I've had Gamepass Ultimate since they allowed to convert Xbox Gold. Think my average cost for 15 months was $2.75 a month. I'll finally begin paying the full price come February but it'll still be worth it. My only downside with it is the abundance of choice can lead to a bit of gaming ADD. It's so easy to jump from game to game that you have a bunch of games you started but not many completed.
@Console Gaming lol true. I try to focus on no more than 3 games at a time now. I have Control Ultimate Edition on PC. Another one I need to finish up but that game freaks me out for some reason.

Same. I'm sick of everything being subscription so I didn't want game pass just out of principle. I just got it a couple months ago cause that's the only cards the store had at the time. It's freaking awesome, and I don't want to ever go back. Lol
I agree having subscription everywhere can be annoying(you can thank movies/shows for that) but don't forget you will always have the ability to buy them. As long as that is there and subs are optional I don't mind it as much.
Here’s my thing. I haven’t payed full price for a new game in 5 years. I’ve always waited for a sale. I spent 15 bucks on ni no kuni 2 and played it for 2 months. If I had gotten it on game pass it would have cost me 30 bucks. People seem to really not understand how subscription costs stack. Let’s take Skyrim for example. I spent 60 dollars on it 6 years ago. I still sometimes play it to this day. So every time I want to boot up a game I’ve payed for and played years ago will now run me 15 bucks

I love gamepass for pc. Halo infinite got me into it, and I’m trying out other AAA games I wanted to try but didn’t think were worth buying in full. They have a lot of options for pc and I love they are connecting Xbox and pc.

It's such an insane value, and they keep adding more games and EA access is coming in just a couple of weeks. Thanks for the reminder to play the second Ori game by the way- I played the first one a while back and definitely agree it is a masterpiece.
I'd rather get EA Play at Origin myself. For the same $5 a month you pay through XBox, you get access to a ton of third-party games on the origin store that you don't get when you get Gamepass through XBox or Steam.
@@andothersuchnonsense2685 It depends on the their you sign-up for on Gamepass. The $10 per month tier does not include eaPlay. The $15 tier does. I'd rather pay $10 for Gamepass and $5 for eaplay seperate for a total of $15 a month, than pay $15 a month for Gamepass with eaplay - since you get less games that way.
@@andothersuchnonsense2685 There is very little the $15 tier offers on Gamepass that the $10 tier does. THAT is why I choose to get them separately, as eaplay on origin has about 40 more games from third parties to choose from.
One of the only tech guys that I always watch the whole video...laid back, not warped by years of using the high end gear to the point where low/mid gear is an affront
Everything is base on the dollar on the price of the game which mean it even worst to compare the price in Asia which is 4 time expensive than us dollar !!
Last year there was a game that I was really wanting to try out, but I didn’t want to pay the full retail price for the game. The game was called kingdom come; deliverance. Anyway, I signed up for the one dollar trial for Game Pass, and imagine my delight when I saw that game on there. After a month of playing, I dished out the full price of the game and of the DLC’s, and I’m still playing that game. I absolutely love game pass, and it makes me excited about the future of gaming
Own ultimate gamepass till 2023, think of gamepass as a blockbuster video game rental. For 10$/15$ a month you get unlimited downloads to hundreds of games. Now with the new companies they acquired the titles will only go up, and EA? That’s almost every sport game. All they are missing is Call of Duty.
If you are buying ultimate game pass I recommend buying 3 years of gold first . After you add that to your account and then sign up for ultimate, it will convert the 3 years of gold into ultimate. Saving you $360 total. I did it yesterday and I’m glad I did! Edit: forgot to say will only convert it if it’s your first time signing up for ultimate.
I absolutely love game pass for my Xbox series x and for my PC. They have some major AAA games. Xbox game pass is basically dominating right now and they are getting some high-end studios on board. They even getting some PlayStation exclusives. Microsoft did this and they did it right. This was definitely one of their best decisions and it is paying off for them. EA is a part of game pass now. So now you can expect huge EA titles to be on game pass as a part of your subscription. Such as the battlefield series
Thank you for mentioning the battlefield part of this, I'm enjoying my game pass but before your comment I could take it or leave it. Now knowing battlefield is a part of game pass I will forever hold my subscription as long as that's true.
Completely agree I'm playing dirt 5 and ace combat 7 both games are really cool and I would had never played them without game pass. This really brings value to xbox and pc owner's.
For those of us who have XGP Ultimate, we pay 180$ 0er year which equals 3 fullprice games. Consoles usually don't sell on average 3 games per console per year; they sell a lot less. This subscription service likely generates value over time that will far exceed that old model of selling individual games. It's no different than movie streaming services and it's likely the new model for consumers going forward.
With game pass I'm inclined to try lots of different games and see if anything sticks. If it does I usually look for a Steam sale and add it to the library if its something I'll keep playing. Games that are 'one and done' work too since they can be finished on game pass and you never have to shell out 60 bucks for a AAA game that you never play again. The try before you buy aspect is what I like the most.
I've had Ultimate since the Series X launched. At first, I felt like "Ok, new console, nothing new at launch, a bunch of old games on GamePass..." but then better stuff showed up, and they've been acquiring studios at an aggressive pace. To echo one of your points, I spent way too much time playing Halo Infinite, and that alone would have been $60. Still, after being a console gamer since the Atari 2600, I'm done with the console ecosystems in general. I just went all PC even though I have to lose my Microsoft Store games. I'll switch to the cheaper PC Game Pass once my Ultimate expires. As you said, it keeps getting better.
@@demtingz2692 I haven’t looked in a few months, but they were often announcing what was coming soon or leaving soon. I was playing Halo Infinite heavily and that has been on for a long time. I’m not sure about other big titles.

