I have this egg cooker, got it as a gift and had not used it until yesterday. Best little apliance everrre, eggs come out perfect. Thank you for your awesome review.
I was cooking some eggs this morning on my Dash egg steamer and the timer went off. I thought to myself, "where have I heard that tune before?" I thought for a while...and then it hit me! I remember listening to this song on the radio back in the 70s called "time has come" by the Chambers Brothers. It's the intro to their song "time has come", how appropriate!...
I use it all the time. They were done when the alarm went off. Pick the black thingy up by the middle stem thingy and set the entire thing in the ice bath.
My husband got this for me since he is always trying to get me to eat more protein. Love it for making hard boiled eggs because I was forever forgetting them on the stove! It is quick and with the music that plays you’re never going to forget them.
If you drop the cracked hard cooked eggs back into the cold water for a minute they will peel more easily. Crack them all and let them sit for a few seconds so the water gets under the inner membrane. Easy peasy.
Wow! I'll be trying that technique with this particular egg cooker asap! I just got one at Ross for $9 and looking how to work this, and see your wonderful tip! I have yet to "master" a decent shell/egg separation. Thank you! 😁👍
verified139. In the time it took since I last wrote that, 48 minutes ago, I did hardboil a batch of 6 eggs and toasted one well buttered toast! Ate 2&the toast and am pleasantly pleased 😊 Your "hack" will save me countless frustrations in dealing with this ever again! Thanks a ton!!
Cathy, I’m a guy and I just bought the steamer. I never saw it work until your demonstration. Thank you so much I’m going to try it this weekend. I’m not a cook nor a house husband but I like things neat and 👍 nice. I pay careful attention to what the experts do. Thank you!
I got this as a present a while back but never got around to using it. Now that I finally pulled it back out I got nervous that I was going to crack the eggs trying to poke a hole. Thanks for setting my mind at ease! Plus I'd never realized it could do extra things. I'm much more motivated to try it now. I absolutely ❤ your review style! You explain everything well and aren't afraid to show your mistakes. Thank you!
I bought one of these years ago from a shopping channel. I love mine. I found out recently you can boil eggs in the airfryer without using water. Works like a charm.
I wish I watched your video before I used my egg cooker to make poached eggs this morning. Mine were not done at all, but I didn't think to add more water to allow them to cook longer. I finished cooking my eggs on the stove, but now I know I can add more water to increase the time if they are not done the first time. I enjoy your Dash appliance videos. Thanks!
I was visiting someone who had one and made some eggs for me. They loved their cooker. I had never seen one or heard of it. I saw them in Amazon for $14 and up. Wanted mine in red which was a bit more expensive. Next day at Savers, there was a seemingly brand new red one for $4.00! Poached eggs will be on the menu chez moi.
Love our Dash egg cooker! Ours is the newer model without the center handle so can do 7 eggs. Always remember that the temperature of your eggs will affect the cooking time. Our booklet said room temperature eggs is what the cooking (water levels) time is based on. Favorite Christmas is cooking are those Archway Mexican wedding cookings, ie crack cookies. Thank God we typically don’t see them in the stores here.
I bought this and love it. I consider myself a good cook but I could never get hard boiled eggs right. This does the job. Cooked perfectly and peeled with no problems. I now use it regularly. Never used it for anything else except hard boiled eggs though.
Wow! I put raw eggs in a pot, fill with tap water until it covers the eggs, set it on burner on high, set timer for 13 minutes. When timer goes off, dump hot water and fill pot with cold water. In a few minutes, eggs peel well, and I’m on my way!
I love my little Dash Egg Boiler. Husband likes the Poached Eggs because he doesn't have to babysit them as they are cooking and no need to add Vinegar to the Poached Eggs while they are cooking. Win! Win! I like the Hard Boiled Eggs. Made Egg Salad night before last and also Deviled Eggs were Delicious in texture and flavor. Haven't made an Omelets yet. I use my Dash Egg Bites Maker for my Omelets... it works great too. I'll definitely be trying my hand at Steaming some Veggies in the Dash Egg Boiler. I can see that as being great if the Veggies are Steamed correctly... might need to try several different timings for the Veggies steaming process depending on what you're steaming and the quantities you're steaming... same for Seafoods. I do really like it. A great time-saver.
