It was banned by the BBC who did it like the lyrics”tied to the bed waiting to be fed”. No Airplay, no hit record. However, on reflection Omnibus was a brilliant catchy song and would almost certainly have continued the band’s run of hit singles.
My first time listening to this song is today. I must listen to it again when I awake to fully tune in. Got lured here by life in an interesting way, Thanks for the upload. Why should I call you Jane?
A great rocker from the pen of Roy Wood, it's such a pity it failed to grab the UK record buyer's attention, it was The Move'a first flop single. I'm sure if the 'A' and 'B' sides were switched, "Omnibus" would have been a certain top five smash hit.
actually no i think this is a great a-side, and should've done better, but omnibus was good also, and there's an extended version too! sure i saw a channel of b-sides only yesterday?
Superb!
yes so good. great band.
It still amazes me that this brilliant single (b/w Omnibus) missed the charts after all the hits The Move had scored beforehand.
yes great a and b-side, it happened to a lot of bands.

both great tracks.radio 1 bbc banned it though.
@@christineanne1453 They ban Shirley Bassey back then as well, she sure was a Wild Tiger Woman. Love from Miami Florida to you both, 💯
Jeff wasn't with the MOVE when they recorderd this title.-
One disliker, must be the guy from the BBC who got this song banned!
thanks clive, sorry not getting all notifs. should have been a hit, no airplay though, cheers.
Who's singing the "the ground would open up and take me in" part?
Trevor Burton.
Nice to hear this again Jane! Pretty advanced sounding song for it's early '68 recording. How long has it been out in stereo? Tiger.
without checking about 9 years tiger, should have been a hit! have a good week, jane.
Homage to Jimi Hendrix?
Hmmm - another one, I think, where the B-side was better. Someone REALLY IS going to have to start a "should'vebeenana-side" channel.
actually no i think this is a great a-side, and should've done better, but omnibus was good also, and there's an extended version too! sure i saw a channel of b-sides only yesterday?
You probably did, Jane. All the good ideas have been bagged. Roy Wood liked this one, but the BBC Fun Police did not!
Piano not very prominent in this version!
The stereo version is garbage compared to mono.