game pass blows my mind. you get, Doom Eternal, Alien Isolation, RE7 Biohazard, Dishonored 2, Dead by Daylight, couple of Final Fantasy games, Forza Horizon 4, Fallout 76, dozen of Halo series games, Machinarium, Minecraft Dungeons, Wolfenstien Young blood, and the most mind blowing games you can get with this cheap game pass are( I still don't believe) Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Medium, CONTROL, Man of Medan (!!!), and many more for just not even half the price of a single game on other stores
I finally gt game pass after my xbox live ended. Man, I can't believe i didn't get this any sooner. I'm trying all the games I can, and now they have EA games so I can finally play Jedi fallen order
Thanks for a straight forward explanation of the Xbox Game Pass for PC service. When you put it the way you did, it really is a no brainer. Thanks Daniel ... your time and effort is truly appreciated. Cheers
Just joined. Absolutely great. The ONLY downside I'd say is the lack of third party controller support (like Steam has), meaning you basically can only use certified Microsoft controllers that work with your PC.
any controller with x-input should work. i have been using cheap Chinese wireless controllers (zhidong brand) for 2--3 years now and works on all game pass (including xcloud). PC reads them as xbox 360 controllers.
@@blackcaesar8387 I tried that but it wouldn't work, specifically with Overcooked 2. Only picked up my official PS4 controller, but not my Hori mini wired PS4 controller. Maybe I did something wrong. In any case Steam is MUCH better when it comes to the support for controllers.
@@MrCageCat I am not familiar with the HORI controller? Does windows recognize it as x-input? You'd know because it would register as an Xbox 360 controller. yeah, steam has deeper controller support. Even detects direct input only controllers.
The thing is - Game Pass is filled with shovelware - and not every game you want is going to be on Game Pass. So while you spend $120 a year - you may only like 3 or 4 out of the current titles and may not like any more for a while. Thus, you pay $240-$360 over 3 years, not really having the AAA titles you actually desire and only maybe liking 3-4 in those years. Thus - your budget over 3 years is blown and the AAA titles that come out for those 3 years (which is more likely) is gone by your wayside. Not to mention that the price per month will inevitably increase just like Netflix. And ever wonder how you pay for Netflix every month yet you spend more time scrolling and searching for something to watch rather than watching? It's a big placebo effect tricking you into thinking you're getting a good deal, but in actuality, you're not. You're being fed old games to distract you from demanding (and financing) good titles that are actually worthwhile.
But you don't need a whole year to finish three games you found interesting you could just purchase a 3 months subscription and that will make it. And whenever you find any game interesting you just purchase a month sub. atleats that's what I do
Although this is an older vid, it helped me alot , I am in the same boat as you . I've always been a Steam user and recently I wanted to play Minecraft RTX but its on the MS store, and coincidentally "free" with game pass. I just got a 4090 and wanted to see how RTX looks in it, so from that stand point, a demo service is indeed great!
@@Callmeashiey It's all Ive hoped for. I can play any game right now in 4k and get 90+ average fps with max settings. It makes my 4k monitor a great match. I can also finally enjoy Ray traced games. I can play E sport games like Overwatch at much more than 240fps, so that also goes well with the 240hz monitor.
Bro, I'm right there with you. I subscribed yesterday and this is absolutely ridiculous in an amazing way! Tried Hollow Knight, TMNT: Shredders Revenge, and OctoPath Traveler II one after the other like nothing. What an amazing time to be a gamer!
@Sporke when you first sign up for game pass ultimate you only have to pay a dollar for the first month. However they have a conversion ratio for Xbox live gold it 1:1. So Xbox game pass ultimate comes with Xbox live, game pass for PC and console, xcloud and ea play. So let's do some math, game pass ultimate is $15 a month. $15 * 12 = $180 a year. If you have Xbox live you can convert the remaining Xbox live into game pass ultimate months. So let's say you had seven months of Xbox live left and then you convert it to game pass ultimate so you have seven months left plus they give you an extra month for free so you now have 8 months of game pass ultimate. So if you buy three 12-month Xbox live then you can get 36 months of game pass ultimate for the same price as one year of game pass ultimate.

