Hey there! I got a new LD non-smart TV that seems to hate both my VCRs. Tried to connect them through composite, those wires were tested on my DVD just before testing them on both VCRs and the TV wouldn't get any signal from any of my VCRs even through both my VCRs and this new TV have composite connections. Because the composite connection works just fine on my DVD player and both VCRs had the same answer, I figured out this TV might not hate these VCRs. I bought an SCART-HDMI converter which solved the problem and my VCR is finally playable on this new TV. I had smart TVs before since 2017 but I never had this problem with my VCR. For those who want to criticise me for keeping them, I have 50 or more old VHS tapes that I grew up with and for NO reason I would throw them away!
Thank you! I have done this before but disconnected and forgot how to redo. Watched several videos. Yours was the best and easiest for me be understand.
I’ve watched a few videos telling me I need to buy a converter and other confusing things. Your video is Excellent !! Finally an explanation that’s simple and to the point. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this simple tutorial, you were very helpful and your instructions were easy to understand. I followed the steps of the first way you could connect the two together and it simply worked very well. Very glad now that I can revisit watching my older videos on VHS on my LG TV.
Thank you!!! I had it hooked right and tried everything with no joy. Everything except for choosing AV as the source. When you said, "AV, audio video" I was amazed at my stupidity. Thanks again for pointing out the obvious!
Thank you so much for your quick and thorough video. Turns out I had to use your second method after going to Home Depot to purchase some AV cables. 🤭. Your simple rationale for “why” this is done will help me to remember next time. Turns out the technician from Best Buy fixed the problem we were having but didn’t set up the hook up to the VCR the way it was set-up when he arrived. 🤷🏻♀️ Oh well, through TH-cam, and your specific video (I went through a few before finally coming across your video here), I was about ready to throw in the towel. When I explained my dilemma to Geek Squad over the phone, the technician department did not have anyone available to help me so the “scheduler” actually wanted me to schedule a technician to come out to my home. Their next available appointment was over a week away. Your 4 minute video helped solve my problem simple and quick. And probably saved me some additional “no warranty” charges that were most likely heading my direction for technicians to come out to my home. So, your video not only saved me time and money, your video also saved Geek Squad time and money that would have been wasted coming out to my home for such a simple fix!!! Excellent job and thank you….
Hey, thanks for the video! My new Fire TV does have an RCA component slot in the back of the TV, I plugged the VCR in (VCR out to TV component plugs) as you showed in the video, but nothing happens when I play a video (I made sure the conections are correct, and I am switching my TV to component selection when trying to watch a video on my VCR). I thought maybe I need an analog to digital converter? Thank for your time and consideration.
So I got a question if I wanna clear up the coax on the TV can I run coax into the VCR and run component av cables out. My grampa has old dish but they took a channel away on local TV so I wanna plug a antenna into the coax slot on the TV and use the VCR to transmit the dish
Hello from the Great White North. Nice energy on your vid! I have an old VCR/DVD like this one, and a new smart SONY TV. The DVD/VCR has RCA plugs, the TV has HDMI sockets. I bought a new cable with an HDMI connector on one end, and the RCA plugs on the other, and plugged them all in. I even remembered to turn both devices on! It looks like it’s trying to make a connection, but “DVD HDMI 4” shows up briefly in the lower-middle of the TV screen, with another message: “No signal. Check the external input or select another input using the INPUT button”. (Needless to say it doesn’t even hint as to where the INPUT button might be...). The HDMI socket on the TV itself is identified as “HDMI 1”, but when I look at the connections displayed on the TV it says the DVD/VCR is “HDMI 4”. I have a feeling it’s something dead-simple and I’m just missing it, although the possibility also exists that the DVD/VCR itself is toast. Any hints as to what I might try next? Thanks! Cheers, J.
