Sonic Prime is netflix's new Sonic the hedgehog cartoon, that was released december 15th 2022, premiering on roblox for some reason. It follows Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Rouge, Shadow and eggman in a classic angsty edgy funny cartoon much akin to Sonic Boom and Sonic Underground. Today on Spilling The Milk we reacted to episode 1 and 2 of this new animated series to see if its actually good. will the reaction be comedy? yes!

Big the Cat is gonna be so integral to the plot in such a weird way, and the creators are preparing us for it.
Love how he helps out along the way be it with a Crowbar or shooting Seadogs

It's a such a fun evolution of the character. From being just a tacked on gameplay mode to one who just finds themselves in the middle of some of the most climatic fights in the series just because he's trying to fish or save a friend. Also he's the strongest character in the universe but chooses the tranquil life of fishing every time

When it comes to the supporting cast, Rouge has definitely been the biggest surprise, taking on a leadership role in nearly every world and fitting in perfectly with the rest of Team Sonic - I even thought she had become an official member at first. She hasn't been this well written or utilized in a plot like this for years.
Rebel an Renegade are so nice together they know each other so well
She’s played neat roles that fit her character in the past, like an agent for G.U.N., or a spy for Sonic or Team Dark. But I do agree, she has more potential in this show as a character.
Hope they give us a flashback for rebel and renegade's backstory,I would love to see how they became friends and handled the resistance at first.also definitely a scene where they try to understand nine
The only issue this show has is with it’s pacing, the constant flashbacks and the abrupt cliffhanger endings. But other than all that, this show is a great Sonic show! Definitely a show worth checking out.
I kind of like the parallels between the different dimensions using flashbacks. they definitely put a lot of thought into the story

I think the show should start when Sonic wakes up at New Yolk city, and he doesn't remember how he got there and he has to solve the mystery and jog his memories back.

He’s always been called Eggman since the first game. Robotnek was just the US name until in Sonic adventure sonic team retconed it to where he had both names and set the in game lore for the us straight to match the Japanese lore. So now his name is Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnek.

I mentioned this in another reaction but I was shocked to see Ashleigh Ball voice Tails because she did Applejack and Rainbow Dash in MLP. There’s a bit of Rainbow Dash coming out of Tails. I know this is a strange thing to point out, but it kind of references the millions of people who wanted Rainbow Dash and Sonic to meet… I don’t know, I just find that fun to think about
Edit: And now I come to find out that Tabitha St. Germain, Rarity’s VA, does rouge, which is honestly perfect. And Vincent Tong, who did Flash in EG (but I know him more as Kai from Ninjago) does Knuckles. Geez, I love this cast
I grew to easily love devons sonic and i really like the rest of the cast, and man ashley did an especially good job as nine, gotta be my favorite interpretation of tails

I haven’t saw a sonic series in so long. Loved all the sonic shows, but prime is up there. THEY STRAIGHT UP BOXING. Nine vs Sonic set the tone for me of what’s going down. And how they wrote the characters, Amy literally throwing hands at anyone who needs it, I just love it. The fights are amazing and I was laughing at the character interactions.

The show has a lot of potential, I'm looking forward to how the rest of the season goes
One thing I was shocked by was the animation. A good story doesn't mean much if the visuals are choppy and gross to look at. And 95% of this show looks incredible. Smooth animation, solid effects and lighting, and high intensity action scenes. And the story isn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be. Takes a bit of a sort of grimdark tone without the blood or anything. Just a bit morbid at times. And that's refreshing. I'm looking forward to more episodes

This show is essentially what the writers/fans thought of after watching Into the Spiderverse. I wouldn’t call this a “copy” though. It was executed well, with some originality. The concept of robotisizing someone? Eggman did that often in the Archie comics. Rusty Rose is a great parallel to Metal Sonic, it’s interesting to see just how cold and violent Amy could be, it’s quite a contrast from the empathetic and caring love interest Sonic has always had.
I just binged it all and I’m hyped for when season 2 inevitably comes
