I am just trying to learn more about jade. It is a very beautiful stone. So I will be checking out your channel a lot more. Like I said I am new to this all of it still have a few more things to do getting my shop done soon I hope
Oh that’s beautiful. I have a few pieces of nephrite Jade I got from my Big Sur trip last December. I will try to do some dremel work on them. Thanks again for sharing.
Mai Me my pleasure thanks for watching Big Sur jade is awesome I have a couple pieces gifted to me by my grandfather the are naturally smooth from the ocean :)
Nice stuff guy, good job! I'd suggest pushing it up to atleast 50000 grit...if not the 100000! Have you dabbled in the inlay of other stones?? I've got some hand cut opal that would look fantastic set in something like that but don't quite have the knowledge or skills yet!
What a great video. I got myself some jade pieces from eBay they just arrived today but I'm going to try cut and polished them tomorrow just one piece that's dark in color. Thanks again for such an informative video.
Luis Gomez Thank you so much for watching my friend these videos are really old and I need to replace them with a more modern video but I really appreciate when folks still enjoy these older episodes thanks again my friend I really appreciate it
@@lapidarydave There still very informative though as someone who's starting out these kinds of videos are a blessing. Especially for someone with a learning disability.
Sweet video bro. I have a couple boulders a medium & large size that I'll be cutting up to carve & sell soon. I have a yellow jade with black speckles & lime green edge & the green jade with the golden edge on it. Quite beautiful stuff here in Aotearoa New Zealand
Fantastic! I wish you all best of luck in making the gift feel free to ask any lapidary questions you might have and dont forget to Subscribe if you haven't already :) it really helps
Nice!!! Thanks for the Nephrite video. That's what I find the most of at my secret spot in the Mojave Desert, CA. I don't have the awesome setup you do -- I currently use a tile saw & a set of 7 diamond/resin stone polishing 5" pads on a drill (until I can afford a Cab King). I noticed the orange peel on mine the first time I polished jade -- it was really disappointing compared to chalcedony. Mine had the same cork-like pattern you showed before yours was done. My disks only go to 3,000 -- is that why I still have orange peel? It looks like you buffed it out in the end. I have many pounds of jade (maybe 75) I'd like to be able to finish to a high luster. One really odd thing I noticed about the jade I find is that the size of the grain usually goes up with the size of the stone I find -- the smallest pebbles have the finest grain.
hard to avoid undercutting on jade, surprised it wasnt mentioned in the video. from the research i have done it sounds like you want to stay away from felt in the polishing stage. tin polishing lap is recommended or tin oxide on leather. let the stone heat up during polish. avoid loose abrasives, sandpaper, grinding stones. the big company in bc uses diamond all the way up, i think to 50,000.
PolyBoy fantastic! It’s a very special material that is getting harder and harder to get in good qualities outside of NZ I’d love to see the finished product my friend:) if you haven’t done so already please consider subscribing to the channel it really helps out
There are a lot of activists that fight for their water rights out here in the west I think I got this sticker in Taos from someone who made these a few years ago to raise awareness for their cause
Ace Garcia oh yea I definitely do ! :) I can make them all different sizes at different prices if you know how much you’d like to spend also I could cut and drill you a custom piece that you design yourself

Nephrite is not harder than quartz/jasper, nephrite being 6 - 6.5 on the MS and quartz/jasper 7, but it shure is a though material.
