There are 4 vocalists who are JK (the youngest and also known as the golden maknae), Jimin ( my ult bias and has a background in contemporary dancing), Jin (the oldest member and worldwide handsome) and V (number one most handsome man in the world).
Also they have 3 rappers JHope ( known as the sunshine ocfthe group), Suga ( also known as AgustD in his solo work and known for his tongue technology) and lastly RM (formally known as Rap Monster and he is the leader og the group).
This group debuted in 2013 with No More Dream.
Their fans are known as army (which I'm a proud member of have been since 2014)

Dynamite is a great pop song & a large part of its appeal is that it’s in English but I want all new people to understand BTS didn’t write it & it’s not indicative of their artistry or lyricism. I don’t know if anyone who could put their best foot forward in something other than their native language. So to truly gauge their talent, make sure you check music they made. Their own lyrics, beats & production.

A little explanation about kpop. Suga from Bts:
“I’m a little careful to talk about K-pop as a genre because I don’t want to be defining Kpop as a genre”. “I’m a little bit wary of that but I think rather than approach Kpop as a genre, a better approach would be ‘integrated content.'” He added: “‘K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach K-pop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better

it's more pop than kpop because there is no korean in dynamite.
by the way kpop stands for 'korean popular music' and it's an industry and not a genre so you will see many different genres from bts in 3 different languages: korean, japanese and english. They started in 2013 and have 7 members (3 rappers and 4 vocalists) and they are 24-29 years old but they look young 😅 They were 15-20 when they started tho.
I recommend you 'Mic drop' but you have to put on subs. They have dance practices to all their songs if you are interested in dancing and they have behind the scenes for all their music videos and it's really impressive I really recommend it. Welcome! Nice to see older people going outside their comfort zone. BTS is such a positive element in many people's lives. They are extremely humble, kind and hard working. They have a beautiful message to the world in many of their songs. Lyrics are a must on their Korean songs so use the subtitle feature on youtube. "Dynamite" is one of their songs they were using to break into the American music scene. The songs they did for the American music scene are quintessential pop songs. Only one member (RM) is fluent in English and the other members know some English but are not fluent. In their Korean songs they have some English words intertwined with their Korean lyrics.
When they debuted (2013) they started as a hip hop group but have since done many different genres and styles of music. They have a very large discography. Not to mention solos projects and colabs with many artists.
I myself have been a fan of BTS (Army) since 2016. My demographic is a 53 year old white woman from small town Canada 🇨🇦. While I do listen to other kpop artists. BTS is the one I use for positivity, they are my Ult group and I do not see that changing. They have done so much for me and I am eternally grateful to them.
P.S. Army is pretty darned amazing too as long as you are respectful to BTS. There are a few toxics ones but the overwhelming majority are extremely beautiful human beings. So I say "Borahea" 💜 to you both. (This means "I purple you" in Korean. Purple is the Fandom colour which means I will trust and love you for a long time) you will see this a lot from Army.

Hopefully answering some of your questions-
    - BTS is a 7 member group from South Korea with 3 Rappers and 4 Vocalists who debuted in 2013. They started out as a hip-hop group and now have branched out into a wide genres of Music- Pop, R&B, Neo soul, Rock, Hip-Hop, Rap, Electronica, Latin Pop, ballads and a bunch of mixed genre songs.
    - All the members participate and are heavily involved with Songwriting, Composing and Producing of their songs. Three of the rappers have also released 2 solo albums each, the most recent being 'Jack in the Box' by J-hope.
    - All the members are in their Twenties, the youngest being 24 and the oldest 29.
    - A majority of BTS songs are in Korean except the 3 or 4 english songs they have released in the past 2 years. Their discography is HUGE with about 300+ songs including solo songs, sub-unit songs and group songs.
    - They can all speak Japanese and Korean but RM (the leader) is the only one fluent in English.

Thank you for listening to them and giving them a chance. Also, I dont think most people in a club would ask you what this is. Dynamite was a chartbusting song and had a lot of radio exposure in the US. This was a nice happy song released during the pandemic to raise spirits. It was awesome and it is BTS but BTS is not just the three english songs they’ve released. The US market only responds to pop beats like these and is pretty adamant in not listening to anything not in English. The deep stuff though, which is in Korean is something you should check out if you are really open to exploring a mindblowing discography. This was released in 2020(today, in fact) so the boys ranged in age from 23 - 28. Dynamite debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed in that position for 3 weeks and stayed in the top 10 for 13 non-consecutive weeks. The music video reached 1 Billion views in approx. 8 months. So...if you play this in the club there is a good chance people will already know the song.

