Sonic boom is one of the most funny and meme filled cartoons in recent memory. Sonic, Tails, Amy Rose, Shadow, Dr Eggman or Robotnik, and most importantly Knuckles have comedy centered adventures on cartoon network. Feminism is important to these cartoons anime characters. Having watched the Game Grumps play Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric before even knowing the show existed, I was shocked with how actually funny the jokes were here.
Yeah, the show is weirdly good.
No one is sure how that happened, though between it and Sonic Mania is REALLY raising the question of Sonic Team's Competency.
@@ShadowWolfRising Sonic Boom, the game, was originally Sonic Synergy. Big Red Button, the developers, had a lot of work put into the worldbuilding and character dynamics, the game was gonna release on anything but the Wii U, and things were looking good. Then Sega, in all of their infinite douchebaggery, decided to strike exclusivity deals with Nintendo and produce a tie-in cartoon with CN, all behind the team's back. This completely screwed them over.
Game-wise: their engine was not designed to work on the Wii U, at all. They had to try and create a workable version of the engine themselves and brute force it on there, all while managing deadlines to also try and complete the game. A lot of features got cut and a lot of bugs and technical glitches were, naturally, left in.
Story-wise: they were forced to adopt the tone of the now in-production cartoon. Plenty of stuff was cut, either for time, or to tie in better with the show. Sega also gave them weird restrictions. They couldn't have a tinkering character in the game because...Tails also tinkers? They couldn't create their own backstory for THEIR version of Sonic because...Sega said they might want to show the backstory for their own Sonic one day? So all that had to be cut, too. Though if you look at the architecture in the final game, remnants of those ideas remain.
TL;DR: Sega is their own worse enemy, but this time, they brought someone else down with them. The result was Rise of Lyric.
@@dankwaifu2093 Sega is not the most competently run company, if only Sega gave some of their other teams the same autonomy they give Atlus (Granted Sonic Team is kinda bad at their job, so THEY kinda need management.).

some of my favorite lines in the show are from knuckles: “just because I’m a meathead, doesn’t mean i’m not a feminist.” They’re gonna love the comedic dialogue in this show
This and sonic mania prove that literally everyone but sonic team is qualifed to make good sonic content.

The Sonic Boom tv show is honestly very funny, it’s very unfortunate the corresponding game was terrible
It took ‘em 2 years to fix the games with Fire & Ice, which was sadly a bit too late
The show could have been a giant hit if the game didn't ruin it for them, God that game was a train wreck.
I heard the fire & ice game was good, but I was given the wiiu game as birthday gift and was so disappointed I wanted nothing to do with the series.
Unfortunate, but thats what happens when companies would rather Meer a holiday deadline than actually finishing the game.

@Jeep Acreano the game would have been fine if it wasnt pushed to release right before the holidays.
They wanted to make the sales despite the game clearly being no where near finished, sad really because the game was certainly interesting, just not done, to be honest I didn't dislike the new designs.
Expect for big unnecessarily and excessively dumb Knuckles, yeah he's supposed to be naive, but it was kind of annoying they made him the "dumber than a bag of hammers" guy :/

Sonic Boom may be written off by most people because of how bad the game was on launch, but honestly a lot of the jokes got me laughing last time I watched it. It's far from perfect but gets more hate than it deserves imo

This was one of those cartoons I would wake up for at 6am to watch and enjoy. There's one action scene that I just love and it makes me wish we got more of this show to this day.
I remember watching new episodes on TH-cam, I also remember when there were Sonic Boom fans who were speculating and theorizing what the next season and what the next episode is about. In fact I was friends with one of these TH-camrs, but she sadly disappeared in 2019 due to her channel being terminated (Likely because of Sega, but that’s just speculation of course (no pun intended))

On one hand, they kinda ruined Knuckles character because his stupidity is mostly for comedy and is totally different from the other versions of Knuckles. But on the other hand, I like that version of Knuckles even when he’s stupid, he’s the best character in the show for me

8:09 okay this is my nerd alert, but fun fact this episode is a parody of an 80s thriller movie called misery which is about an author being restrained in bed by a crazy fan who used to be a nurse that killed kids
Some clarity on the game for wiiu if nobody knows, rushing it did cause some problems but mainly Sega Japan messed the game up off jump with terrible decisions. They got big red button to make the game for an engine that was suited to be on PS4 and Xbox One, but due to Sega and Nintendo's contract that they had going on at the time, Sega came to big red button pretty much last minute to tell them that they needed to put the game on Wii u exclusively, and the Wii u could not handle the engine at all, they had to do whatever they could just to make sure the game would run at all,which is why the game is the way it is, otherwise it would have just been boring as opposed to being both boring and broken lol
Also they completely changed the storyline Big Red button had laid out. The game was originally called sonic synergy and would have explored Sonic's origins and how eggman was originally his friend before becoming his foe. Then Sega came in and threw out all their stuff because THEY wanted to do a sonic origin story (despite this being a separate universe) Matt Mcmusles has a whole video on it.

Sonic Boom is my favorite Sonic show. It has such great comedy, and I'm in the group of people who actually likes Knuckles.
I also really like the action. Sometimes, it can feel a little samey, but other times, it can be really engaging and surprisingly violent.
It sucks that it got cancelled. If the people did a better job at marketing and kept in on Cartoon Network instead of moving it to Boomerang, we probably would have gotten a season 3.

Can you guys react to "OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes"? It's a really good show, I understand if you don't react to all of it but it would be nice, even though the show ended 3 years ago (unfairly got cancelled) I still watch it and there isn't enough people who do reactions to it and that really bugs me since this (to me) was a god tier show.
