I was cooking some eggs this morning on my Dash egg steamer and the timer went off. I thought to myself, "where have I heard that tune before?" I thought for a while...and then it hit me! I remember listening to this song on the radio back in the 70s called "time has come" by the Chambers Brothers. It's the intro to their song "time has come", how appropriate!...

I use it all the time. They were done when the alarm went off. Pick the black thingy up by the middle stem thingy and set the entire thing in the ice bath.

My husband got this for me since he is always trying to get me to eat more protein. Love it for making hard boiled eggs because I was forever forgetting them on the stove! It is quick and with the music that plays you’re never going to forget them.

If you drop the cracked hard cooked eggs back into the cold water for a minute they will peel more easily. Crack them all and let them sit for a few seconds so the water gets under the inner membrane. Easy peasy.

Wow! I'll be trying that technique with this particular egg cooker asap! I just got one at Ross for $9 and looking how to work this, and see your wonderful tip! I have yet to "master" a decent shell/egg separation. Thank you! 😁👍

verified139. In the time it took since I last wrote that, 48 minutes ago, I did hardboil a batch of 6 eggs and toasted one well buttered toast! Ate 2&the toast and am pleasantly pleased 😊 Your "hack" will save me countless frustrations in dealing with this ever again! Thanks a ton!!

I got this as a present a while back but never got around to using it. Now that I finally pulled it back out I got nervous that I was going to crack the eggs trying to poke a hole. Thanks for setting my mind at ease! Plus I'd never realized it could do extra things. I'm much more motivated to try it now. I absolutely ❤ your review style! Love our Dash egg cooker! Ours is the newer model without the center handle so can do 7 eggs. Always remember that the temperature of your eggs will affect the cooking time. Our booklet said room temperature eggs is what the cooking (water levels) time is based on.
Favorite Christmas is cooking are those Archway Mexican wedding cookings, ie crack cookies. Thank God we typically don’t see them in the stores here.

I was visiting someone who had one and made some eggs for me. They loved their cooker. I had never seen one or heard of it. I saw them in Amazon for $14 and up. Wanted mine in red which was a bit more expensive. Next day at Savers, there was a seemingly brand new red one for $4.00! Poached eggs will be on the menu chez moi.

I love my little Dash Egg Boiler. Husband likes the Poached Eggs because he doesn't have to babysit them as they are cooking and no need to add Vinegar to the Poached Eggs while they are cooking. Win! Win! I like the Hard Boiled Eggs. Made Egg Salad night before last and also Deviled Eggs were Delicious in texture and flavor. Haven't made an Omelets yet. I use my Dash Egg Bites Maker for my Omelets... it works great too. I'll definitely be trying my hand at Steaming some Veggies in the Dash Egg Boiler. I can see that as being great if the Veggies are Steamed correctly... might need to try several different timings for the Veggies steaming process depending on what you're steaming and the quantities you're steaming... same for Seafoods. I do really like it. A great time-saver.

A better way to peel the eggs, I've found, is to 'pinch' the fat end first. Doing this gets you under that skin that's below the shell and once you're under the skin, the shell practically falls away.

But it is definitely my hard boiled go-to device. Perfect yolks every time. Little known egg fact: Very fresh eggs don't peel as well as slightly older eggs. QOTD: I don't have a favorite Xmas cookie so I'll stick with Oreos (or the Aldi equivalent)

Thank you for bringing up the pressure cooker. I bought a different brand of this years ago. The concept has been going around under various labels since the 70s. I think Freaking Reviews found an unopened one from then. But I’m still a big fan of the pressure cooker for boiling eggs. All that puncturing the shells and measuring the water, ehh. I’ve done as many as 30 eggs at one time in the pressure cooker. The hardest part was lifting all those hot eggs out and getting them into the ice water one at a time. But these little cookers do work and produce good boiled eggs, as you showed here.

There is no timer. There is a sensor that determines when the water evaporates, and the alarm is set off at that time. So you actually 'set' the time by how much water is put onto the heating plate.
Some people wonder about why put the pinhole in the egg: it's a safety feature.
Eggs have a small bit of air at the larger end. When the egg is cooked, the air expands. If it expands quickly enough, the egg can explode violently.
This is why eggs boiled in water will sometimes crack before the contents can cook. A pinhole will minimize such occurrences.
This is also why it's dangerous to cook eggs in the shell in a microwave (and even a pinhole is not big enough for how quickly a microwave cooks things for the air to escape an eggshell before exploding).

Why does the lid lock, if the locking is never used?

    • @2centchick
      @2centchick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I think it’s just for when you put it away. You can lock the lid so the extra stuff doesn’t fall out.

I am following the directions and your video… have used 3 times and my eggs come out med. Today I only used 3 eggs, correct amount of water… timer went off at 12 min exactly… still soft. Anyway, will play around with it… maybe ADD more water to cook longer. The eggs are delicious for a quick breakfast but as is can’t make deviled eggs unless they are cooked through. 😮

The temperature of your egg at the beginning of cooking might matter?

Is that music for alarm coming from the machine ? Or some kind of timer ? My Dash egg maker has a built-in alarm and it tells you when they are done. We use ours to death, we've had it for about 3 yrs now 😊

@@2centchick I must have an older one, mine has a little generic beep LOL, I mostly use mine for boiled eggs though, I don't like the omelet and pouched eggs from the dash machine : )
