I could sit and watch that big John Deere towin' the chisel plow all day long. Good selection of music to go along with the video. It's got a good 'in the heartland' vibe to it which matches your video very well.
YES! ABSOLUTELY!!! Thank GOODNESS that he uses good music... I often have to mute most farming videos because I can't stand their loud grinding rock or crappy country music blaring over the entire video.... I REALLY hate when people do that, especially when you can't hear the machinery running... I mean, some music is nice, but it needs to be TURNED DOWN so that you can hear the machinery (which isn't much of an issue with drone footage since the machinery can barely be heard, if at all, anyway) and should be pleasant and fit what's going on, sorta "in the background"... NOT just the loudest, most obnoxious crap that the video maker is a fan of... Later and KUTGW! OL J R :)
Just found your guy's channel. I love the footage and it make me miss farming. I'm currently deployed, but I will definitely do some farming when I get back.
That 8235R comes green star ready. There are thousands of old GPS receivers and BrownBox monitors for free sitting on farm workshop benches collecting dust for you to get one. Big savings on time, fuel, and your body.
You should feel very fortunate that God has given you a part of his creation. You are very lucky. Never take it for granite. God Bless, and thank you for the video.
what RPM do you go at when pulling that chisel? With the 4640 you'd go full rpm but what about when using that huge tractor with the small implement? I ask cause i'm looking at a 8235 and it's way bigger than my chisel too
Hey guys, I wondered why you have those spaces in between your patches of "production field", is it for irrigation or for the wildlife or what reason? Here in Europe we dont see that in fields, thx for a lot of great videos!
Nobody watching this video has to worry about that in their lifetime realistically unless the epa or some part of our wonderful govt does something really dumb- but that would never happen-right?
We don't have a hard pan. You'd be more likely to have a hard pan about 6 inches deep in tillage than any hard pan in no-till. If you've ever studied soils you'd know that no-till actually provides better infiltration and improves the overall structure. Tillage is a short term solution for drainage. Most wet farms would be better off with a long term no-till plan and drainage tiles.
Whats the reason doing it in spring, instead of in autumn? The frost can do quite a good work on the soil, and moisture can get deeper. Because this kind of operation the soil looses moisture in spring easily.
Hintalan Ádám I would guess they just ran out of time. In Wisconsin winter can arrive while you are combining and once the ground freezes you are done. Actually there are studies that suggest frost actually doesn't do much.
Hey Ryan, when you graduate with your Agricultural Business degree from UW-P (I go to UWW for accounting and finance, but my mom's side of family used to farm in Neenah and Stockbridge), what are your plans? Are you going to stay and run the farm with your family, or are you going to go on into the business world? Just wondering. Regards, a fellow Wisconsinite.
CMLovejoy Corn and bean prices are both low anyway. This is just one field, not an accurate representation of all our land, and one of the few that we aren't contouring. It has been our experience that some soils will produce better of one crop but not the other.
+How Farms Work some soil are better for one type of crop then another. Corn and cotton pulls out of the soil whereas other are used to add to the soil but what I seen of that field, it grown about anything looks rich.
Any chance that you are going to practice no till along with cover crops one day? I know manure incorporation becomes a problem then. What else would steer you away from it with your type of soil and crops etc?
+casefan4400 Maybe they are running it at 1250 rpm and burning < 8 gals of fuel per hr. One time I did a 350 acre field of wheat no-till in CRP ground with a 8225R IVT, only 167 gal. fuel. It's a nice JD tractor
great videos but why such a big tractor on a baby chisel plow? I pulled chisel like that growing up with a 4640 two wheel drive lol. That's ~160hp at the engine(max) vs 235hp normal(260hp max) with 8 tires driving. Surely for the sake of JD not being called a wimp you have upgraded lol yes you are going pretty fast but 235hp is way more than needed even with hills
For a long time Case IH had the best ground working equipment... The IH disks were WAY better than the Deere disks back then, and there isn't as much difference in chisel plows, though the Deere bedder bottoms were better than Case IH's IMHO (I've had both). I've gotten rid of as much IH stuff as I can, but I still run an IH 470 disk... just hands down better built than a Deere disk of the same size/vintage... (or any other that I've seen of that era). When it comes to planting and harvesting equipment, Deere's got them beat hands down, IMHO, although the CaseIH coulter cart and 15 foot drill I used to run for my BIL was a pretty sweet rig and did a great job... Couldn't give me a Case IH cotton picker-- was DONE with CaseIH after they started freezing out the parts on the older machines... Deere still supports the parts for their older machines, so we got rid of the IH junk and replaced it with Deere. Later! OL J R :)
We run jd tractors on our farm but when it comes to implements we don’t stay with one brand we do run a case disk though as they were built tougher from what we know in the older models but that’s about it
If it is minded asking why is it that when u plant low or whatever a field why is it that you change directions so much of how the field is dug and or planted serious question
I love Wisconsin farms!! Not too far away from where you are!
I could sit and watch that big John Deere towin' the chisel plow all day long. Good selection of music to go along with the video. It's got a good 'in the heartland' vibe to it which matches your video very well.
I love the music you made for this song bud it's pretty cool How Farms Work
YES! ABSOLUTELY!!!