Jin (the oldest member, born 1992) would be very happy to know that you said they look very young😂. By the way today is Dynamite's second anniversary. It's been two years of this record breaking song. List will go on and on if I start to mention it's record but to mention very few since it's Dyna day, Dynamite is the first song in TH-cam history to surpass 100M views within 24hrs of it's release (precisely it garnered 101.2M), first song by South Korean artist to debut and even reach at #1 on BB HOT 100 and stayed there for 2nd consecutive weeks. I won't say all but many many people knows Dynamite even if they don't know BTS, so you might find someone who knows it if you play it at the club.
About Kpop, it is basically translate to Korean pop, in Kpop industry there are 100s of groups and solo artist under many different agencies and entertainment companies/labels. BTS is a 7 member group from Hybe Labels who debuted on June 13, 2013. They are amazing, talented, chaotic, passionate and very humble group of artist who have deep love for their music. Once you start listening to BTS music you will realize they touch wide genres of music. There's song for everyone in BTS wide discography. Also BTS have major influences from Hip-hop and Hip-Hop artists since they were very young. So hip hop was with BTS throughout their journey and with some members even before they debuted as BTS. They started in their teens, 13 the youngest. Now they’re in their mid-late 20s.
This was a fun song for their American fan base, catchy pop, lots of pop culture reference , but typically their songs and music videos have deeper meaning, and choreography more intense. But for English, check out ‘Butter’ music video and their live Grammy performance. You’ll see what level performers they are when you watch live performances.
Please check out their other work that’s truer to themselves.
‘ON: Kinetic Manifesto’ came out but pandemic ruined that big release. That was one of the best choreography routines. That was also filmed in Los Angeles area. They performed that live for Jimmy Fallon at Grand Central Station.
‘Black Swan’ is a masterpiece type music video and song.
‘Home’ very R&B vibes no music video but performed for Jimmy Fallon.

Also, they have solo projects as well. J-Hope is one of the rappers, he’s the main dancer, and just came out with solo work and headlined Lollapalooza. Check that out as well.
Kpop really is like a mixed genre, you’ll hear pop, R&B, rap, rock. Their productions on music videos are always top notch. Even Korean songs will be a little bilingual with some English. Their fan base is global making them the biggest world act right now. But you’re getting into them as they’ve already matured and taking some time to slow down a bit. But even in their “hiatus” or slow down period they are drawing such numbers to the release they just did. And solo projects lined up. JHope was the first solo and made history at Lollapalooza

BTS is 7-membered group from South Korea with members aging from 24 to 29 years old. They have been around for almost 9 years now and they usually sing in Korean/Konglish and only have 3 songs fully in English in their whole discography of 200+ songs. Dynamite is their first one actually, and it happens to be a song they just released as comfort for ARMYs (fans) during the rise of the pandemic (since this was released mid 2020).
They are one, if not, the most versatile artists I’ve ever heard (in my opinion). From hiphop to rnb to pop, name any genre, most likely, they have it. They produce and write their own songs, incorporate a storyline in their discography as well as different themes such as philosophy, psychology, politics, women empowerment, anti-bullying, mental health, and many more. This is why they had such an impact to the world and brought them to the UN 3 times and gave speeches as well. I can’t reiterate any more coz this might be an essay hehe. They mean a lot to me, coz they changed my life (mental health-wise)- This is why they are famous, they touched so many lives, their music relates to our heart and soul. 💜

    - Rice Squad’s “The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS” (2022 update) 👉 th-cam.com/video/0KonKFssKnM/w-d-xo.html (lengthy as well but talks about the background of the group like how they were formed)
+ Imma just flex my boys right now and say some of their recent achievements that makes me so proud.
    - They are Grammy nominees for 2 times in a row (2021 and 2022) 🏆
    - They topped billboard hot 100 with 3 songs last 2020 and 2 songs in 2021 (all debuted at the top) 🔥
    - Their latest #1 on the billboard hot 100 were the songs “Butter” & “Permission to Dance”. Butter topped the charts for 10 weeks and stayed on the top 10 for 15 weeks 🧈
    - They have 5 #1 albums (Billboard) for 3 consecutive years. 💪
    - They are UNICEF Goodwill ambassadors and gave a speech in the United Nations General Assembly THRICE now and currently renewed their UNICEF project 🇺🇳
    - They are Korea’s pride to the point their president appointed them as Special Presidential Envoys for Future Generations and Culture and are considered as diplomats as well (they even have the exclusive diplomatic passports) 🇰🇷

I think if you tell people it's BTS, a lot of them are gonna know. They're...quite big 😄😄 But also, if you're looking for new hype songs to play in the club, BTS might be a good source for you. They do a lot of EDM style songs. They came from hip hop, so the beat is really important in their songs and it's never generic or boring. They obviously have slow songs too, but some songs like Fire or Mic Drop would probably do well in a club. That being said, they have a lot of music and they've explored a variety of genres in their career so far, both as a group and as solo artists. I like that you went into this with and open mind, so I believe you'll find a lot in their music that will appeal to you moving forward. I hope to be there for the journey 💜
You touched on some of the quite popular misconceptions about them and I'm sure people in the comment have already corrected all of it (their ages, the demographic of their fanbase, the likening to Backstreet Boys or 'N Sync...). So I'll just say that I'm a 30-year-old woman from Czechia. I haven't spoken a word of Korean in my life and have barely been aware of South Korea (mostly political stuff) before I was exposed to BTS through a friend. I was never particularly into boybands and I had pretty much all the misconceptions about them that you mentioned, along with some other that were connected to "the dark side of k-pop" (basically that they're manufactured puppets who don't write their music and are slaves of their company). Turns out I was completely wrong about pretty much everything I thought I knew. Apart from genuine artists with deep passion and knowledge of music and good people who show a lot of gratitude and love to their fans, as someone who's always been passionate about literature and language, I found musicians who's lyrics carry a lot of weigth and meaning and that was possibly the biggest reason why I became a fan.
I'm subscribing and I hope to see some more BTS on your channel in the future. Thank you for reacting to them 💜

