    Great build! For bending the engine deck grilles no specialized tool is needed: I'd recommend using the stem of a paintbrush. Choose large or small according to the desired radius of the bend. Worked nicely for me on the exhaust shrouds of a Tiger I.

Daren't do that black basing myself, think zenithal highlighting using halfords black, gray then white or maybe just black then white. What a superb build review & wonderful looking final product! 👍👍 I greatly appreciated your detailed discussion regarding the fit issues that I had heard about, AND cannot thank you enough for taking the time to share & demonstrate your recommendations re: workarounds/solutions to the problems. I now feel as if I could handle the kit's (inexcusable) problems & get the result that I would hope for! 👍👍😊
    FWIW, I get the impression that Border Models (who has made mistakes before but has continually improved), did a very thorough job of designing the usual & ubitiquous T34 tank...it seems to be well-engineered....and then it seems that another person or team in the company was assigned the job of designing/engineering the additional armour & adding to the instruction booklet. It appears that 'the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing' & vice versa! It's a shame, because it's a unique model with the additional armour. So, kudos to you for coming up with a new approach & persevering through all the frustrating & time-consuming repairs! 👍👍

    Hey James, this got me thinking about whether U.S. had spaced armor usage, russians did, germans did. There were some pershings given a large amount of frontal spaced armor. Turns out shermans in the pacific theater had large amounts of field modifications ranging from space armor made out of wood/metal/cement/sand bags/ track links to welding spikes/nails to top of the tank. Just need look up okinawa shermans to see what I'm going on about. Can go nuts with spaced armor, anything that could be considered usable armor adds on were used, even random sticks/branches were used. Food for thought an perhaps a future project. Awesome work btw, always on look out for tank builds, never bored watching = D

It's a fantastic build and awesome detail! The metal barrel is useless and can't be used apart from that it's beautiful! The slide Moulded barrel is really well done it's the first time I've used a kits barrel for a long time but it's nice track's can only be wethered with acrylics or will fall to bits with enamels ! That's the exact same way I done my crusader with that mottled effect! It was a first for me and looks amazing! Have you tried AK washable white paint for white washes yet? It's good! I got it ina sherman weathering set you get real nice painted field effect white wash and runs!

    Love your videos and weathering techniques man. Great job! Two things: You seem to use way less glue than I do. I wonder if it is because your glue is somehow more efficient, or I am just doing it wrong for 30 years. I used Tamiya, Humbrol and Gunze Sangyo glues. Second question is about the transparent plastic parts like windows or glass in the reflectors. I glue them on after painting my models, so styrene glue cannot be used. I go for CA glue, which often leaves "smoke" on those parts. How do you do this?

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Radek !
      I used to use Tamiya glue and still do In a spot, I'm often quite slapdash with application too, you don't need a lot, as long as they are wet when joining you're all good.
      For clear parts I like Revell contacta clear ot VMS transpa fix 6k. Revell is water based and dries In about 20 mins, but it's not overly durable, vms is solvent based and cleans up with white spirit, it takes a lot longer to dry but is a lot tougher, neither of these fog the plastic, hope that helps !

      @@lpjmodels great James! I will give them a try. Also I'm planning now on doing a WW1 diorama. For this purpose, I'm searching lots of websites to find some 35th scale figures. Do you know some websites to find them? Thanks!

    Enjoyed the video, and the shading approach. Regarding the mud you used a resin binder? I haven’t seen this before but it seems a really flexible product. I have no VMS products, is it a generally available from others ie AK? Thanks again.

    Masterclub is now taking over the Friulmodel position on the modelling market. Friul is really leting down in quality in my opinion, his moulds are wearing too much, every link needs drillling.

    • @blacklupos
      @blacklupos 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The issues with Masterclub is that they are not that easy to get, and even more expensie than friul (up to 10$ diffrence)

    You should realize the combat life span of a T34 was 14hrs how much weathering, wear and tear could there be on a tank that lasted 14hrs

    • @lpjmodels
      @lpjmodels  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I appreciate that, but how boring would it be if every t-34 model was not at all or very slightly weathered?

  • @red0guy

    Just a bit about the kit. I see that you did not correct the many mistakes of it. If anyone wants a list I could provide. Also that camo pattern was used in the winter of 41-42 so it could have not been applied to vehicles build in 43. Also the few screened 112 vehicles did survive for long so it is highly probable that they did not survive until the winter.

    I like your content, but my lord is the background music annoying. I'm sorry, I understand that military objects almost "scream" for a dramatic theme but after a few minutes of it I felt like screaming. Nice build and good to see a honest review. I'm glad I didn't buy this kit ;)
