It was all I had trying to survive a dangerous abusive relationship. Sinead O'Connor has every experience in her album. In this song she is talking about her mother being dead but it can also relate to any kind of break up. This song is a tribute to her mother though. My mother also died when I was only 6 so this song blew my mind.

Sinead combined a traditional Irish form of singing called "sean nos" with her training in bel canto singing, and this is the powerful result. It's very emotional. Very simple, not a lot of vocal gold or showing off, but huge emotion.
