Cetrion didn’t deserve what happened to her. Her mother just manipulated her for something that didn’t matter.
I agree she clearly had some doubts as Liu Kang/Raiden say during her last fight, and her ending too suggests that she doesn't fully believe in her mothers vision. However her strongest desire was living up to her mothers expectations!

One thing I really like about Cetrion is that even though she's on the opposing side to Jacqueline and Jax she immediatly wants to resolve things peacefully and even seemed genuinely concerned for their safety once they put the crown on which was a nice breath of fresh air from the usual sadists and warmongers.
Although cetrion ended up fighting the good guys she did help them earlier by telling them what to do. I feel like they changed her purpose in the story like halfway through
Yeah she's supposed to be the Goddess of Light & Virtue where as Shinnok is the God of Death. If Raiden hadn't killed Shinnok then Cetrion would have been the one to stop him as part of Kronika's plan (i think).
The13thElysium Yes. That is correct. Cetrion and Shinnok were meant to be the final combatants to fight. One is darkness and the other is light.

Although not confirmed, it's likely that Cetrion was originally designed to be an ally for the heroes, before being retconned into a double agent for Kronika.
Hence why her betrayal lacks foreshadowing, and why some of her fight intros have her on friendly terms with the heroes (such as encouraging Jade to "Follow (her) heart", advising Sonya not to be self-sacrificial, and telling Sub-Zero that she witnessed his and Raiden's trip to the 'Injustice' universe).
I feel Cetrion was a genuine good guy...like for Pete’s sake: she is the goddess of life and nature!!! “Virtue”
Add on: When Kronika was like “you help me or else” you can see Cetrions face...it’s just sad how Kronika is with her daughter...🤦🏻♂️

I hope we see Cetrion again. I’m not very good at MK but she was one of the reasons I picked up the series for the first time, and even though I’m terrible at the game, she (and Noob Saibot, my other main) make it all worth it! I’d love to see her make a comeback!

Cetrion was likely to be the one who give her life force to Liu Kang.
I don't think Liu Kang + Raiden could defeat a Titan who is beyond elder gods furthermore, she has a powerful ass crown with the life force of an elder god that has wipe out all other elder gods too?
This is seemingly impossible to me. So I think Corrupted Cetrion was meant to give Liu Kang her life force.

I always wondered why she didn’t just lie to Raiden in the first place. It was probably her last wisdom of virtue to balance to universe before her heart betrayed her.
I think because the other Elder Gods were there and knew of her origin. When she speaks to Raiden giving him advice, her voice is speaking in harmony with what sounds like two other voices

Cetrion is a good, positive and wise Elder God. But in this timeline of MK11 Era, her mother Kronika simply designed the timeline in a way where her kids will serve to her, so Cetrion and Shinnok were predicted and created in a way to be loyal to their mother no matter what.
The opening scene of MK11 movie explains it on the best way. The problem of this timeline starts in a point when Rayden (Demi God) defeat Shinnok (Elder God) in the Earthrealm which in fact simply shouldn't be possible because the Elder Gods have a way more power, durability, invurnability and of course, they live forever. But however, It means that mortal Humans have free will and that during the current timeline various kind of events simply can happened such as in this case a defeat of Shinnok.
In Cetrion's case, when she started with some actions on Earthrealm followed by her natural free will of goodness and light - that wasn't in Kronika's design of this Era, so her mother start manipulating with her heart and emotions.
So, Kronika's ultimate plan with this timeline (Era) was to provide to her son Shinnok to become the ruler of all realms including the Earthrealm, to spread the darkness and gets all worlds under his control, but Rayden and Human mortal fighers are fighting for it's own future (destiny) and they somehow defeat the Elder God Shinnok using some kind of God's weapon called "Amulet". So, this event shouldn't happened in Kronika's design of this timeline where Shinnok are predicted to be the conquer of all worlds, so Kronika simply HAD to manipulate with her daughter Cetrion if she wanted to continue with her plans with this timeline.
And in the end, as I said, Cetrion is a positive and good character, she's one of the Elder Gods, she's too powerful like the others and they all are living forever, BUT, the Human free will is a reminder to conclusion that we have our own control and that we can shape our own destiny. Kronika wanted to wipe out Rayden from existence in the new Era, but Humans have free will and they fight for their own destiny. Now in the new Era, Rayden will not dissaper, and Cetrion as the Elder God will be free in a way where her mother Kronika will be no longer to manipulate with her heart and feelings.
And leading by this logic, guess that Cetrion and Rayden will be on the same side as allies against resurrected Elder God Shinnok in a human form.
This is the most helpful ive seen the elder gods.
Kronika did say Cetrion would come back in the new era so hopefully we see her again. I think a crystal design would be so cool, like her heels
I really wished they bring her back . She was a breath of fresh air . Even when fighting the good guys forcefully by her mother she was alwys concerned about her opponents … in her mind she must have though after all this, her mum will restore them all

