i dont think its meant to be a adaptation honestly, its like if you looked at the other movie or read the comics, its to flesh out other characters that needed more, everything
Honestly we would’ve never got a one to one adaptation since Bryan Lee O’Malley doesn’t want to remake it so having a show that reflects his current life is a cool touch. I really loved this show as a fan of the comics, movie and game, while I was initially disappointed at first I really warmed up to it as a great sequel of sorts
@@hepty3179 Yeah, I don’t think this show is meant to stand on its own. It basically relies on its previous incarnations as it’s a new take on the series.
@@hepty3179actually, it recontextualizes every single thing that happens so any character arcs that were at all influenced by Scott's presence are retconned, yet the show wants to keep these bits while ignoring the problem having a time travel can create for a narrative that was already solid for about a decade
Like damn, they really wanted us to feel like Ramona had the same puppy dog love for Scott because if not, she would've left like all the other exes, since she didn't actually learn anything from her experiences 😬😬
And writing, don't forget about writing. Maybe you don't think that applies here, But don't you *ever* forget about writing. Because THAT is *truly* what is going to make an animated show be loved.
I’m sorry but I just wanted a straight adaptation to the comic and what we got instead is really disappointing and I think I would prefer a proper adaptation compared to what this show tried doing.
Try judging it for what it is & not what it’s not. I get that the marketing was pretty bait & switchy. But in the end this was not meant to be an adaptation.
@@kaylemathewcomendador6964 I did judge for what it is and what it is is a messy cobbled together plot with barely any development for the characters where the plot is a boring whodunit which gets thrown out for some time travel bullshit that comes out of nowhere. So yeah I would say a show like that is pretty bad
@@Michael42300 Eh.....I dunno, the plot seemed pretty interesting and we got more in depth development for the characters and the exes then what we saw before. I disagree the plot was honestly pretty fun and I don`t see how the time travel stuff came out of nowhere. I would still say it is pretty good tbh.
Mathew was always my favorite ex but I see what they did. Was Matthew the weakest ex? Yes, he was, you can already see from the coins he drops, did that make him a weak figure? No, his character and skills were super cool! All I see here is another destroying of an established brand for the left spectrum. Ramona is supposed to take the lead in the titular "Scott" series and Matthew, who fulfills a couple of checkboxes, suddenly beats up the two strongest characters, who strangely enough also check the wrong checkboxes? yes, of course thx for woke infect all my favorite things!
Im not gonna lie i really didnt like this show. People asked me why and apparently so many people loved it but i just didnt care for it that much and you said all the reasons why i didnt like it I thought i was going crazy nice vid btw.
Take away I get from this review if Bryan Lee O'Malley would stop trying his creation "cool" and focus on being sincere, the show would've been a better experience instead of a frustrating one.

@@kaylemathewcomendador6964And for this new take on the series, I actually enjoyed it.
Bro Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is how I was INTRODUCED to this franchise. I didn’t even know it existed before
Same

I only saw the live action film before the Netflix show, so this show was amazing.

Show is a love it or hate it and it's pretty reasonable.
How do you not have your main character in half of the episodes of the first season
By having a movie, graphic novel and game with him as a mc.And allowing focus for other characters.
It sounds crazy, but it makes the world deeper

so...what happened to Gideon's other exes? Are they in suspended animation still or were they let go after Patel won Gideon"s company?
Of course, Le scott

Honestly the show came off pretty sincere. Especially after hearing about the series creator’s divorce before the show’s production.
