In this clip, Jon B reflected on once feeling threatened by Robin Thicke's success, noting their similarities as both coming up under Babyface as white R&B singers. Although he's a fan of Thicke's music he remembers at the time being humbled by the "Blurred Lines" singer seemingly surpassing him in fame, where at one point he even half-heartedly challenged him to a singing battle back in the mid 2000's, though now he says he'd much rather prefer a collaboration.
Later on in the segment, Jon B speaks on how he's released several albums independently after 2004's Stronger Everyday, adding that he's been able to maintain continued success by adapting to the ever-changing music industry since the golden age of R&B.

They were white singers that had very soulful voices that had a song or 2-3 that crossed over onto the R&B chart, and Michael McDonald had a collabo with Patty Labelle whereas Jon B sang strictly R&B that may have had some pop cross over.
I don’t know anyone who listens to Robin Thicke 😂 Jon B on the other hand has classics that people of all races listen to and They Don’t Know will forever be one of the smoothest slow jams ever made. That one solidified him as a legend.