It really is. Especially because it includes ea play for free. It’s probably the best subscription service currently available, for basically any medium.
@@IAmAnEvilTaco EA play is only included with the $15/month Gamepass. Frankly, you'd be better off paying $10 a month for Gamepass basic and spending $5 a month over at origin for EA Play - as you get access to additional third-party games on origin that you don't get when you get EA Play through xBox or Steam.
I may do some follow up content about game pass, but I want to get the Big Navi videos out while the info is fresh. You are using your own hardware to run the game. So it is basically like subscribing to a library of games that can rotate in and out over time. Games in the library are basically just like they would be on Steam or similar services. You download and install it if you want to play it. The difference is that you don't own the game, so if you stop subscribing or the game rotates off the list, you will lose access (although you can buy the games at a discounted rate to keep them permanently). Microsoft does bundle in their cloud streaming beta if you sign up for the "ultimate" version, but at least for now the streaming service does not exist on PC. It works on Android phones (and I think it works on Xbox as well, but I don't currently own one to verify that.
@@danielowentech yes it's on Xbox. That's what I have it on. Still saving and waiting til around February to build an all AMD rig so don't bash me to hard. Lol
U download it and play on your hardware. Xcloud is when you stream games to any device U can get it on. Afaik the 15$ version of gamepass comes with access to xcloud
Both. The gamepass for pc subscription only offers downloads, but the gamepass ultimate subscription has streaming as well. It does only support android phones right now, but ios and windows support is coming.
Its not streaming, you download the game and play it on your pc/xbox like you would with steam (or any digital marketplace) only caveat is that when they game gets removed from gamepass (only happens with 3th party titles) you have to buy it if you want to continue playing. But this usely comes with a pretty decent discount. On the other hand Xcloud comes for free with gamepass and let's you stream your games directly to any android (and ios and pc soon).
Game pass for PC is god send for someone who lives in a third world country and can't afford to buy games every month. I also love that there are day 1 access for a selected new game that launches. It's an amazing deal right now.
I'm not, but my best friend is. The first time I saw it two friends were talking about games "Have you played [this and that] yet?", "No", "It's on GamePass" He literally downloads it while they're talking and it's ready to play. It like saying you like a movie on Netflix and your friend has Netflix so they can watch it right now. If I did ever subscribe it might just be for a month at a time randomly. I'd use it like a Demo service or to play/beat games I'd never buy otherwise. I also heard while you have the service you can get discounts on all games on the service, so if you end up liking one you can buy it for cheaper, own it, and cancel the service.
"the ultimate demo service" is a super cool way of looking at it! If you remember the Ouya, one of the huge appeals was that it was supposedly going to have demos for every game. Now imagine, some kind of service like Gamepass that's consistently super cheap ($1-5 a month) but is only demos, or first chapters of games. Then other companies besides Microsoft could afford to get in on this slice of the pie
I subscribe to Ea Play Plus ($15/m), Ubisoft+ ($15/m), and Xbox for PC ($10/m). Even spending $40 a month on these services, it's still cheaper than the average of $50-$100 a month I use to spend on buying games. My only purchases right now are the free games offered by Epic and the Steam sales, where I try to nail great deals of games that could potential leave the other services (third party games) - and that I might want to play for years to come.
If you're dumb, I am also dumb... at least insofar as Game Pass is concerned. I didn't know it had anything to do with PC until I was trying to decide how I want to acquire and play Starfield next month. A friend mentioned PC Game Pass, and I had no idea that was a thing. I'm trying to learn more, and that's how I found your video. Thanks, BTW.
Hahaha...This guy talking about how buying a gaming magazine with a demo disk is "really old". I remember renting Mega Drive games from a guy above a garage in my hometown. That's how you found what games you wanted to buy in my day 😂
