I absolutely adore this glorious epic track and have adopted it as my anthem to those who weren't interested when I was down and low in a bad place but suddenly crawl out of the wood work as soon as I'm back on my feet and excelling in life. It's just such a joyful f you song ❤ Thank you for being the 1st reactor to do this awesome track 👌
David Mcalmont has a body work spanning nearly 40 years. An incredible vocalist & songwriter spanning various genres. Check out HiFi Sean & David McAlmont for their 2023 album. I get to see them next Saturday in Omeara London.
One of my favourite tunes from the 90's, never get bored of hearing it, and it got played a lot! ps. More Suede please 😁 (The Wild Ones, Stay Together, or some of their newer stuff, they're still amazing).
Wow. Color me surprised. I never thought you’d react to this gem. Had the cd and singles….but this is the standout track for sure. Good on ya, mate. Speaking of collaborations…I am just dying to your reaction of the new Liam Gallagher x John Squire collab single “Just Another Rainbow”. They are bringing guitar based britpop back to the masses…at long last.
@insignificantnick it's about being gaslit...I feel well enough to tell you...they tell you you're crazy & unwell...until someone with a certificate points out that you're not 😭😭💜😘😘 xx
This is such a big song with very overwhelming backing music but the vocals are also so big that they aren't drowned out at all. I would say it was so different to anything else that was out at the time though not different enough not to be not classed as Brit Pop. A glorious song that even though it's not one I've listened to much since those days it is a classic. Even though it's a very different song it reminds me of another song I think you've already reacted to, maybe because they were in the charts at the same time, The New Radicals - You Get What You Give.
Heard this on the Radio for the first time (Absolute Radio, UK). I'm normally into Rock and Metal, but what an amazing song! I thought it was a women singing with 60s soul vibe. A fantastic and happy song. Great music and great band who put this together. Thank you!
Absolutely amazing voice, with the strings, drums….and Bernard Butler getting lost playing for his life on his Gibson 355 (I was lucky enough to see them play this at a charity concert and also on the same gig was Johnny marr, Noel Gallagher, the charlatans & Paul Weller and they were all collaborating with each other pretty much at point through the night ) I said to my wife after that gig I don’t think we need to go to another concert again surely it can’t get any better than this …keep up your sterling work with your Chanel it’s brilliant ! ! ! Have you ever reacted to Shed7 or mansun ? Another 2 from the 90’s that are worth a listen 👍
Yes that IS a bloke singing main vocals! amazing vocals HERE. You should react to Delays - Wanderlust taken from their debut album Faded seaside glamour. Agree with the Phil Spector vibe. Tremendous tremendous song. C
Oh thank you for reacting to this, one of my favourite singles and also one of my favourite quotes (the cathedral one!). Few artists manage to capture that retro feel and bring it into the now, these guys did, Amy Winehouse did. Thank you for an excellent breakdown. David McAlmont also has an amazing cover of Diamonds Are Forever with the film composer David Arnold (who produced it) also in the video hamming it up.
That’s not correct. It was written by David McAlmont and Bernard Butler. You can see David McAlmont talking about it here: th-cam.com/video/19DLZPI5Qmk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qFb3BEIahvOz3VGZ
I was 15 when this came out and my favourite bands at the time were Metallica, Rage Against the machine, and Pearl Jam.... I instantly loved this joyous song lol
An interesting fact about that song is that they forgot to write a second verse & ran out of time in the studio, so they just doubled down and sang the same verse twice. David McAlmont is such a nice guy, one of the best singers the UK produced in the 90s.
Hmm never heard them before don't think I liked it much like you say though he has a great voice. You and all the other comments are very positive though so maybe I should give them more of a chance.
About time someone reacted to this classic!
Honesty one of the most banging song ever 🎉
One of my favourites ever ever

Bought this single the same day I bought common people single by pulp
That was a good day’s shopping
1.99 each on cassette from Our Price, 2 Taz Bars for 20p and enough change for the 50p bus home.
@@AG-gr4yx75p for 10 Benson and Hedges to smoke on the way home 👍
I adore this song. It is like britpop track with a RnB vocal. Perfect blend of two different styles.