I always find it funny that most people jump into BTS with Dynamite 😂 it was literally their first entirely English song compared to their other works and they didn't even write it, it just always makes me giggle when people go "oh it's English?" because they might expect other songs to be English too but it's not 😂 great reaction. Can't wait to see you check out their other music.
I think it would be cool for you to see the contrast between Dynamite and their first song so many check out No More Dream next, there they are all much younger and I think the oldest member was like 22 and the youngest 15.

There are several remixes of this song, including an EDM version. And they have well over 300 songs in their discography with so many different blends of genres and fashion and styles. Most of their songs are in a Korean primary with english bits here and there and even some in Japanese. One of the members did a remake of Chicken Noodle Soup with Becky G and it has Korean, English, and Spanish. Hope you check out more! Thanks!

First thing to know about kpop: "Kpop isnt a genre, is an industry, which means Korean Popular music"
Inside the kpop industry you have artist and groups with different concepts and genres like: Hip hop, rock, metal, ballads, funk, EDM, etc.. and some of them do a mix of genres. Some groups like BTS do a lot of genres througout their albums, and special singles, not just funk or poppy stuff. They debuted as an hip hop group, then they decided to grow in the music industry being versatile and doing other genres like ballads, edm, disco, funk, etc.

K-pop is an industry, not really a genre :-) BTS are definitely out of the norm in the K-pop world and if you'll keep listening to them, you will know why. Listen to me and watch BTS Live room Festa 2021: a fast-paced medley of some of their oldest to newest main tracks and b-sides (mind you, they debuted in 2013) and turn on the captions ;-). English is not that prevalent, BTS themselves have released 3 songs so far completely in English, but it's pretty common to sprinkle some English there in there in the songs. Btw, the youngest one is 25 and the oldest 30 :-D

I agree with everything everyone else is saying and Tae is defo coming to wreck every armys bias and bias wreckers lists especially with that smile at the end, also my Jiminie i still cant get over him and that ‘finger bang’ he does he owns it, also the way he looks into the camera and stares into your soul and heart. Also ther dancing and vocals (especially the raplines as i wasnt expecting them to not rap at all) and attitude they give off is just perfect. Also for being their very first song fully in english just goes to show that they have improved alot (from what i have heard and read Korean is easier to learn than english).
Also the fact that every Army right now is being biased wrecked by every member including their bias just goes to show how perfect and amazing these guys are and that they do such an amazing job with what they do as well

BTS isn't representative of all K-Pop, but they did pave the way for other K-Pop groups. Let's see, in 2020, Jungkook the youngest was 22 years old, and Jin the oldest was 27. So they are not teenagers anymore, although, in 2013, Jungkook was 15 when they debuted, and Jin was 20. They debuted as a Hip Hop Idol group in South Korea. Their music has evolved and changed over the years, but their roots are Hip Hop. I will link you a video that is a medley of 7 songs that they released for their fanbase (BTS ARMY - 90 million plus globally), and South Korea doesn't have that many people. They have about 51 million Korean citizens. BTS are actually very popular in America, but they don't get a lot of radio play, except for their English Pop Songs, which got radio play, but not like other American artists even though their songs were very popular. They only have 3 English songs, but they have all been very successful, and 2 of those songs (Dynamite and Butter) got BTS 2 Grammy nominations.
*I will leave the video link in the reply comment below.*

Welcome to the rabbit hole. BTS is not your normal KPOP group for many reasons. I am 61 and have been listening to KPOP since 2010. The industry in Korea is very different than in the States or Western countries. There, young people sometimes as young as 10 audition for entertainment companies to become trainees. Sometimes these trainees are with a company for several years before being put into a group and are able to debut as a group. Trainees are not paid, practice 12-20hours a day, goes to school and sometimes work part-time jobs. The practice doesn't stop once they debut. BTS debuted in 2013. The members ages at debut were 15 up to 20(current ages 25-30. BTS is different from most groups because they have had more control of their content than most groups. They write, compose and produce a good portion of their music. If you really want a rabbit hole, get into the BTS universe. This is an Era of albums that followed a story line that will make scratch your head, haunt you for days, and show you the extreme talent of these 7 young men. Welcome to ARMY

They do a lot of homage to the icons and they do a lot and have a lot of reference to Michael Jackson. And yes, they sing in English and in Japanese too. Their songs are a beautiful mix of genres. It's almost impossible for you not to identify with some genre... their songs mix a lot with English, but their native language prevails a lot (even because they are native language). Many people when they meet them fall in love or identify with some music and even with the members. If you go down the rabbit hole it will be almost impossible to get out. I purple you 💜.
