I'm running around genuinely trying to understand how Trump supporters (or anyone supporting the nominations) think about president Trump's cabinet's picks. I've watched the entire DeVos and Tom Price hearings which was more than 4.5 hrs worth of material (as well as the 2 most recent court cases against Trump regarding the ban and the TRO which was more than 2 hrs worth of material, but that's besides the point). So far it seems they aren't even able to answer the simplest questions (and I understand the opposition sometimes, if not often, asks polititcally extreme yes/no questions to lure the nominee into agreeing to something which will be impossible to carry out in the future, but I'm not even referring to these) e.g. Simple question for DeVos on "...equal standards of accountability..." or the one for Tom Price "...shouldn't harm people by doing things that would increase an anxiety about healthcare..." (I have more examples than these, but not off the top of my head right now, I am willing to pull them out upon request if someone is genuinely open for a discussion/tutorial/debate). I am so sick of hearing things through the media (be it Fox/CNN/Trump's twitter/political satire outlets). I am genuinely scratching my head as to how people can let these nominees get through (I'm not even going to start with Trump himself). Is it because the information I'm getting is "too left"? or is it because "I'm not in America so I don't physically feel the pain?". Hopefully if you're someone who had the patience to read through all this, you are one of those who can take the time to legitimately answer my question (I've purposely made this long without spacing so most people won't bother reading). ps. I do not live in America, but I have a deep desire to understand politics and people. I like Warren, but I actually hope she just decides to remain a senator and not run in 2020. This sounds harsh, but let me try to explain myself. She is a champion of the Democratic party, but I do not believe she would be able to swing enough votes from the Republican party. It seems that she has established herself on social issues, and less so on economics. Many Republicans care about jobs and the economy as the most important issue by a large margin, and social issues fall pretty far down the list. As well, I can see her personality and the way she speaks being heavily criticized, as juvenile as that is. I know she means well, but sometimes the way she talks makes her sound somewhat self-righteous, even if that is not her intention. I don't expect positive feedback from this post, but it's my 2 cents.

You as a citizen are free to do that. When you're the one responsible for writing the laws, you are held to a much higher standard. Senators can be arrested and brought back to vote by force for instance. They can be silenced if they violate the rules. They can be impeached for various reasons. That's in addition to the criminal code they are subject to as a normal civilian.

I'm running around genuinely trying to understand how Trump supporters (or anyone supporting the nominations) think about president Trump's cabinet's picks. I've watched the entire DeVos and Tom Price hearings which was more than 4.5 hrs worth of material (as well as the 2 most recent court cases against Trump regarding the ban and the TRO which was more than 2 hrs worth of material, but that's besides the point).
So far it seems they aren't even able to answer the simplest questions (and I understand the opposition sometimes, if not often, asks polititcally extreme yes/no questions to lure the nominee into agreeing to something which will be impossible to carry out in the future, but I'm not even referring to these) e.g. Simple question for DeVos on "...equal standards of accountability..." or the one for Tom Price "...shouldn't harm people by doing things that would increase an anxiety about healthcare..." (I have more examples than these, but not off the top of my head right now, I am willing to pull them out upon request if someone is genuinely open for a discussion/tutorial/debate). I am so sick of hearing things through the media (be it Fox/CNN/Trump's twitter/political satire outlets).
I am genuinely scratching my head as to how people can let these nominees get through (I'm not even going to start with Trump himself). Is it because the information I'm getting is "too left"? or is it because "I'm not in America so I don't physically feel the pain?". Hopefully if you're someone who had the patience to read through all this, you are one of those who can take the time to legitimately answer my question (I've purposely made this long without spacing so most people won't bother reading). ps. I do not live in America, but I have a deep desire to understand politics and people.
My next question is why people continue to support the president regardless of his recent actions, but I'm not even sure I wanna open that can of worms. I like Warren, but I actually hope she just decides to remain a senator and not run in 2020. This sounds harsh, but let me try to explain myself. She is a champion of the Democratic party, but I do not believe she would be able to swing enough votes from the Republican party. It seems that she has established herself on social issues, and less so on economics. Many Republicans care about jobs and the economy as the most important issue by a large margin, and social issues fall pretty far down the list. As well, I can see her personality and the way she speaks being heavily criticized, as juvenile as that is. I know she means well, but sometimes the way she talks makes her sound somewhat self-righteous, even if that is not her intention. I don't expect positive feedback from this post, but it's my 2 cents.

You as a citizen are free to do that. When you're the one responsible for writing the laws, you are held to a much higher standard. Senators can be arrested and brought back to vote by force for instance. They can be silenced if they violate the rules. They can be impeached for various reasons. That's in addition to the criminal code they are subject to as a normal civilian.

I think she was very mature - to her the most important thing was not how the senate treated HER, it was the fact that they denied evidence that called into question Sessions' character. She did the EXACT opposite of what so many liberals are doing now, where they get hung up on every. single. little. detail. and lose perspective of what the big problem actually is.
She knew that if she played up the sexism angle that people would get bogged down in an issue that to her was not the real issue. And she is completely correct, and it's encouraging to see that there are still people in positions of influence who have a mature, objective perspective. Was it sexist? Could be. It's also possible that "four men" were allowed to read the letter because Republicans were aware of the social outcry that was occurring. But again, drawing attention to the sexism issue would mean detracting attention from the issue of Jess Sessions' nomination. Well done Ms. Warren.