So for some reason my vcr and TV aren't responding together if that makes sense. The cords are plugged in correctly and it seems like the vcr/DVD combo is on and playing but there's no response between the two. Unsure what I'm doing wrong as I've never had this problem before.
(Just for Me) For DVD, just match the colors on the TV and back of the box. For VCR, keep the cables as they were in the box, but use the "AV" sockets.
How about doing a HDMI Conection from VCR TO TV AND RCA WIIRES TO THE BACK OF THE STEREO FROM THE VCR. Tried that hookup and heard a loud strange noise, possibly because I hooked the white and red wires to the input instead of output on the stereo.
Unfortunately the tri-colored cable thing did not work for me and my coax cable from the wall is too far from from the TV to connect. But I bought the VCR DVD combo off Craigslist so that might be the problem. Also when I eject the VCR it makes a horrible grinding noise?
This was very helpful, not gonna lie! Although I have a question : Why did you did it with a flat-screen TV instead of those box-like TVs from 80s and 90s?
So I can take the cables I have from my Playstation and connect it to my vcr and that's it. I have the other three cables connected to my TV. Is that how you hook up your TV with your VCR? Thank you!
Help, me HelpfulDIY, you're my only hope! I'm trying to buy a 1989 CRT and VCR, but... I don't have a coaxial cable in my wall! Is it still possible to use one online for plugging VCR into CRT using coaxial cable from online? Thank you so much for this awesome video!
i just connected my old vcr/dvd combo to my sony bravia tv with the composite (red/yellow/white) cable. i get sound but no video. I do not have an s cable input on the tv. how come i do not get video?
I would like you to have also given instructions for the dvd player on the vcr Also I need to know what to buy to plug it in as it does not have a cord.
Hi folks. I have a problem. I bought myself a video player for Christmas. I have a problem. I can't get it to work. My television does not have red, yellow and white connections. it has a red and two blues so I assumed if I put the red in the others go in the other one's. I then still could not get it to work so I tried the second method connecting the wall antenna to back of video player then to television. The television is picking up the television channels but it is still not getting any vision or audio from the video player. Any advice please from anyone here would be appreciated. Maybe someone has encountered the same problem ? Thanks .
Thank you. No cable tv for me, just games and my vast VCR library. I'd forgotten the three wire cables so gotta go buy some bcs don't know where they vanished to! lol
I am currently attempting to connect my old VCR to a Sharp Aquos tv and it doesn't work. I am using the AV connection from the back of the VCR to the AV jack on the back of the TV. Then I am trying to put it to channel 3-4 without success. I tried to use another input to components or even to 'VCR' and all I have is the sound without an image. Any help? Someone told me to plug it into the cable box (?????). It shouldn't be that difficult to use a VCR to a smart TV. God I miss the 90s...
I am still baffled though... I have an ancient Panasonic VCR with coaxial RF In and coaxial RF Out and two sets of AV composites. AV Out white/yellow and AV In white/yellow. At the moment, I can only playback recorded and prerecorded media in my collection of video cassettes on my flat screen via the AV Out composite of the VCR. However, I really want to record some programmes off satellite. My guess is, that I can connect it the conventional way, because my flat screen has the conventional coaxial input, however the one end of the cable coming directly from the satellite dish or the satellite box will have to change from a F-Type connection on the dish/box to a coaxial connection type that the VCR can accommodate. I am still battling with this ! Lol
The vcr will only get the wall cable if it’s to cable or satellite. If it’s to an antenna connect it to a digital converter box and connect that to the antenna input.

