He is damaged goods and considering how lawyers are expensive, people will go for the safer option since with court your livelihood is at risk if you lose. No one has a right to accuse anyone without providing evidence for the same. He is lucky he is not being sued for defamation which he can easily serve a jail term or pay a extremely huge fine basing on the calibre of people he was abusing
