Thanks for all the music and inspiration over the years! There's nobody quite like you! Love to see you sharing more for us, and love to see especially that you seem happy. Hail to Striborg from the ancient forests and eldritch bogs of New England.
It's great to finally see a video of Russel explaining his musical beginnings and origins. Look forward for future material. Respect from the bogs of Kildare, Ireland.
Super excited to see what you share with us this year. I remember listening to In Between Worlds for the first time......after listening to 100s of new bands over the last few years your music was just something I didn't know could exist in the way I needed it to. So, thank you for that. Got me through some really difficult times.
Can't describe the excitement I felt when seeing this video this morning. Can't wait to see what comes of the channel, there's a lot of potential. Hope you're well Russ, respect from the northern end.
i listen to your music everyday to being able to get to sleep faster . thank you for everything . ur musik , philosophy and just way to live is something truly admirable , will always be an influence
A very intimate and meditative insight on the early years of yourself! As someone who is autistic, I can't describe how heartwarming it was to see you sound so passionate when talking about Kathaaria and your history with Krucifior! I'm very much looking forward to what's to come from your channel :)
Striborg was one of the first raw black metal bands that really "hit" with me, in the 2000s. I bought a CD randomly from a mail order in Canada, and it was unlike anything I had ever heard. Thank you.
Very cool stuff :) super happy little upload to find... I have most of the discography (all the bm stuff, but I love and respecdt everything made since too) but I tell you.... xasthur and striborg were the soundtrack of my teens... I still find myself hypnotised and trancing out to your music (when I allow myself to go into that space, a bit rare these days). Very rare I see an upload so unexpected and exciting (Fan moment over)
I was waiting until I was more sober to make a comment, but I've gone the complete opposite direction - I'm fucking drunk as a skunk mate, but I love your shit and love the art you gave to us. Cheers brah
Man id love to see a dark take on some of the more popular electronic music like Drum N Bass, keep doing whatever comes to you man really cool to see how unapologetic you were when you branched out into electronic music
Hello Russell, is interesting that you will add in future some various argoments on your channell, I'm curious because your creativity is every cool! I found also interesting about your idea to talk about the cooking with your recipes; I'm happy to learn new things about it because I love the food 😀. In this video when you talk about about your first Striborg registrations I found the sound and the songs in "A Tragic Journey Towards the Light" very genial; is particulary mysterious and dark at the same time! Great job and great album in the history of BM. I'm glad to heard your story, my regards and cheers from Italy, Andrea.
Excellent video Russ. I subscribed. Thanks for sharing the great stories. Will you be getting back to the more traditional black metal sound? Really digging the drumming in this video. Looking forward to future content.
THE KIND OF BLACK METAL YOU USED TO DO HAS BEEN REALLY INFLUENTIAL FOR ME SINCE I'M A MUSICIAN TOO.REGARDING, YOUR NEW STYLE...JUST KEEP GOING.ART MEANS FREEDOM👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
You was destined to be a drummer well before that. Saturday night as kids, listening to the metal show on the radio, you always did the air drums :) Looking forward to hearing more.
honestly really glad youre finally releasing more content on youtube, your music has been really inspirational for me so ill be glad to be a part of a new chapter
Hey Russ, if you’re going to be doing an interactive TH-cam channel, I’d suggest replying to all the comments, even if it’s just a short interaction. I know plenty of bigger channels that take the time to do that, and from the 66 comments here, you’ve only replied to one. Of course I don’t know your working schedule, and since it’s not long since you uploaded this, I’ll assume you’re busy, but just saying. On another topic, who knew there was a Cannabis Corpse before Cannabis Corpse?😂 Looking forward to more insights in the future, and hope to get to Tassie again soon 🤞
I feel like Striborg had a era that was heavily influenced by for example, Velvet Cacoon's "Genevieve" and "Northsuite", and maybe possibly Clandestine Blaze? The era im speaking of is, 2007's "Ghostwoodlands", "Solitude", etc. The production became alot dense and layered, the tracks became alot longer, more hypnotic riffing etc etc. How much truth is there to it? I know that Velvet Cacoon was in close touch with Shane from Abyssic Hate, and Scott from Xasthur, but it also might be a coincidence. Just that every time i listen to that 2007,2008 period of Striborg, i cant help but feel like theres some influences going on.
And while I'm sure you don't care as an ex fan you need to realize you are also currently a joke in the black metal underground having abandoned the style and your early fans for such weak poser synth and ambient stuff. Thankfully we still have Archgoat and Mutiilation. Too late to put on some corpsepaint and attempt to regain past cred, you're ruining what's left of your legacy, the current true underground black metal scene is beyond intolerant.
Black metal is all about individualism, not about pleasing the mainstream, fitting in, or doing what others want. Sin-Nanna embodies the true spirit of the genre, and so i dont think he cares what others think, or if you think hes kvlt, or whatever.
@@z0h33y Striborg was supposed to perform on a boat cruise with Mortiis last year. Due to miscommunication and lack of professionalism by the event organiser, Russell missed the boat. Some angry voicemails and Facebook comments were made and everyone moved on. No reason to bring it up than to stir old drama.
@@z0h33yComplete nonsense. He abandoned the scene, the style, the sound, and the fans that supported him, individualism is to be expressed within some understanding of black metal framework or principles, rapping in a white tracksuit over turntables even if the lyrics were satanic (if this was your supposed medium of artistic expression) wouldn't be black metal would it. Sin-Nanna embodies poser, and the underground will not forget nor forgive
I'm 100% here for the Striborg cooking lessons
Very cool to see this, waiting for more vids to come!
Thank you, love Striborg!
