    Honestly I am not sure that Hua is the the type of singers made for vocal coaches or teachers to evaluate. He himself never considers his voice as a priority in a piece of work. His voice only serves the attitude, the philosophy, the artistry of his music, as after all he is a composer. That being said he is no doubt an excellent singer too, just not so « academic ».

    • @Wkd183
      @Wkd183 4 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Well said. Hua admits his vocal technique is not correct, but feels the essence of the emotions is more important to his performance. I love that he does use his vocals to emit all kinds of feelings along with his stage presence. None like him, that's why I love watching him.

      Let the vocal coaches speak their mind from a professional perspective. We can always inform them why Hua Hua is like this & like that. We can offer our knowledge of Hua Hua to make it more interesting. I'd rather that than false analyses & false praises by some reactors just to attract traffic to their channels. His singing has improved tremendously since his debut, which means he is doing some vocal training, in his own way hahaha knowing him. Good for him.

    • @yaa5603
      @yaa5603 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Agree totally. Hua Hua is not a conventional singer in the mode of voice training. He is first and foremost a composer and he focuses more on expressing his ideas and feelings! He mentioned several times that he didn’t care as much his singing technique because he felt that if he sang with the proper technique, he lost the ability to express himself fully. To him, his voice is like one of the many instruments in this world to serve the purpose of the composed songs! That is why sometimes he imitated the sounds of cub-an ancient Chinese instrument in his songs (e. g. New World and Seven Personalities)!

    Hua Chenyu is exactly an alien. His singing skills are different because his voice is used to serve the music. Not the general academic singing method. His purpose is to express the emotion perfectly. Every performances he is really into the music. He is one of the most unique artist who deserves admiration.

    Great reaction video!
    Looking forward to more reactions on him.
    He uses a lot of his own øre recorded backing when it's needed, it seems like you say, to fall back on, and also make the sound richer. Be uses it a lot on his rapp to creat this effect. But sometimes he also uses bakup singers.
    And btw, this is the opening of a all girls talent show, where he was a judge/mentor. Thats why there is only girls in the audience.
    Could you react to his 7 personalities song? Og is his own.

    Hua Chenyu’s technique of singing is ‘false’, and he knew about it. His teachers in college wanted him to fix that however, Huahua had set his own principles above anything or everyone else. Hua is a perfectionist in composing, in order to put the right emotions the way he wanted, to tell the stories he wanted to add to his own composed music, he pushed aside the ‘correct’ singing technique. From his college teachers, to his singing competition mentors, all had pushed to bettering Huahua’s singing technique but Hua never followed. Hua acknowledged himself more as a composer. And he’s very gifted one, he’s truly a musical genius.
    To see this part of him, I guess you should check out his ‘Fake Monk’ performance. But make sure you have the english subtitle on! Here’s the link so it’ll be easier for you to find th-cam.com/video/wpwo-rOqP-Q/w-d-xo.html . So looking forward for your thoughts and review of this Fake Monk performance!

      I think saying his singing technique is false is not right. He has the technique, he will choose to use or not to use the proper technique taught by vocal coaches. He is very smart and will optimise his voice in his own way that will not harm him even though most vocal coach will be against such ways hahaha He is such a rebellious soul, love him to bits.

      Nocturnal Owl perhaps I worded that wrong, according to the books and lessons some of his techniques are indeed false, but hua does make it work beyond the ones following the books’ expectations! and i completely agree, the way he’s creating his own techniques of singing is the reason why it made him so incredibly unique and so hard for many people to found a singer like him. a voice that showed so much emotion lurking behind melodies. things that not many great singers do. he’s so brilliant and never failed to amaze me.

    • @nocturnalowl5867

      @@LeaVionne Perhaps a better expression is unorthodox or unconventional. He certainly uses the oft taught vocal techniques and I totally agree that his emotive ability is so sincere and done with conviction that some other singers just fall short. The old fashioned flapping & extending arms, a bit of prancing & jiggling are still used by some in Singer 2020 😂😂😂

    Hua did a song " I don't Care" on SINGER 2018. This is one of his best rocker songs. Really good song he also wrote..
    He just won SINGER 2020. Someone below mentioned "Contra in the Wild".from 2020 show. He sings that
    with only a guitarist.
    The show you watched with him singing Alien with all the women had something to do with recruiting women for
    something. His Mars concerts are huge like 90,000 people. There are men but of course more women..
    There is a song called "Kings and Beggars" That he starts singing and the audience sings the whole song and he plays the piano and laughs. It is amazing. He is my favorite singer because he is so versatile.
    I do love Dimash, SoHyang, Chris Stapelton "Tennessee Whishey". I do not think you have covered him. There is an Aussi
    named Matt Corby who is really good. "Brother" is one of his. i just discovered Park Shoyshin who is from Korea and one of
    his songs is "WildFlower". Too much time on our hands.