You’re probably gonna need an AV to HDMI adapter to make it work out.
@@marbardan I was thinking it might be needed so I have already did that. Now it works fine.
Lol this guy has to be a car salesman
😂
😂😂
Thank you just picked one up from goodwill to play some old VHS from before I was born that my pops filmed. This explained it well 👍🏼
Thank you, you have helped me, you made it plain and simple, YOU THE MAN!
Omg!!! Thank you soooo much! I am now able to watch old videos of my childhood from the 1980’s!! Thank you 🙏
Thank you! I have done this before but disconnected and forgot how to redo. Watched several videos. Yours was the best and easiest for me be understand.
This helped so much, I bought a VHS to watch old home videos and I appreciate your clear instructions!
I’ve watched a few videos telling me I need to buy a converter and other confusing things. Your video is Excellent !! Finally an explanation that’s simple and to the point. Thank you so much.
Yes I needed that video too. Very easy .

Thanks! I just received a whole load of a jazz band's VHS tapes and your video helped me to simply plug my player into my 4K Samsung!
Thank you!!!
I had it hooked right and tried everything with no joy. Everything except for choosing AV as the source. When you said, "AV, audio video" I was amazed at my stupidity.
Thanks again for pointing out the obvious!
Thanks bro, my mom got to see her wedding back in the 80s :)

Thank you. Thought I remembered, but it was nice to see the refresher.
I could not get my vcr to work until I watched your video.. I thank God for you.
Thank you, can't believe how simple it was to hook up, worked immediately!
Will the coax option work with digital TV or will I need a converter box
Thank you, this video helped me connect my newly purchased VHS player. 🎉😊
The visual was perfect! Thanks!
Nice ad, Billy Mayes!
Back to the future 3 on VHS!! thx dude!!!👍👍

Thank you so much You explained so good May God bless you always
I had the antenna cords reversed. Now it's fixed. Thank you.
What an intro 😂 love it

Thanks man! Now I can watch my old shows! 🤗

I agree. YOU ARE THE MAN!!!! Thanks for your help!
I just got a dual vcr dvd player and I’m new at which cord to connect. Thanx. I haven’t used VHS since I was a kid in the early 2000s.
My tv has a green and a whit socket only. Any ideas?
Can you connect the vcr to the tv using a component cable
Are component cables only used for the DVD? To get the highest quality video?
Super helpful. Tried several other sites. This was superior.
This was very helpful, not gonna lie! Although I have a question : Why did you did it with a flat-screen TV instead of those box-like TVs from 80s and 90s?

I did this. I cannot find the connection on my tv. Looked under live tv channel 3, other connections. How do you find it?
Thank I’d forgotten how to do that, very helpful.
Thanks Man!! 📺🖥📹📼
Can you connect a component cable to a dvd/vcr player
i just connected my old vcr/dvd combo to my sony bravia tv with the composite (red/yellow/white) cable. i get sound but no video. I do not have an s cable input on the tv. how come i do not get video?
I wish I could know more about this, such as how to setup tracking, and composite vs component and all that stuff!
How I find the channel? I open my tv but I can't find the channel to see
Very very very clear thank you so much
Does it have to be hooked up to an antenna?
To watch a VCR
I would like you to have also given instructions for the dvd player on the vcr Also I need to know what to buy to plug it in as it does not have a cord.
Thank you for your instructions!

what is the make and model of this VCR?
I only have two plug ins on the back of my vcr white and yellow. Can’t get the picture.
Mine too!! Maybe it’s a specific kind?
My VCR has connection in the front and the white and yellow in the back. I don't know red. I've tried contacting in the video but doesn't want to work
Thank you so much 💞🙌🏼
Sir how to connect redmi smart TV and what type of cable i use
What do I do if my VCR doesn’t have a red one?

ROCKS THIS VIDEO DAMN MY TV IS OLD
I only have yellow and white
Thank you so much i had a cameraand vcr on my tv and it tore up now i had to watch video to set up new one
The vcr will only get the wall cable if it’s to cable or satellite. If it’s to an antenna connect it to a digital converter box and connect that to the antenna input.
What if the vcr only has two white and yellow cables
Good demo..but I almost didn't watch because of the intro. Kind of annoying.... but you are a good teacher.
Great tutorial from Nardwuar
He was great!
Thank you
I didn't know that Charlie Day knew electronics.
God bless you 🙏
thank you but OMG your voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard
Thanks