Great video love the implement mounted camera and the drone footage.
You should feel very fortunate that God has given you a part of his creation. You are very lucky. Never take it for granite. God Bless, and thank you for the video.
Nice video, that chisel plow is really doing a good job. Looks like you need one about 4 feet wider for that tractor.
Gerald Skaggs Yeah, the sad part is the 4640 usually pulls the chisel and it's wider than the 82
what RPM do you go at when pulling that chisel? With the 4640 you'd go full rpm but what about when using that huge tractor with the small implement? I ask cause i'm looking at a 8235 and it's way bigger than my chisel too
Again great job!
always good footage, wish i could come work for you, love tractor driving
That seams like such a small chisel plow behind that tractor, you guys should upgrade like you did with the planter?
Jason Procai planters have little resistance plows obviously have a lot more of a tug
Hey guys, I wondered why you have those spaces in between your patches of "production field", is it for irrigation or for the wildlife or what reason? Here in Europe we dont see that in fields, thx for a lot of great videos!
Henrik Krogsgaard It is used to slow water down for less erosion.
How many acers is that feild? Good Video!
Great video!!!!!!
Hey I live in Wisconsin too!
nice videos...I think you guys need to give that beast a challenge it looks like its plays with that case ih
It looks like you could get away with a bigger chisel plow if you wanted.
Great video!
Looks good!!
That chisel looks small to that 8235R!
scotthinch ya it dose to much hp for that chisel
warfare23455 Gets the job done no problem why get a bigger one?
scotthinch You'd think that but with that chisel bottomed out it gives that tractor a pretty good tug
Have you had any discussion in school or elsewhere of the future of ag as petroleum levels decline and how that will affect your farm?
Nobody watching this video has to worry about that in their lifetime realistically unless the epa or some part of our wonderful govt does something really dumb- but that would never happen-right?
What songs did you use for this video cause I like them How Farms Work
How deep are you chiseling? Are you doing any other soil prep before planting after?
Very beautiful
Thanks for the vids. Do you have enough ground to justify a 9R and wider tillage?
Have ya ever considered no-till? Its hard to get started in and requires more management, but it can pay off. We've been no-tilling for over 30 years
Countryguy now try and break the hard pan
We don't have a hard pan. You'd be more likely to have a hard pan about 6 inches deep in tillage than any hard pan in no-till. Nice of you to video the rest of the story Guy. Lol
Do you use auto steer?
what are the names of the music??
and nice tractor
It is a easy pull for the 8235R :P anyway you cant have a bigger chisel plough if first you dont have a bigger tractor.

dexterscott33 Staying home. More videos for you guys!
Just wondering- $4 or less corn- all the fuel and hours to chisel and disk that bean ground- looks a little hilly too- why not no-till that corn?
The bean fields would be ideal to plant corn notill.
how long did it take yall to do all that ground with that chisel disk????
MegaHosscat On the day Ryan took this footage I chiseled 120 acres that day.
Oohh OK..
The first 10 seconds just listening to the soil moving through the ripper and the diesel were great then music started...😏
Is going with all corn a good idea? What if corn prices are low when you go to harvest?
CMLovejoy Corn and bean prices are both low anyway. This is just one field, not an accurate representation of all our land, and one of the few that we aren't contouring. It has been our experience that some soils will produce better of one crop but not the other.
CMLovejoy Revenue loss insurance

you should invest in about a 25 ft chisel plow
wouldn't pull a 25 foot
At least a 13 shank but a big one would just stop that tractor
Is your auto steer broken?
Do you disk before chiseling the corn ground?
Usually since the stalks will often plug the chisel if we don’t.
Ok with a 9'' or 7 1/4'' spacing disk?
Why don't you use a regular plow?
Looks like u could pull a bit bigger chisel plow
Have you guys considered using GPS?
awd3264 why wold you use gps when you can look back and turn the wheel?
You should do a how to drive on that tractor
Jack Rossman I agree with you
Jack Rossman There easy to drive its self explanatory
Why are you using the 8235r and not the 4440
how come ur leaving it in strips
U think the tractor is a bit overkill for that drag
Looks like you could pull that with a craftsman lawn mower.
Looks like a little toy behind that 82 lol. We pull the same chisel plow with our 2wd MX200. We don't believe in front wheel assist on my farm!
looks like you need a bigger plough for that tractor haha
+casefan4400 Maybe they are running it at 1250 rpm and burning < 8 gals of fuel per hr. One time I did a 350 acre field of wheat no-till in CRP ground with a 8225R IVT, only 167 gal. fuel. It's a nice JD tractor
well I have found out one thing the people who move from Wisconsin to Tennessee it how similar the land profiles are that interesting.
why so many strips of grass
that digger hardly covers your tracks but great video thanks.
That tractor has a 184 gallon fuel tank!
great videos but why such a big tractor on a baby chisel plow? I pulled chisel like that growing up with a 4640 two wheel drive lol. +Andy Hass what do you buy first, the tractor or the chisel?
How Farms Work you go to the case dealer and stop over paying for the green junk! then u can buy the tractor and chisel at the same time hehe
Yeah and pay for more repairs later... LOL:) OL J R :)
Im surprised you guys were using a Case chisel when green is in your blood.
For a long time Case IH had the best ground working equipment... The IH disks were WAY better than the Deere disks back then, and there isn't as much difference in chisel plows, though the Deere bedder bottoms were better than Case IH's IMHO (I've had both).

Srry auto correct if not minded was at begining, plan or plow srry could not figure how to edit original post
why call it a chisel and not a cultivator
+Dakota Hoftender chisel plow is what this is, field cultivator, and cultivator are all 3 very different machines.
I come help do that