    Thanks for your professional reaction videos on Hua Chenyu!!! I love all of Hua's performances 'cause they all are extraordinarily amazing, from his singing skills, his voice, his ideas to design every details of the stage, to the way he conveys his attitude and messages in the songs. Hua always considers his voice as an element in a whole song, so his voice and singing techniques (even they are intentionally made false) are not the only thing to adore when we enjoy his music. I feel like there are lots of things to comment even when we randomly choose any from his performances, but I'd like to recommend "7 personalities" at his Mars Concert 2020 (it's just a fancam video) or at Singer 2020 Finale (for better sound quality).

    Thanks for your reaction Matt, Hua Hua is my favorite artist so I'm kind of biased, I love this song and video but I don't think it's the right one to react to. This performance was made as intro to a show where Hua is a mentor to young singers, that's why I agree that it might be a little "over performed". I wish that you'd react to his recent performances on Singer 2020, he just won it and sang all his own songs except one cover, that's how you could better appreciate his voice, singing, creativity I think...

      Sorry, this is a bit late, but from what I have seen Hua isn't against using post-production in his songs. He usually has his team of musicians singing and playing live as well. But layering his voice to make his voice, or the sound fuller or adding some part to the song that he cant create by his own voice is something he does often. And he even helped one of the contestants by having the engineers layer some parts of her voice to make it sound fuller.

      關於這首歌《七重人格(哥譚)》
      華晨宇:因為這個歌⋯我還要講一下,它這個歌其實非常難。首先我要介紹這首歌的名字叫《七重人格》。當時在編曲的時候,非常考驗製作人,也很考驗填詞的人。因為我自己在寫的時候,我把自己⋯其實很痛苦,因為我要把我每一重性格,都要把它完全拿出來,然後把它,放到極致,然後寫,然後把它退回去,再把另一種性格拿出來,再把它⋯再來去寫另一段。然後編曲就很難,因為不是要寫七首歌,不要要編七首歌,而是要七種不同的東西混在一起,要把它變成讓你們覺得它還是一個完整的音樂。所以我覺得這個歌,於我而言,它是一個非常厲害的歌。真的什麼言語都沒辦法去形容,很難去形容這首歌,你們聽就好了。
      華晨宇:我其實,我這首歌是我,我們演唱會所有的歌裡面,唯一的一首,我們基本上沒有怎麼彩排過,因為我自己不太敢唱這首歌,因為剛剛《七重人格》那首歌是,我每唱一次,其實有一種在去自己...怎麼講,就是很傷害我的元氣,每唱一次就傷一次自己的元氣,而且很傷人的感覺。但是我覺得剛剛我還感覺自己唱得非常的投入,希望你們喜歡這樣的一首歌。然後這首歌讓你們感受到要好好的愛惜自己的身體,保護自己的精神世界。同樣也希望你們能夠遇到身邊有一些,情緒或者精神上狀態不是太好的朋友,也希望你們可以去關心他們。

    The reason it's all girls and a relatively short song is because it's a clip from the opening segment of a Chinese singing show called "The Coming One", where six judges/mentors(Including Hua Chenyu) mentor a bunch of girls in singing/songwriting/dancing/composing over the span of 3 months. Four of the six mentors are current performers, and each did a short song performance to kick off the program.

    You may try his perfornance for the final of Singer 2018, which I believe was broadcast live and had less tweaking of post production effect. He rearranged that song, the original singer being the lady who was also a participant in Singer 2018, made it his own. Let me try to leave you a link later.
    BTW, his name Hua is said like "hoo-ah", the H isn't silent. About his vocal technique, he knows he isn't the best model student 😄😄 and explained that if he sings like how his vocal teachers insisted when he was in music school, he wasn't able to feel the soul of the music & song to express freely. If that continues, he may lose interest & passion & give up music entirely. He said if one day his vocal fails him & he could no longer sing, so be it. Better to sing with passion, love & free spirit for a short time than whatever the outcone if he had acquiesced to his vocal teacher's insistence. Thank you for your honest reaction, without drowning him with praises 😉😉😉
    I can't find the video mentioned earlier, but found the pre-final duet performed on the same finale, so should also have less post production tweaking.

      It's ok if vocal coaches speak the truth on a particular performance of Hua Hua where he isn't at his best. He is human after all and isn't immune to health issues or voice breaking even when at his best. This vocal coach has seen Hua Hua's performances where post production editing were done, but he knew when he analysed "Child" which part was untouched by the editing team. He is disliked by most singing teachers (he had in his life), because he was always the odd one. He always has his own singing style/techniques. Like opening his mouth as wide as possible when going into high note, extreme distortion in his voice and rolling up the tongue when singing high notes. Winner of Singer 2020 and crowned Vocal King and Champion of Singer 2020. One of the most famous singers in China. But always hated by many people somehow, since his debut he was already called Alien/E.T./Martian to make fun of him, but now he’s one of the greatest singers of China currently.
    Bullfighting from Hua Chenyu is recommended to react to (from Singer 2020). (The high notes in the background were sang by himself, pre-recorded). He has a lot of songs and crazy performances, but I don’t know whether I should recommend them, because some of them maybe more for a normal reactor than vocal coaches. But most of the time he sings with his ‘own voice’, this was one of his first songs released a long time ago and was pretty rock and roll. Another I hesitate to recommend is Seven Personalities. It’s a masterpiece really, but you might need a sense of appreciation for art first and understand the full idea of the song. The song is to simply put it split in 7 personalities/emotions, it talks about him (and his depression time). Singer 2020 has the best audio quality. But I know some might not like it but a lot (young) people surprisingly did.

