture that you showed from the brochure for the 1981 showed a manual compression release. That may be a different rocker cover or even a totally different engine.
