Hi Dr. Linkov, Thank you for the great and informative video. I am currently researching cheek implants as an augmentative approach to enhance my cheeks. I am 39 years old and have been getting minimal amounts of fillers in my cheeks for the last few years with great results. Unfortunately, last year, I had some filler that ended up forming into a granuloma and I was advised to dissolve the granuloma with hyaluronidase. The hyaluronidase that was injected to dissolve the granuloma ended up affecting my natural tissues and lead to a really sunken look as well as significant skin laxity (The areas of my face that were affected were the lateral cheeks, as well as the inner portion of my left cheek). I am currently looking at different ways to correct the volume loss. I was initially looking into fat grafting, but I'm not comfortable with the unpredictability of the results from fat transfer, and the fact that in some cases the procedure needs to be done more then once. I am interested in looking at implants as a possible option. Can you let me know a bit about the length of recovery following the cheek implants, as well as how long it takes to see the final results? Also, are the cheek implants completely permanent, or is it possible to adjust them or remove them in case of complications? Thank you

What the guy says about jaw surgery is so true. Lower part of midface is moved forward but the rest remains. I had DJS for class 3 (maxillary hypoplasia) for functional and aesthetic reasons and I almost look worse. Cheek definition and volume is definitely worse looking now that the rest of the face had been moved forward.

100%. this was my experience too. DJS for underbite left me with a flat face at 19 that looked so bad. Just had cheek implants and mid facelift two years later at 21. One week out from the procedure and look so much better already.

@@FuntoKomolafe1111 awesome man. I’m thinking about doing it but honestly most the results I see are pretty underwhelming or sometimes uncanny but that’s probably only because of overzealous patients. Personally it’s not so bad for me since I asked for a conservative upper jaw advancement but it’s still worse than I would have liked.

I've been down a huge financial and emotional ride with fillers and with a failed fat transfer to my facial cheeks that has left me with facial asymmetry that is noticeable. I did not have aysmetry that was noticeable until the facial fat transfer.. The cost financially and emotionally for fiilers (including Sculptra) has been huge and resulted in no volume increase to one side of my face. Ironic since I did the fat transfer to avoid all this with fillers! It did not take on one side of my face-hence, leaving me with more volume on one side of my face. It has been over 9 years with no chang;e. Would love to know of any updates, improvements with either cheek impants or thoughts.

@@lisahilton9616 have you found a solution? 😞 was there a doctor able to help your asymmetry?💕
i’ve had a fat transfer too but only a tiny amount of fat stayed & i still look very gaunt..
i have a very fast metabolism and my body goes through 1 ml of filler in one week
different injectors said they never saw something like this before :(
i just want to be pretty for once in my life!! & have people stop asking me if im sick or suffering from anorexia..

How can orgnathic maxilla advancement help? I'm getting a Le Forte I osteotomy at the end of the year, and I've heard that this can make your cheekbones looker flatter rather than fuller or more prominent. I'm a bit confused here 🤔

I got medpore cheek implants and I thought I liked it but I hate my side profile and didn’t feel like I needed it and I’m in my early 30s. I’m planning on getting them removed:

Dr. Linkov, why can’t you use donor bone? Isn’t it more long lasting and natural with a minimal chance of migrating and other side effects?

Don't the implants get incorporated into the bone over time, so removing them would be problematic?

@@kakterlalql2384 Medpor does, silicone does not. Medpor is porous, so the soft tissue (not really the bone) grows into the holes, which means the implant is secured in its place without screws. The problem arises if the patient decides for whatever reason they no longer want the implant. Due to the soft tissues growing into the implant, it's hard to cut out. Silicone does not get incorporated, so it can be taken out easily. However, this also means that it always has to be secured with screws as it can otherwise migrate.
