    You're sucha life saver. I've recently downloaded the free tier of blender and octane. I was super confused as to why my older projects where just rendering in white.
    I finally found out that you have to use the node system octane uses and not blenders. which really put me off and I almost deleted the program cause, I was a little intimidated by learning a new work flow. Thanks to you, I've started to gain a little more confidence in this! I found octane to be WAY more useful and easier to use than blenders nodes. Thanks for showing us all these tips man!

    Finally some good videos on octane for blender! I remember when this came out a lot of youtubers made videos on it and then never touched it again. Glad to see someone showing off the full power of this setup (it is mind blowing that this is free)

      You have to use the Vertex Displacement node. TPM won't work on a regular Displacement Texture node.

    Is it hard to do brush metal(like stainless steel) in Octane for Blender?

    • @finalresult3d
      @finalresult3d  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No not really, you have have a few options. You can use noise and stretch it, then scale it down really far. Change the metallic material from Octane to GGX then play with the anisotropic value and rotation. Or use a good ol image texture :)

    Great video, already subscribed! One question: can I use vertex displacement to displace a cube and have the displacement generated without any seams/holes showing up? I tried using box projection and did not manage to succeed. Is triplanar node the key here?

    • @finalresult3d
      @finalresult3d  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not tried that, I know Lino has a video on vertex displacement on the Nvidia Studio channel. Maybe that can help you out.

  • @GrandeGio95

    I've a question for you:
    About the ripple animation on 25:30, if you want to do a seamless ripple animation you can't simple turn the X Translation up, you need to mirror the displace that go right and "out of camera" at the beginning of the "camera" in order to loop correctly. Am I right? How can I do such a thing? I've tried but failed :(

    • @finalresult3d
      @finalresult3d  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I am not sure on the seamless, I have not tried that yet. I now Blender has the ocean/wave modifier that you could animate.

    I use the standard renderers (Evee, Cycles and Radion ProRender)
    But prefer to use the better LuxCoreRender, Appleseed and Octane.
    Octane is my preferred renderer but has a slightly higher learning curve so these tutorials are great.

    Is this triplanar projection option is included in cycles?

    • @finalresult3d
      @finalresult3d  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not think that it is available natively, but you can make one out of separate nodes. Octane is just way easier for that I believe.

    Hi i think the hdri need projection. So i pluged in 3d transform or rotation transform to spherical projection and than to the image"s projection slot and now i can rotate the hdri aniwhere

    • @finalresult3d
      @finalresult3d  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use the full transform and slide the Translation "X" value. That will make the HDRI Rotate

    • @finalresult3d

      If you use the displacement modifer and put the texture in there you can. You will have to subdivide it a lot, and it will use more memory.

I am not sure if this build is even RTX enabled but, yeah I is really fast! It is quick even on my laptop, that is only running a 1070 max-q. I wonder why Blender with all its nodes does not have this one. One thing I did learn recently is that you cannot plug a noise node to the vector input of another noise node to drive the evolution of that node in octane. That option Does not exist in octane blender and there is no conversion. I really wish there was a Blender version which had the best of blender and octane together. The quality of octane render with vertex displacement puts it above blender and some of the mapping options, but some options in blender are way better. Annoying.