Thanks for the vid 👍 I was given one with no instructions. I don't know what your friend was thinking, but as an Aussie, yes, you had ham. Not bacon. Maybe he didn't look properly and thought it was shortcut bacon. You definitely had ham. Bacon is taken off the ribs, from the middle section of the pig. Glad to see how this works, thanks again from Australia 🦘🦘🦘
We've been using one of these for years for hard boiled, love it. Never tried the omelette, but I think it would make a good size for egg muffin sandwich. Ours didn't have an alarm.
I just picked up a West Bend model from Goodwill for $5.00 that looks identical to this model without the omelet option. Living in an RV, I absolutely love this gadget.
I have been considering an egg cooker for some time but couldn't decide which one to buy. Thank you for the excellent and informative review. I just made my purchase on Amazon and it should be arriving Monday. I see they come in various colors and there also is a 12 egg cooker available. Amazon only had the black one in stock when I made my purchase so I bought that for $15.99. Thank You again. Watch all your reviews. Jim
Nicely demonstrated Cathy! This is remarkably similar to the Copper Chef Perfect Egg Maker and the results seem about the same, too. I used that one for a couple years. Christmas cookie: A vintage orange gumdrop cookie recipe my grandmother used to make!
I bought a similar "as seen on TV" device at Walgreens about 15 years ago. I've always been pleased with the results. Mine didn't come with the omelet pan and I've never tried the poaching thing. But it is definitely my hard boiled go-to device. Perfect yolks every time. Little known egg fact: Very fresh eggs don't peel as well as slightly older eggs. QOTD: I don't have a favorite Xmas cookie so I'll stick with Oreos (or the Aldi equivalent)
Just bought one today at a thrift shop and it's all intact, I just read the instructions and it left me a little confused as to what end the egg holes went on. You cleared that up for me, thank you.
My son gave this egg cooker to me because he wasn’t using it.. I was doubtful but love it! Boiled eggs perfect every time,; prefer omelette in fry pan as well. Like the video for instructions (couldn’t locate booklet this morning)
Thank you Cathy for the video. I found it very helpful. I am type 2 diabetic and love boiled eggs. I am eating 2 boiled eggs for breakfast and the rest of the day I'm having chicken salad sandwiches. PC. 02. 10. 2021. PS. I know that sounds boring but I have to eat as much protein as possible.
Cool, I got one for Christmas, and we tried it tonight. My husband wanted medium hard eggs, and yes, yiu do have to adjust the water, or leave them in a few minutes longer. He put 3 eggs in amd the measured amount of water. It shut off at 7 minutes instead of 9, per instructions. So next time we know better. Thanks for the video.
thank you very informative; just bought this ! excited to start using it ! BTW: luv your natural stone travertine back-splash !!! excellent pattern - looks great with the granite countertops
O-M-G!!! I just bought this today at HEB in Bastrop, Texas. I quickly put 2 eggs in it to soft boil. After the time went off, I put the eggs into a cold water bath and shelled them. I put the eggs into a bowl, tore up a slice of bread and added that and then added a couple of tablespoons of grape jelly. I can't express the feelings of tasting what my mother used to make me when I was young! I can't wait to try different deviled egg recipes. I just wish my younger brother was still alive so I could ask him his.... This device let's me boil eggs to the right consistency easily enough for me to do! Love my egg cooker!
I love the feeling when things take you back to your childhood. It is probably one of my favorite products I have reviewed. It’s the only way I hard boil my eggs now.
I bought this and used it maybe 3 times, it works really good for hard boiled eggs. I tried poached eggs but wasn't a fan, didn't cook long enough, but never fooled around with the water and the time to get it right. It is now at my daughters house, I just didn't use it enough, but thought it was cute and worked well. Might have to see if she is using it and if not I'll try the poached eggs again, lol
I used this while watching your video. My wife got it for me because I love hard boiled eggs and was telling her it would work a lot better if I had some kind of basket for eggs that you could lower and raise from a pan of boiling water. I haven't opened one yet, because they're cooling off right now.
