It's nice they explain the tactics here. This was never done in EHM so I always set to letting the coach handle it, which I will probably do here too anyway.
Love this! I've been learning this game and pieced a few things together, but this really helped and I feel like I'm ready to get cracking with my save now! Hoping to see the first week one. :)
Glad this helped. Dependant of what club you pick your first week may differ (eg some European clubs do single year contracts) but if your heading to the NHL you’ll be fine
Agreed. It would be nice to see more detailed tutorial on what goes into creating lines, the strategy for drafting, contracts, dressing or not, how to work with minor leagues, calling up and down, that type of thing still escapes me. I have been watching hockey for 30 years, I know enough to follow a game on TV (game format, rules, etc), but I was hugely humbled at what goes into managing a team and on-ice strategies. Especially roster building because I'm used to football: Draft, Sign, Play. Not the intricate minor league system the NHL has.
This is really helpful! Wish this had came out sooner as I’ve spent god knows how long mucking around trying to work things out. It’s a pity the skin/layout is a bit weird, especially in comparison to football manager.
@@Jizmochan I can imagine. Can only get better and better with time. If they’re able to replicate FM in terms of ease of inserting custom facepacks and having a wider range it would be top tier! Another tutorial I’d like to see would relate to signing players as I know how to do it in FM but this is just completely different. Is it the same as in FM where stars (either scouted or consensus) are tied to the league/team you’re in/with and the ability of scouts?
I would say that adding faces into FHM is probably easier than FM. It’s just a case of going into your saved game graphics folder and photos and then putting the images in there. It wouldn’t be hard to make something like that and I’ve already built a playlist aimed towards learning the game Signing players is definitely on my to-do list as it’s very league dependent (for example in the UK you’d hire them on a year by year basis but in the US you’d sign them on multi year contracts with clauses and could lose them if you have a certain clause and try to move them down a team Star wise it is based on the league that you are in. Looking at a player who is 3 stars for you when you manage a UK team might then drop to a 1 star player when looking at him from an NHL team. You also get your scouts telling you what they think the ability is, the general consensus about his ability and the scouting grade will give you a idea of how close they may hit their potential from a-e
@@Jizmochan so in theory I can make a similar face pack? That maybe explains why faces I’ve imported in game don’t always load/dissapear. Thats great re; videos in pipelines and cheers for help with other bits!
Unless you want to mess around with QuickStarts, you’ll need to do it in game. Once in, you go select Commissioner Mode and force trades to set up things how you like them on Day 1
The UI grows on you especially if you’ve seen it evolve from its original 10 years back. If you have it, pick your favourite team, delegate anything you either don’t want to/can’t figure out to do and give it a blast. You may be surprised how much you pickup quickly
Thanks for doing this! Just one thing though, it would have been nice, when you have the file folders on screen, to zoom in on them, it's hard to read the folder names and stuff.
Right choices will just take trial and error. You’ll get there. RFA/UFAs… blimey. There will be more to it but just to summarise in a comment. At the end of the entry level contract, they can become an RFA which would mean that the team would need to offer a contract or they player becomes UFA. If they do offer a contract but the player wants to go elsewhere, then the new team basically have to give the old team something. UFAs are over 27 or 7 years league experience. They can up and sign anywhere else at the end of their contract with the old team getting anything
How do you manage the finances good cause I started a save went the who year and couldn’t get pass July 1st cause I was out of points but even when I select the lowest things I still run out and then u have to make a new save… like is there ways to make more points
You can either add a face pack or manually add player photos. Both are relatively easy. I could probably put something together pretty fast and get something up for you (potentially tonight)
I don’t believe there is much of a difference between 9 and 10 when it comes to logos. As long as you have the historical era logo in your save games logo folder, it should appear in whatever year the team appears

I may tweak here and there but I like to let the assistants deal with tactics

Finally someone made a tutorial I have been waiting for some to do it.
What bit did you find helpful?
@@Jizmochan No joke. Everything.
Hell of a job on this one mate!
Thanks. It was one of these ideas what came to me one morning and rattled around my head all day at work

Glad you found it helpful. The layout can take a bit of getting used to but has improved massively since the early days of FHM

You may have to tick a setting. I’ll double check it tonight when I’m home and will re-reply to let you know for sure
Thanks for the guide, the spot in Eastern Europe you didn't recognise is russia btw haha
Great ! Спасибо за гайд, по установке лого. Sps

(Hopefully Google Translate worked)
I feel like I will be following my team and rooting for them because I don’t know hockey
What’s your team?
thank you for your video ! Can you tell me how can we transfer player before start a "game" ? in the settings or ?

I have no idea how you figured out how to do all of this. I got so frustrated with the UI I couldn't play. This makes me want to give it another go.

Interesting Jim Pappin is a scout when he died a few years ago lol

Got your self a new subscriber this game is really confusing for my high schooler brain 😢
Thanks for the sub. Which bits melt your brain

Never had much of a problem. For the annual finance, I may make small adjustments and the monthly I always make sure there’s a positive balance left
Is there any way to add player faces yourself? And if so how do you do it? Appreciate the work you’ve put in to help me and others!

@@Jizmochan if you could show how to manually add player photos that would be awesome!
I might be able to do one better than that for you
@@Jizmochan you legend! Looking forward to it
Its just dropped for you
The file I downloaded did not have a quick games folder. Just drop the 3 individual folders in there?
Love the TH-cam name :)
Dependant on what the download was, you should be fine dropping it into your saved game folder
Since they added the logo packs for 10 how do you do it since its different and how do you do it for the historical era to if you dont mind me asking?

I don't get it. It's basically a really nice looking Excel spreadsheet. How is this fun?
Different strokes for different folks I guess
if you aren't passionate about hockey then you definitely won't have any interest in it