elder gods cannot die, this is obvious since shinnok's head still has conscience. and in an intro dialogue cetrion said when kronika was defeated, she was freed.

@@CLRaider I think she is more complex than a mere villain she is trying to serve her mother but Kronika's will contradicts her need for virtue as a Goddess. That final scene is a perfect example of her inner conflict. :D

I like how it's obvious NRS tried to make the females less sexualized and more "realistically proportioned" from MK9 through MK11 but still only succeeded in changing them from unrealistically hot to realistically hot.
Although I wonder that since she is an elder God that she is an asexual deity.

Considering everyone's "elemental" powers that made them seem godly. Kronika is the only one who actually deserves a godlike title, Time is far different than physical stuff... But it dampened her by requiring her crown & others to get it for her. I genuinely have yet to see a TRUE godlike character in MK other than dragon king who has no access to special trinkets but with his own power & knowledge made himself unbeatable without scandalous means.

I officially hate Kronika (Cronika?). I mean, Cetrion’s my favorite how dare she “kill” my favorite. Also how can you fight as Cetrion to defeat Kronika if she “dies”? Is there is a different ending is Cetrion defeats Liu Kang?
It is sad but it was Cetrion's choice to die for her mother.
Her arcade ending details a different outcome but it's non-canon.
Only losing to Kronika yields a different result. You’ll be promoted to restart if you lose to her.
Cetrion is of virtue and does give Earthrealm the knowledge of how to overcome the time merge. But when she is forced to betray her elder god kin; she does so as she follows her virtues of servitude.
She remains true to herself despite how painful it is to her. It’s also speculative that she returns in the time merger’s end as Liu Kang assumes lord of time with Kitana.
She didn’t want to do this but her Mother’s Will was something her virtues honored.

I don't think so really. As an Elder God she is probably stronger than most of the cast! Jaccqui/jax only beat her because of Shang Tsung's souls powering them and even the it was only enough to knock her back for a bit.
I think her corrupted form is just her being enraged or something haha.

@@Chickenworm9394 she was not defeated by a weak mortal the two times she fought mortals one was ampt by the crown and the next by the power she have gathered in mk 9 while the third was not a mortal anymore but a chosen one turn into the fire god.
So none of them were just mortal and mortal doesn't mean weak it just mean you can't live forever and can't be killed easily so really a mortal can kill a god if powerful enough.

The elder Gods were the very reason war was an endless problem. Lui kang is getting rid of that in his new era, eliminating war and ensuring peace for everyone. But I have a very bad feeling lui kang will become restless because he will learn it is inevitable.

If Liu Kang allowed Shang Tsung to exist, it stands to reason that Cetrion exists in some shape or form. Shang Tsung was from Earthrealm in the previous timeline, and Shang Tsung commited greater sins than Cetrion

Honestly for someone calling herself goddess of good she isn’t any different or better than her brother shinnok it no wonder why many characters calling out for her hypocrisy and pretense of being on side of good
She does want good but most people have to understand that Kronika is her own mother which is why she falls into hypocrisy. Surely most people would feel some sort of inner conflict if they turn against their own parents which is what Cetrion is feeling. She knows what Kronika is doing isn’t completely right but she also doesn’t want to make an enemy of her family.