@@2centchick So far. My wife made some after me and thinks she somehow didn't poke the holes exactly right, because a couple of them cooked a bit outside of the holes. Have you tried boiling/steaming them without making the holes?
Thank you for you instructions and review. My daughter gave me the Dash egg cooker and I don't like to read instructions. So I followed you and it worked great for me.
I have an egg cooker but I didn't get the parts for the omlett and the part for pouched eggs so what should I use instead if I want to make an omelette like you and pouched eggs with my egg cooker?
Thanks, looking to buy one of these. I like that it does more than just the hard boiled egg and seems very simple. Snowball cookies, my mom made them and so yummy!! 😊😋
A better way to peel the eggs, I've found, is to 'pinch' the fat end first. Doing this gets you under that skin that's below the shell and once you're under the skin, the shell practically falls away.
Good video! I have had one of these egg cookers for about a year. I love it for boiled eggs and poached, but my omelets are always raw in the middle. Any advice?
Hi Cathy..I just bought this same egg cooker the other day at TJMax for $10.00. I love It! The previous one I had finally died, so I got the one from TJMax.
Thanks so much for your video .... my daughter gave me this cooker for father's day and I guess I tossed the instructions with the box ... off to Google, figuring someone would have a video up already and sure enough ... but this is exceptional ... great review and very helpful ... well done! Take good care and again, thanks!
Thanks... im wondering if part of the reason im having so many problems with mine is i got the large egg cooker that isnt for 2 ppl but for a family and i dont know if o can cook 1 poarched egg in it correctly... anywho im late but i love snickerdoodles
I think the water shoots out because of the hole in the shell. But I think the hole helps in cooking and shell removal? I love the alarm sound though (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
Thank you for bringing up the pressure cooker. I bought a different brand of this years ago. The concept has been going around under various labels since the 70s. I think Freaking Reviews found an unopened one from then. But I’m still a big fan of the pressure cooker for boiling eggs. All that puncturing the shells and measuring the water, ehh. I’ve done as many as 30 eggs at one time in the pressure cooker. The hardest part was lifting all those hot eggs out and getting them into the ice water one at a time. But these little cookers do work and produce good boiled eggs, as you showed here.
Hi Cathy hope you and your family are doing well today! The Dash egg cooker seem interesting. But the so-called omelette looks more like a souffle. Anyhow I'd pass on the eggs. And my favorite Christmas cookie it just plain and simple sugar cookie.
Hi, I was very excited about finding one at a thrift store, but it came with no cup or instructions, just the plastic egg holder for the eggs to sit in. I was wondering, would you be able to measure the actual liquid amounts for the soft, medium & hard eggs? That way I can put the appropriate water requirements for each choice. Thank you in advance 🙏😊
I am following the directions and your video… have used 3 times and my eggs come out med. Today I only used 3 eggs, correct amount of water… timer went off at 12 min exactly… still soft. Anyway, will play around with it… maybe ADD more water to cook longer. The eggs are delicious for a quick breakfast but as is can’t make deviled eggs unless they are cooked through. 😮
Love watching your videos. You could try the recipe for sous vide eggs instead of an omelet. I think the cottage cheese or ricotta, and cheddar would give it more body and a better texture. Id add some veggies too.
Am in UK and just bought a NEO 3 in 1 Egg boiler....how long for soft boiled eggs...trial and error I know but I do love a medium boiled egg... my instructions on the cup not very clear.... .your poached looked just right but don't think I would go for an omelette...looked like scrambled eggs .... thank you for the video...xxx
I was just debating about buying this! You have convinced me. 😊 Now, if you have a chance to review their rice cooker, I would be thankful. I believe the cookies you mentioned are called Russian teacakes. My favorite is snickerdoodles.
