Thank you for this. I've consistently scored 750+ in math across all four practice tests, but I faced challenges in English. This video addresses most of those issues.
You’re welcome! I go into even more detail about the grammar rules with the other videos in this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLlvPF6rDVN_sI7_GMkQzL6I4W8is0pCte.html
yo this video saved me today thanks so much keep on with the great concise advice and tips. Every other youtuber js yaps and says the same stuff but your tips really helped me❤
For rule 9, Erica Meyers says that if there is a name in a sentence, whether or not the appositive is surrounded by commas is determined by whether removing the clause effects the context of the sentence. Your explanation is easier to understand, but could you clarify your point?
She is more right, but I find that explanation a little too confusing and subjective. I don’t like any SAT explanation that depends on what WE think about the meaning. I simplified it to make it a bit easier in most cases, but you never know how the SAT will make it a little harder in a way that it doesn’t quite follow my version of the rule. I go into it more in this video: th-cam.com/video/CIzuQh8GpQY/w-d-xo.html
I know you can eliminate both options if a semicolon and a period are both on a multiple choice question, but can you eliminate both if there is a semicolon and "..., and" (or other conjunction) as options?
Usually, but you should always double check the sentence to be sure. Remember that a comma+conjunction can also be used when we’re listing a bunch of things, which would not be the same situation as a semicolon, then. As long as you’re aware of the overlap, you will be thinking about the right concepts as you read the paragraph.
Hello, do you think hard questions from the sat question bank easier compared to the real test? I find khan academy advanced module questions pretty hard.
They are basically the same, so if they make you choose between them, then they are either both wrong or there is something else going on in the choices that will force you to choose. Maybe there’s an apostrophe or a comma or an additional word that changes the sentence structure of one of the options.
No, but you can use a colon for a single dash as in rule #3. The colon ends a sentence, acting a lot like a period. The double dash interrupts a sentence.
Hi Mike! Dumb Summaries are good but sometimes in purpose questions (Module 2) it gets really hard, so matter how hard I try to interpret the text. I really liked your dumb summaries series can't you come up with a new advance strategy for specific of english and math questions e.g. hard quadratic questions, Command On Evidence etc. Please, no matter how hard I am trying to work on my weakness but my score is even decreasing (Max= 1250). In conclusion, mike please help with hard module 2 questions for both English and math.
The hard module is definitely hard. And since you don’t have more time, the pacing is much more difficult. In Math, the two main things are being quick because you’ve memorized all the right formulas and vocabulary, and using the Desmos calculator to solve algebra for you whenever possible. If you’re getting anything wrong because you don’t remember a topic, then you need to memorize before you think about strategies. Still, Plug Points Into Equations helps a lot, even with hard topics. For Reading, the next place to focus after Dumb Summaries is Strong Words and Trap Answers. Did you watch those videos too? Most passage question mistakes come from not understanding the answer choices. You probably understand the passage enough to know which choices could be right, but then you’re falling for the traps that the SAT sets.

I will take the SAT test in 3 hours, and I’m not even a Native American , so I’m not really fluent in English
I hope the test went well! You can still do pretty well not knowing lots of the words or not understanding all of the passages.
Sameeee
not sure if you’ll see this but I’m retaking my sat and I struggled most with. Standard English, would this video help with this ?
Yes, and so would all of these:

So helpful 🤩
Glad you think so!
What if the sat has both a colon and dash as an answer? Does that mean both are wrong as well because they mean the same thing?
Not necessarily. The single dash is the same as the colon, but the double dash is its own thing:

Hello, do you think hard questions from the sat question bank easier compared to the real test?
I find khan academy advanced module questions pretty hard.
I think I answered this for you on Instagram, but let me know if not!
Great video, you are the best !
Wow, thanks!
2:56 what if in the option choices there is a dash and a colon, how do i know which one to pick?
when you see a dash and colon in the options cross them out because it means the same per what i have read so the answer cant be neither of them
They are basically the same, so if they make you choose between them, then they are either both wrong or there is something else going on in the choices that will force you to choose. Maybe there’s an apostrophe or a comma or an additional word that changes the sentence structure of one of the options.
This is basically correct, but there might be a case where we need the dash because there’s supposed to be a double dash in the sentence.
Thanks
I hope it helped. Let me know if any of these rules showed up on your real test!
Excellent video
Thank you!
Fantastic video omg
Glad you think so!
Thanks😊
No problem 😊
for #5 could you also use a colon?
No, but you can use a colon for a single dash as in rule #3. The colon ends a sentence, acting a lot like a period. The double dash interrupts a sentence.
thank you
