    I never understand why people down vote free, quality media.
    This is fantastic!
    Thanks for taking the time to produce and upload this.

      KoryB I know Elektron has amassed a small group of people that really dislike their products. That could be part of the issue.

      or people want analog four so bad that they dislike because they cant afford it

    Very impressive sounds. A lot of people hate on presets but a tremendous amount of work goes into making the really good ones. Besides, how many users can actually master their synths well enough to compete with the pros? Not many, really. They've years -- decades even -- designing presets and patches. With a little bit of effort some of the patch parameters can be manipulated to making the sound yours. Using presets doesn't mean you're lazy if it inspires you to make music that has a bit of your own soul and style in it.

      My problem with preset sounds is that they can sound really interesting, but they always require some slight tweaking to make appropriate in a songwriting context. At the end of the day, the sounds can be nice, but they're made for common purpose. I'm interested in the more raunchy, crazy sounds that come from when you push synths to the limit, like Warp Records kinda stuff. For that purpose, obviously preset won't work, except for bass/really normal pads.
      The only time that presets work for my ears is when:
      1) The company actually doesn't know how to program synthesizers, and they make very strange and unique sounding presets
      2) The company really knows how to program and makes super interesting and weird sounds

      metaspherz half of the fun of owning a synth, especially one this powerful, is designing patches and exploring every inch of the instrument. If you just want to play patches made by someone else, and do some slight tweaking, you’d be better off with a workstation.

    Wow. What an underrated synth. Just convinced me to get one. Seems like the A4 could easily sound like a Juno/Jupiter/Polysix/Prophet and all those classic poly synths. I’m especially hearing some classic Roland here.

    Outstanding demo Jeff! I will have to get one… very capable synth with just enough polyphony.

    The price you can get grab a second hand Analog four MK1 as of me writing this is literally a steal. If you’re watching this debating buying one, go buy one now. I’ve owned my A4 since day one and I paid full price and even then it was fully worth it. Such a deep, flexible and unique synth it’s really a modern classic imo

      I'm being shown this video a few days after getting my first bit of Elekton gear - a MKI analog four, I've had it for two days. It is amazing! I can start with an init patch and tweak up a crazy dark wall of sound, even with no effects. It's super useful. I will never sell it. It's amazing! And yeah it was cheap. The smaller size of the original means it fits on the music rest of my digital piano even :) I love that I can use the CV track for midi sequencing something else polyphonically. The operating system is incredible, projects auto state saving on power off but you can manually save or restore to a saved state, or create a new project and import from another, like using the first as a template. Elektron just understands what people need to be able to do. Very impressed.

    Think he’s using the A4 splits and arpeggiators to create these
    expansive sounds, 2 parts per hand, only 2 notes played each hand = x4 note polyphony

    Woaah the sounds around 0:40 are amazing. Does anyone know if the Analog Keys is capable of the same sounds or does it have some other stuff build in?

    So with the upgrade, can you have 4 note polyphony PER voice? Meaning you can have 16 notes over 4 voices, or does it mean you can use the polyphony from all 4 voices (set to the same patch) at the same time giving you 4 notes. thanks

    • @Funbia
      @Funbia 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only 4 voices my friend.

    • @VS3d0v
      @VS3d0v 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Funbia_dude 4 voices mean you have two oscillators per voice and 8 suboscillators. So yes, 16 voices polyphony in theory.

    • @Funbia
      @Funbia 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeuhen It is not the same thing. If you play a jazz song, you can only play a max of 4 notes chords, that´s all.

    • @VS3d0v
      @VS3d0v 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funbia_dude but you can tune the oscillators. So for example you are playing one note with OSC1 tuned to -2 and OSC2 tuned to +3. In this way you get two notes per one voice. Additionally you can turn on suboscillators which give you two more notes (with a half frequency): -14 and -9. And it is a four notes chord per one voice, it's possible. When you play a polyphony, the same mechanic works. And in theory you could get the 16 generators sounding altogether, but in practice it's hard to achieve because of suboscillators will often play in the same notes as the oscillators.
      Or am I missing something? Could you explain?

    • @Funbia
      @Funbia 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      yeuhen Yes, and I can sing along to obtain an extra voice, and my dog will howl to have extra harmonics. Nobody is going to program an entire jazz song, when you can j ust do it by playing a keyboard.

      I think no more 2 voices for this one with 2 keys down and arp on.

    Are those the presets in the 1.1 update? If so it will help me determine whether to get the A4 or the Dsi X4. I'm really struggling over this one. Not that I'm a big preset user, I just want to see what sounds I'm going to get out of the box.

  • @jayvich75

    Cool!
    So is it possible to have a 2 voices poly patch on track 1&2 and 2 different mono patch on track 3 and track 4 with separate midi track for each one of them?

    • @jeffdigit
      @jeffdigit  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure but I think you cannot have more than 4 notes at the same time.
      4 voices in 1 track is possible, 2+2 voices on 2 tracks is possible, 2+2 +1 +1 is possible but maybe not at the same time.

    Fantastic demo! The core sound of this synth reminds me of the Juno... but with a lot more variety! Can you confirm that no external effects are used in this demo?

    Honestly I strangely get bogged down with the sequencer on mine. It almost feels like a toy with my current knowledge of it (granted it's real complicated a deep but I haven't had the time to get far with it.) But when playing it with a keyboard it fucking shines for me. Like a completely different beast at that point.

  • @emilshere

    You can play the Analog 4 like an arpeggiator? and it arps the keys you are holding?

    • @Quaalz
      @Quaalz 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the Analog Four features an arpeggiator on each voice and functions as a normal arpeggiator. But it operates in a different way.

  • @emilshere
    @emilshere 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you connect the keyboard via CV or Midi in?

    • @MrExplodicide
      @MrExplodicide 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The A4 does not have CV-in, only CV-out. So it must have been a MIDI connection.

  • @benjaminmauch_

    • @lemonslice2233

      There are a myriad ways you can do that, the most direct way being a simple MIDI cable.

    I'm getting this! Does anybody know any specific technical differences between this and Analog Keys? Except for the obvious keyboard and joystick functionality? For instance, is it possible to use aftertouch on Analog Four using a keyboard with aftertouch support?
    This is by the way probably the best demo of the Analog Four I've seen so far. Well done!