I got Xbox game pass for PC when it first came out and I’m not kidding I got it for a dollar a month for like almost a year. It’s one of the best deals going for gamers. And this is the scary part everything that Activision blizzard has is coming to this service.
Only problem is that you are forced to use the Microsoft store version of the games which is the worst way to play any game, second only to playing on Mac
Forza5 and 4, devil may cry 5, nier automata, fifa 2021 and 2020 , all the need for speed games, dead space 1, 2 , 3 , mass effect trilogy, Doom eternal, stay wars games. And battlefields games
Holy snap. I always thought Xbox Game Pass was only for, ya know, Xbox. But looking at their PC library, there's so many great triple-A games on there that I've always wanted to play, but couldn't quite justify spending $60 on each with how tight my budget is. But ALL of those for just $10 a month (plus basically a free trial with that $1 first month)? Sign me up!
I don't see it simply about finishing the games though. I can try a bunch of games I never would have otherwise touched due to the price tag. Even then, if I finish one game every two or three months it would still be like paying $20 to $30 for the game which is a decent deal even if I had been able to find games on sale somewhere else.
I have just recently upgraded to Ultimate after trying for PC. It's got an insanely high value and with the XCloud, it's basically Netflix of gaming. frfr. It's what I thought Stadia would be, but Stadia is just.........okay.
Special Offers are also awesome. 3.50 for Need For Speed Heat on Steam. GTA V for 5 Bucks, Cyberpunk 2077 for 20, Watch Dogs: Legion below 10 and free games every week on Epic. Okay lots of free crap, but also got the full Tomb Raider latest set of three. Many options for pretty good games.
Despite all discussion I believe game pass still underrated. This is a revolution, Sony won in the past, but MS slowly build momentum with strategy. MS simply lowered the entry barrier: even with all the mobile devices these days, anyone that do proper work ALREADY has some laptop or pc (on the other hand few adult homes have consoles), to have some fun like console style just buy an xbox controller for a few bucks, signup for game pass and done. The cards for the future were already put on the table, just look the big studios MS acquired. I don't mind it being just a rent, because it is actually a pretty fun rent, and you still has the option to buy the game to pin on your collection and skip the rotation.
It was just launched in Thailand. First month is 80 cents with the next two months free. Then continues with 2.80 dollars a month. I wanted a long time but finally it's here and it's great.
Well I’m a bit more old school, usually I dont buy games on day one only on very rare occaisons - Witcher 3 being the example (usually that are as well game I upgrade my system for :D ) , if you buy your games later especially on PC you get them for a fraction of the price. As well and that is the old school part I like to own the games, thouse I choose to buy because on great games I replay and go back to them Mass Effect being another example. Next game I get at launch will be Cyberpunk, but other than I dont buy release date games. But I get your demo point.
Thanks Daniel for your detailed review. I just found about this today and I only wish I had watch your video earier :( :( :( For one dollar in Berlin you can get 2 beers ;)
Personally, I like to own my games instead of “streaming” them or only being able to play when subscribed. Money is of no issue. And yes, I get that you don’t actually “own” the games you purchase, but you get what I mean. Nevertheless, Game Pass just paved the way to the future of gaming. Flawlessly, I might add.
I signed up while it was in beta ($5/pm) and at the time I calculated in 2019 that I could pay for 12 years worth of Gamepass before I would have spent the money on all the games I would want to play (mostly AAA titles), and now that they keep adding its just so much better. My biggest complaint is trying to install through the Ms store, but I should try the xbox store instead.
If you get game pass ultimate, you can play console games through an Android device, through cloud gaming. Later, you can downgrade to game pass for PC. Game pass is a good value and it's worth trying out.
Yeah, I just published a review of the Android cloud streaming on Sunday. My basic takeaway was that (at least with the latency from my location) it is only good for slow paced or turn based games. But still a cool feature.
@@blueking5739 im not quite sure what you are asking. The cloud streaming is on Android, not PC. But it can use any controller that works on your Android phone as far as I know. And the PC games can obviously use any controller that works on your pc.

