    Thanks so much for these three fantastic videos on the A to Z of hanging wallpaper, well described and also really helpful watching you demonstrate how to do it. I was able to successfully wallpaper my bedroom (my first ever time) because of the clear and accurate instructions in your videos. Many thanks!

    I really liked the video, congratulations, I apply wallpaper here in Brazil, we use some different techniques, but the end result is the same. Since it's good to learn new installation methods, I'm sure I'll save some time with some tips I've learned from you.

      @@bandq I am wallpapering a little motorhome with a sloping back wall which makes wallpapering the left and right -hand corners tricky for me. The lower measurement is 48.5 cm starting above the seating frame and widens to 49.5 over a span of 5cm, tapering to 8.5 cm at the top and edged by very large windows with curved corners ( I removed the aluminium frames). It is wall paste wallpaper and I found I couldn't cut to shape and ripped of the first sheet I tried to hang. In the end I made a template because the cabinets across the back were lower than the side cabinets that have curved capping. Luckily the top of the window frame almost reaches the bottom of the cabinets so I just need straight edged strips with very narrow dowel trim to finish. I will be finished tomorrow and so far looking good. It's been forty years since I wallpapered a room and your video would have been very helpful way back then.

    when doing electrical sockets you take the faces completely of. never leave them on. however the rest of this introduction to wallpapering seems to be legit and will help lots of people

    • @salsachris5678
      @salsachris5678 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      why

    • @teamofsteve
      @teamofsteve 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The part about the sockets is 100% correct. Why would you remove the sockets completely just to slide a little piece of paper beneath? Too much gym training I think.

    • @ParaBellum2024
      @ParaBellum2024 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The way it's shown in this video, you risk dropping a load of plaster specks behind the paper, which might make annoying bumps in the finish when they stick to the adhesive. Also, given how dangerous mains electricity is, I'm surprised to see B&Q advising people to do this without first isolating the lighting circuit. It takes no longer to isolate the circuit, remove the switch, vacuum out, fit the paper, cut a square hole and refit the switch, than it does to use the method shown in this video. On a related note, the sockets and switches at my daughter's house all have "X"'s cut into them, where some fool must have used a Stanley knife when papering!

  • @poppykate3036
    @poppykate3036 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would you not cut it before pasting it?

    • @salsachris5678
      @salsachris5678 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the paste softens the paper and holds it flat instead of it having a life of its own in the rolled up position , we used to roll the piece up the opposite way and slightly press it down to flatten the rolled piece .

  • @shirley-annmills5349

    Can someone please tell me how you wallpaper above a toilet? My ladders dont fit as the window wall is 6 inches away from the left side of my toilet and the sink is 6.5 inches on the right side of my toilet (facing towards it). Also, you cant stand on the toilet cistern as its plastic and more than 20yrs old. I cant find anything on the internet that shows / tells you how to safely carry out this task. Thanks

    • @salsachris5678
      @salsachris5678 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      sorry there is no good answer to this other than scaffolding out a platform (not practical ) or use one section of ladder or a big pair of steps closed up and lean against the wall over the sink and work to the side , you will have to get someone to foot the ladder , and tape some protection to the top of the ladder as not to damage the wall / paper

      Order the spiciest curry from the local takeaway, you’ll have the wall covered in no time.

    this is horrible application of wallpaper.. look at the space at the joint at 07:22, then the patterns no longer match at 03:20 etc.

    • @jayrst
      @jayrst 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      3:20 was shocking there was like a whole inch of pattern missing! and yea the gap at 7:22 could definitely have been smaller haha!

      not keen on using a 2 ich offcut it wont hold a straight line over 8 ft

    • @princesspieofpiedonia2011
      @princesspieofpiedonia2011 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just watched the internal corner overlap bit three times to make sure I wasn’t imagining it! Total disregard for the pattern! And I always notice thin strips like that - they inevitably start to peel up and something about the close proximity of the seams draws the eye more than over a full width.