Ps..HiFi Sean is the former vocalist of The Soup Dragons who had a big hit with 'Divine Thing' & 'Im Free' in the 90s
I'm 99% punk or heavy heavy metal, but this song gets me every time. Nothing quite like it. Best break up song ever.
Wow, I agree 🎉
Glorious… wonderful… an absolute favourite.. I love the songs you react to. Coming from a Gen X woman 😊

Thank you so much for reacting to this wonderful track, really appreciated 👍
This has been my favourite song for thirty years. Seeing your face as you listened brings me such joy.
It's a beautiful, soaring song! I'd recommend their cover version of 'Zoom' by Fat Larry's Band, too
always thought that was a Stevie Wonder song!

Yes, I heard it. John and Liam coming together is an absolute treat!
The UK. 1995. What a fucking time to be alive and what a place to live.
I miss those days - the UK has gone down the pan.
@@randomnesspersonified Agreed. 🤝
yeh definatly better times. so many great bands, not much internet or mobile phones. people were much more social back then.
"Oooooh the good old days". Move On!

Can recommend their track Falling. its epic
I looooove this song ❤

I remember the first time I heard this song, I thought that I was listening to Dusty Springfield.
It does sound like a female vocalist 100%.
Bernard Butler's first production, amazing...
And thus song brings me to tears, love this, underrated group x
This is brilliant...see The Voice UK singer JOLAN version very good too ... ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS. XXXX
Excellent sir

Best version of this song is the live one on later with jools Holland tv show from the 90’s ….one of the greatest live performances ever ! !
Yes! I watched that after this, and it's great. McAlmont's voice may be better live!

“Not Alone” by Bernard Butler as a solo artist is also well worth a listen…an underrated single from the same time !
One of the best vocal performances I f all time 🏴🏴♥️💥
Classic 🎉
I'm ancient enough to remember this first time round. What a tune.

Great song ❤ i remember it from a young girl but hearing it now really means alot after recovery.
Amazing voice.. absolutely love him...❤xx
I read that it was originally written for Morrissey, but he knocked it back, saying that he loved it but it was out of his vocal range.
That’s not correct. It was written by David McAlmont and Bernard Butler. You can see David McAlmont talking about it here: th-cam.com/video/19DLZPI5Qmk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qFb3BEIahvOz3VGZ

Classical to heavy rock. This one is a beauty🤘🏻
It’s simply one of the best vocal performances ever 👌🏼

I did always wonder about that; he does a great job of making it sound very different though.
They didn’t run out of time at all. McAlmont hadn’t written a second verse. He could have but Butler suggested he sing it twice.
Pure class ❤
great tune
When this came out I thought Dionne Warwick had come out of retirement ! Superb.
Makes me cry everytime I hear this and I don't know why..must be hidden in my subconscious
I mean, it's a glorious, moving song!
Brilliant brilliant song
Glorious
You should try the full version of Stay Together by Suede for another classic.
This is the nineties in the UK. We didn't know we were born.
Best fuck you tune ever. If you’re gonna go ott, then you go thermonuclear, just like this. The album was great as well
The greatest "F you!" song
The Jools Holland version is even better!
❤
Watch FALLING ...brilliant xxx
One of the greatest songs. Typically it did not do that well.

Only someone totally incapable of joy doesn’t like this song.
@@Dreyno hehe appreciate I'm in a minority not liking it dreyno it's just not something that appeals to me glad most people disagree though

@@dominicaaaaa5547 Have you been tested? Just to be sure 😑
@@Dreyno I have not but I will add it to my to do list
It's a very good tune, but the lyrics are very repetitive. Is a second verse and a middle eight too much to ask for???
David is God Giving the Voice is glorious