If you have a phone, you have Call of Duty.

Will it work for me if I bought the trial for the 1 dollar?

The try before you buy aspect is what I like the most.
why not just play it on game pass?
this is the only reason why I would be interested in PC PASS

I think the best thing about gamepass is if you and a friend have it you now have a large library of the same games and they're the most likely games to have crossplay. I could be doing some whole other shit on my pc and on a whim hit the xbox button and catch one of my friends online.
Thats a great point!
And if you both have the gamepass you don't need to ask your friends to buy some particular game.

You can get 3 years for a dollar. Just preload your account with xbox live. The max is 3 years. When you pay the dollar it converts it to game pass.

Is Game Pass "Streaming" or are you using your own hardware to run the game? do you download it ?
Are you subscribed to Game Pass? What are your thoughts?

Its ok game pass is just freaking AWESOME! I mean were getting the best 3 classic lucasgames later this week. :)

You need to ask yourself how many you can finish in 1 month. Especially your working so how many hours you play a day
I don't see it simply about finishing the games though.

Yeah I got Watchdogs 2 and Shadow of the tomb raider for free on Epic

As well and that is the old school part I like to own the games, thouse I choose to buy because on great games I replay and go back to them Mass Effect being another example. Next game I get at launch will be Cyberpunk, but other than I dont buy release date games. But I get your demo point.

Lol that’s the best way to get all the games
@@hyperdragonv2400 so, can you use the same external for the xbox pc games and steam or epic games? or does it require different formatting??
@@sianthorw5537 I would imagine you have to format it like most of the time
In the long run this is great. I’m the type that buys a game finish it then it’s there collecting dust. So you got a point. Thank goodness for gamepass 👍🏼😁
I can't stop looking at your fuzzy mic cover that keeps popping up to say hi. I think it would be more fun if you added googly eyes to it. Just say'n. Oh and agree on the games pass.
Lol. This was one of my very early videos and I wasn't quite as 'pro' with my mic placement. It sat there with like 20 views for weeks and then suddenly started getting more once my channel picked up steam.
I try on game pass and then buy on steam...love my steam library.
The Xbox app needs some work, it doesn't always free storage after an uninstall and can be buggy periodically.
The game pass has saved me a bunch of money on games I didn't end up liking... Love that aspect
This is what im considering especially when many games i want to play are on steam only. Game pass for new games steam for deep discount older games but how do we have time to play them all. Now with game pass even more games to try and play causing backlog to increase more.
@@ziljin true, my backlog of games is large now lol... Won't get to them this year
