First, I'm new to your channel and website. I appreciate all of it. Good job. Second, I'm kind of in between beginner tanking and trials. I haven't done any trials yet. My wife and I duo everything so we haven't done trials yet. We're working our way through version 2 dungeons and veteran dungeons right now. We're both Templars. Do you have some recommendations for gear sets post-beginner but pre-trial, or will the beginner sets carry a tank through normal mode trials? Also, how would I go about getting in to a trial as a newer tank. Thank you again!

My biggest issue is, I almost always run out of Magicka. So I have to put about half points into Magicka. At least when I'm starting out. But I tend to rely heavily on my staff (mostly ice) rather than other weapons. I'm trying to train myself on other weapons, but for some reason I keep going back to the staff. I think I'm trying to play a magicka based tank...which I think is an almost impossible combo later in the game. And I think it's because when I started playing 9 months ago I played all magicka roles. Thanks for this video. Good info!

Hey man, you got to learn to switch back to sword and board. Most of your utility spells are mag so it drains real quick. I love the staff bar too but thats not how to play. You'll get there

The first thing I would do is not keep ramping up your Magicka but rather make sure you are NOT using the Destruction Staff Tri-Focus passive and then try to boost your Magicka recovery to 1.5-2k and if you combine that with the Mage Guild Balance Skill then you should rarely suffer with Magicka related issues.

I personnaly prefere the health regen route with something like Elessian Order, Eternal Vigor, Mighty Chudan. This allows you to get 30K armour without any CP or passive or traits and get tons of passive sustain. It might look very selfish at first, but with :
    - Mighty Chudan, you get a free spot for a buff like Molten Armement
    - High health regen, you have to spend less magicka into self healing abilities like Green Dragon Blood, and can spend more magicka on crowdcontrol and team buffs.
    - Major Fortitude gives you a ton of extra self sustain on this build aswell with a single click.

Conversely, your healers will be mad at you in a vcr3 when they have to heal 45k plus health when hit with baneful at execute

Good explanation! I would definitely prefer a little more stamina(25-26k since I still lack of some seconds in perfect tanking) and would go with around 20k magicka then. 45k health is really good but if you chose other sets(which probably were not intended as tank sets and have no health) that Stat can easily fall to 40k which is still a working number. Don't forget this above is all my experience and is not the law of tanking.

Yes that's why I always keep my points into health and apply different glyphs if needed onto the gear to reach the stats I need/want for each particular gear set, just makes sure I can keep some level of consistency and balance and don't have to change stuff because its already set up how I need it.

@@TheTankClub yes, always trying to get the same stats with different bonus giving sets. Glyphs on armor are good for exchanges

He suggests 38k as a minimum

Basically look at Red CP - Unslot Boundless Vitality and use Strategic Reserve instead. Don't go higher than 40k for vCR if you are the execute Tank.

For VCR it's also common to swap food in execute to further help healers. As TC says, swap the slotted red CP and also, when execute starts, swap food. This will allow you to have decent health for the whole fight but low when it's needed (in execute).
Even off tanks should do this.
Jagga-Drenched Mud Ball is a nice food in order to achieve this as very cheap and boosts magicka+stamina for 4500 each but no health. With these 2 tweaks you should drop ~10k or so which will greatly help your healers when they need to remove Baneful Mark

In terms of resistances and recoveries - are the stats here what you would roughly recommend? I realise you will go into more detail in other videos.

He's said in other videos that 28k to 30k resistances is approx the sweet spot in his opinion