    Can you please react to another Chinese vocalist Susan Huang 黄绮珊? She is regarded as one of the best female vocalists in China and some of her songs (e.g. 只有你) are used for vocal grading (highest level) in Chinese music conservatories. She has amazing covers of I will always love you and The power of love, and most of her own songs are all very difficult. I suggest 只有你,姗姗来迟,灯塔,等待, 离不开你 and 从头再来.

    Pls watch cute n shy Huahua's interaction with Jessie J 😅 soo cute!! LOL: th-cam.com/video/azhPaokx6pQ/w-d-xo.html
    Some Huahua's informative background: 😉 Huahua is super talented & powerful in stage performances, he's cute n shy in person, he is adorkable n can be nerdy (he's a "stay at home" kind of guy), n he LOVES to eat, food lures him LOL! (Watch him and his food 😂 th-cam.com/video/uj3UeG6Qu7I/w-d-xo.html) He can be so unique that his fans give him the nickname E.T. hence his fandom is named as Martian. His fans also give him other nicknames such as Big brother, Lord vocal, Demon king, and he loves to tease his fans. He's young at heart like a big kid (he said so himself, think he's like Peter Pan), he is humble n down to earth (even though his family is super rich, he already own houses n drive sport car during school days). However he has a painful, lonely & fearsome childhood as his parents were divorced when he was 2, and his father was always away for business, and he was left with different nannies or maids who were strangers to him so he always chased them away (makes me think of Hollywood movie "The Nanny Diaries"), hence when little he yearned for love yet fearful and rejective, he felt alone and unsafe that he slept with a toy gun. He feared to go to school to meet people he just hided in his room playing his own music. Though his grades were good, his dad has never given him a single praise until he won first in a tv singing competition. Someone lured him to the city with FOOD where the competition was held to "tricked" him to join it. He went for interview, got selected and shortly wanted to quit as he can't cope with facing constant cameras and so many audiences, the producers all rushed over to counsel him that he can still have his freedom and be himself, which he later concurred as he's the "stay at home" kind of person so being a public figure makes no difference to his way of life. Eventually he won first in the competition and that's how he started his career in the entertainment industry, and that was also the first time his dad praised him. He was so happy that he claimed winning first is nothing compared to his dad's praise. Music has let him expressed his emotions and healed himself along the way and he's a man of deep thoughts like a philosopher, he is also spiritual and does meditation. Once a tarot card reader and a monk read that he's a spiritual man like a hermit, he sort of agrees n then declares he ever thought of becoming a monk back then when he finished high school, n all the fans were shocked LOL 😂🌸🌸

    How can his voice sound so brightly and so widely at high pitch at the same time? I am referring to the first part of his performance from F4 to F5. Because when I hear you sing it, it sounds like when you want to sing higher pitch, the voice sounds more like a "baby sound", meaning that it has a feeling of less space. When I myself try to sing higher note, my voice has more "baby sound" too.. How can he get rid of this and sound so widely??..

    • @Wkd183
      @Wkd183 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a fun fact. He did write a lyric for one that had one line “Why Nobody Fight”. If not mistaken, inspired by a soccor game he saw when he traveled on a reality show. There is a MV which gives a visual understanding of “Why Nobody Fight”.
      Another one was inspired and collaborated with Martian fans he invited to give input. The title of the song is pretty self explanatory. “Conversations with Martians” It’s an intimate special song he composed and wrote for his Martians who supported him throughout his career. He opens himself up about his vulnerability, beautifully sung.
      Hua feels he is limited in his Vocabulary to write lyrics. However he is very meticulous on what lyrics to use and where to place it in his song to get the “feels” he wants.

    Best high note here ➡️ I’ve seen loads of reaction videos on TH-cam, and honestly yours are easily the most professional and detailed (and obviously the longest😂).
    btw, after reacting to JJ Lin’s and Hua Chenyu’s, I think it’s time your Asian tour move on to Taiwanese singer-songwriter - Lala Hsu!! She’s an AMAZING singer and her voice is just so beautiful. ( kind of like Hua’s voice in your first reaction video on him)
    I would love to see you react to her Lost Desert. here’s her performance of Lost Desert, which is her original song, with English subtitles th-cam.com/video/5zE33Nsts_k/w-d-xo.html
    and actually I feel it a bit more interesting if you could also react to the SAME singer singing the SAME song 10 years ago, before she became a professional singer. Here’s her performance when she’s still a contestant in a Taiwanese singing competition, singing the same song Lost Desert. th-cam.com/video/g_mgtj-0jx0/w-d-xo.html
    I would love to see your reaction/comment of her singing skills before/after she became professional.