Is that music for alarm coming from the machine ? Or some kind of timer ? My Dash egg maker has a built-in alarm and it tells you when they are done. We use ours to death, we've had it for about 3 yrs now 😊
@@2centchick I must have an older one, mine has a little generic beep LOL, I mostly use mine for boiled eggs though, I don't like the omelet and pouched eggs from the dash machine : )
I agree with you about pressure cooker eggs-that’s hard to beat. The only disadvantage is the size of the cooker. I also like that I don’t have to poke holes in my eggs, position them any certain way, that I can do a dozen or more at a time, and that my pressure cooker shuts itself off. It seems like this should shut itself off. I did get egg leaking and splitting with this. But again, much smaller than the pressure cooker.
I have this egg cooker, got it as a gift and had not used it until yesterday. Best little apliance everrre, eggs come out perfect.

I’ll try that ..thanks
I found rather than pushing to put a hole in that egg just twist. The egg back-and-forth a little bit and the pin goes in very easily.
I have that one, but I lost the instructions.

@@sism3028 that's way too long to have to cook & wait for hard boiled eggs when this thing does it in minutes.
I put a little white vinegar in mine as soon as I take the eggs out. It’s still hot and the residue wipes out easily.

use 1 tbsp of white vinegar added to the ice water, will help peel the eggs even easier & leaves no after taste or the vinegar.

Hello 👋,, how are you doing today; how’s everything going over there Tina?
A better way to peel the eggs, I've found, is to 'pinch' the fat end first. Doing this gets you under that skin that's below the shell and once you're under the skin, the shell practically falls away.
Thanks for that tip!

1/4 cup for hard boiled.

Hope you are doing well, Cathy. 🙂 Came across this video that I saw a long time ago, but wanted to say hello. hehe Be well!
Hi 👋! Good to hear from you. Hope you are doing well.
great video. i got one of these a few years ago and lost the directions. am
currently using it for the egg burst time! Thsnks
Thanks!
I have one and love it. The omelets are nice and fluffy and fit perfect on a hamburger bun or English muffin.
I learned you really don’t need to pierce them. They still turn out great.
Hi Cathy hope you and your family are doing well today! The Dash egg cooker seem interesting. But the so-called omelette looks more like a souffle. Anyhow I'd pass on the eggs. And my favorite Christmas cookie it just plain and simple sugar cookie.
This video was extremely well done
Thank you!
Hard is 1/4 cup
Medium is 1/8 cup
Soft is 2 TBS
Hope that helps. 🙂
@@2centchick omg! Thank you soooooo much!
@@2centchick hi, are you sure soft is 2 tablespoons? I only ask because 1/8 cup is equal to to 2 tablespoons.. maybe you meant soft is 2 teaspoons?
I am following the directions and your video… have used 3 times and my eggs come out med. Today I only used 3 eggs, correct amount of water… timer went off at 12 min exactly… still soft. Anyway, will play around with it… maybe ADD more water to cook longer. The eggs are delicious for a quick breakfast but as is can’t make deviled eggs unless they are cooked through. 😮
Love watching your videos. You could try the recipe for sous vide eggs instead of an omelet. I think the cottage cheese or ricotta, and cheddar would give it more body and a better texture. Id add some veggies too.
Thanks for the tip!
Sugar cookies are my fav cookie at Christmas
I got mine off of Facebook yard sale for 5.00. I love it. Very cool
I am still looking for any easy / clean way to in shell.how about Christmas cakes?
How long do you keep them in the iced water?
Just a few minutes.
I was just debating about buying this! You have convinced me. 😊 Now, if you have a chance to review their rice cooker, I would be thankful. I believe the cookies you mentioned are called Russian teacakes. My favorite is snickerdoodles.
I will look for it!
Used the 12 egg cooker for years. Peel under water.
Did you use oil in that omelet? I have a similar device, I never use oil and always the eggs sticks to the surface
Is that music for alarm coming from the machine ? Or some kind of timer ? My Dash egg maker has a built-in alarm and it tells you when they are done. We use ours to death, we've had it for about 3 yrs now 😊
It’s the machine. 🙂
I have this egg cooker for 3 years , in the beggining i poked holes. Now i absolutely don't, and there is no difference! Its a breeze
