Just when I think I’ve figured out how to squat for my body, I learn something else that feels better and start from scratch. The never ending journey...
Bro, your way of explaining things and breaking the setup down using the utmost details is amazing! I listened to this video using my blue tooth speaker, and I was able to visualize everything you were saying without having to watch the video. You should start a podcast.
I must say that this series of tutorials you did for Mindpump Channel are the most clear, you managed to explain a lot with a big simplicity: as a coach I need to study even how to explain things too, and this videos have been a great help. Thank you.
Interested in seeing a talk about shoes selection for deadlift/ squatting though! The cue for upper back, and 123 steps finally answered some of my older questions. Thank you, enjoy your off season
I have to say THANK YOU! I have been doing squats as mark rippetoe explains and I always fuck my lower back and cant move any weight. Using your advice and cues in this video my weight shot up instantly and I feel good while squatting.
This video helped me with my squat A LOT, I had troubles with squats hurting my lower back & knees and had to take a a long brake of doing them because of it. Now i can actually squat without hurting myself, thank you man. Ps. Have anyone told you that you look like Henry Cavill? You could throw on a superman costume and only difference people would notice would be "holy shit superman got big" haha
My shoulder mobility is terrible for low bar squats. I have to use a wide tumb less grip and I still get shoulder pain. I was wondering if your grip gives you wrist pain or elbow pain?
Hi Ben, great video! Recently filmed my squat and the bar tend to shift more to my left side. I notice you're doing the same when you unrack. Is this fine or you think this can cause issue on the long term?
I've been trying to be better at it but I have a hard time pushing them down that far. I may try Ben's grip, I generally use the Rippetoe style of fingers and thumb behind the bar.
Nathan Carmichael I realize now that I should have said cue and it’s propagating through the comments lol. So to avoid further confusion, I meant to say cue*. But yes, that’s when it should help man 🤘
I don't think it's a good idea, but everyone is built differently; you may need that exaggerated arch. My concern is that it's common for people to feel more comfortable with a lumbar arch because that's what they're used to and/or because their abs are weak.
Ben Pollack well man I just wanted to thank you! Just finished squatting 400 for the first time in my life, you are one of my biggest inspirations right now and even though I will never be at your level, you are an awesome role model in terms of strength and physique. Keep up the good work man!!
Yeah man! It's actually really easy and you can do it yourself. You just take the little pointy thingy on your screen and you click on the part of the timeline you want to watch.
"my body isnt built great for squatting"... squats 800lbs lolol
lmao fair. my body isn't built for PRETTY squatting
To be fair I think ben just man handles the weight into submission..

"I don't have a great build for squatting... I have inefficient leverages."
*Squats 800lbs.*
WELL THEN!

One of the best squat demonstrations I have seen so far. 👊🏿👊🏿👌🏿👌🏿 helps me so much
Oh dam, quality on point.
Thats all i needed was a break down step by step and you gave that knowledge to me! Thank you!

Lol, "otherwise I've got all that load on my fingers and it's not a good look."
Got this video and my new SBD’s, right after squatting. Shouda benched instead.

Hi Ben, great video!
Recently filmed my squat and the bar tend to shift more to my left side. I notice you're doing the same when you unrack. Is this fine or you think this can cause issue on the long term?
Never thought about keeping elbows under the bar for the sake of indirectly keeping my torso more upright. That’s actually an amazing queue
I've been trying to be better at it but I have a hard time pushing them down that far. I may try Ben's grip, I generally use the Rippetoe style of fingers and thumb behind the bar.
you reckon this queue would help if i tend to have too much forward lean at the heavier weights ? might keep me more upright..
Nathan Carmichael I realize now that I should have said cue and it’s propagating through the comments lol. So to avoid further confusion, I meant to say cue*. But yes, that’s when it should help man 🤘
RAGEfit yeah I typed it and I was like Hm that doesn’t look right 😂 alright man cheers I’ll give it a crack later
cue* lol queue is a whole other thing
I've got the wide stance down. I gat atg with my legs as wide as the rack.
Francois Theron is your “Pew pew” ok? 😂
can you do a tutorial on sump? much appreciated
You mentioned neutral spine a few times. I have found that a slightly exaggerated lumbar arch feels much better for me. Any opinion?
I don't think it's a good idea, but everyone is built differently; you may need that exaggerated arch. My concern is that it's common for people to feel more comfortable with a lumbar arch because that's what they're used to and/or because their abs are weak.
Shorter movement w lowbar squat
I have similar leverages to you. It has definitely made squatting a challenge for me
Great information man! Awesome! And today is my squat day!
I have really poor hip mobility, would you recommend a narrower stance?
Definitely. Work on your mobility too, but going wide when you lack mobility probably won't turn out well.
Ben Pollack well man I just wanted to thank you! Just finished squatting 400 for the first time in my life, you are one of my biggest inspirations right now and even though I will never be at your level, you are an awesome role model in terms of strength and physique.
Keep up the good work man!!
Jeff nippard teaches elbows back on the decent.
Jeff nippard can't Squat 800
That's the best squat demonstration I've seen
Ben lookin joocy no homo
Those plates in the background giving me anxiety.. 😖😖
Now that’s a funky ass grip lol
Is there a way you can cut the worthless 30sec opening monologue to these videos? thnx
Yeah man! It's actually really easy and you can do it yourself. You just take the little pointy thingy on your screen and you click on the part of the timeline you want to watch.
Now if I could just figure out how to cut your worthless comments...
😂😂😂 Well Said Ben!
Squats. Lol. Ego lift
