Great job! I'm currently rebuilding my driveway with pavers and I know what it's like to get half way through and think "what the hell am I doing? Can I even do this?" Usually in UK we have a skirting board at the base for the wall. From the word 'Skirt'. The one at the top of the wall is a 'coving'. You can use sticky tape at edges t like the top of the wall to make sure you do a straight line.
Is the Bubushka going to increase your rent next year on the back of your hard work? Do o not be pushed around by her. Demand same rent or only inflation.

Your apartment looks great! Buy the things you really need a little at a time. You can continue to upgrade a little at a time. That's a lot of work, but in a small place, it is worth it. Are you going to replace the lighting? Do you have fuse boxes or circuit breakers there? You can shut off the electricity to the light circuit nf maybe put in a ceiling fan with a light in it there? I imagine you'll do those things when the weather gets cold again. I love your videos. I'm learning Russian, too. I'd love to at least visit to see the Museums, the sites, parks, wilderness, etc. and maybe stay for a while. Why did you have Internet there? Did you have to order it? Did you have to buy a modem and router for WiFi, or does that come with the service there? Your apartment came out cute! ❤
One of the absolute best things about soviet flats must be the thick concrete walls that provide excellent sound isolation:) Worst thing ever to live with walls leaking all the sounds to/from your neighbours ^-^

This building is on the municipal demolition list, which means the owners of these condos will be given new condos in one of the skyscrapers being constructed nearby. In a situation like that owners don't normally invest in redecoration.
@@lisa_with_love exactly, it made sense for you as a person planning to actually live there for an extended period. For the owners it isn't worth it because there is always someone ready to rent the flat as it is. Btw, you did a great job👍

As someone who is also renovating for the first time in his adult life I can say it is a ton of hard work and kinda sucks, but the results are worth it in the end... I suppose.. I am still not even mid way through as I had to tear everything down to the studs in two rooms. Erg so much work... Hopefully mine looks as good as yours when I am finished!
