    Overall, good video.
    Call-ups, signing strategy, and player progression in MLB is one of my favorite things. Few things I'd add (and apologies if you covered this in another video).
    *1. The 16-day rule*
    If you wait 16 days after the beginning of a season to call up a prospect, that player will not be able to accrue their sixth year of service time until the first day of their seventh season. (Big deal when it comes to high potential players and contract extensions).
    *2. 130/50 rule*
    If a Rookie has less than 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in a season, they will still be a Rookie next season. Can help with a ROY push.
    *3. A player's age*
    Sometimes it makes sense to call up a young prospect. Other times it doesn't. A real example I just had was a 39 man roster going into spring training. I was one man short of 40 after various off-season trades and had a decision to make between a 29yo 1B with a 65 overall and a 23yo high potential 2B at 67 overall. Considering it was February and taking the above two rules into consideration, I opted to call up the 29yo, to a position I had depth in, at a low overall - simply due to the fact that he was already 29.
    These are just a few of the long-game decisions you have to make.

    The Single A description helped me out, I was wondering why I couldn’t edit single a Lineups and they weren’t developing stats!! This helped a ton, I do manager mode for all of my teams!

      They do develop stats in A ball. It can be assumed they are playing just as many games as your AA and AAA players. SDS didn't implement high A ball schedules because they had to draw the line somewhere and high A ball is a good place to do it (since most MLB franchises have several A ball club affiliates - it would have gotten really confusing).
      Fun fact, all high A ball affiliate names are actually modeled into MLBTS. You can find their names in the Transactions page after sending players up or down. They just don't have any jerseys, schedules, or game stats modeled in.

    In order for a position player to be on my 25 man roster, he must have a satisfactory vision attribute. When a player's vision attribute is to low, he's going to strike out a lot. A lot of MLB The Show players don't know the difference between vision and plate discipline.
    Low vision = strikeouts
    High plate discipline = walks

      Do you simulate through your franchise games or do you actually play them? Because if you do play them, Plate Discipline only helps the user check swing. Plate Vision helps the user put bat on ball and gives that individual player a bigger reticle which helps make solid contact and foul off bad pitches. If you do simulate, then yes. Plate Discipline will help your CPU-controlled players draw more walks while their Plate Vision will allow them to get more hits.

      @@domanddev I do. I carry my franchise mode saves from year to year. I don't play all 162 games in one iteration of The Show. I'm about a little past halfway through the season in my current franchise. I'm obviously going to finish this season in MLB The Show 22 and continue from there.

    Imo I depends mostly on if I think they will develop more in the bigs or in the minors also I'd rather call up a 73ovr C potential than a 73ovr 99 potential so I dont stunt his growth

    I wish your players in Franchise mode would develop the way your RTTS player does. Performance based. For example; in RTTS you gain a small plus to Plate Vision every time you take a pitch out of the strike zone. Or you lose Plate Vision anytime you chase a pitch out of the strike zone. This should also apply to our Franchise mode players! Have the players with high potential ratings develop at 2x or 3x pace while the lower potential players get a 1x or even a 0.5x depending on their potential rating. This would be a much more realistic way to develop players. The way it is now feels too random and a bit scripted. OR another option would be to have players gain XP points which we get to allocate to whichever attributes we want to develop! Like in Madden.

      They do.
      Just because little numbers don't pop up after every hit in franchise doesn't mean they aren't progressing. A player's performance absolutely impacts certain skills. This is most easily demonstrated with pitchers. A major league starter with abysmal strikeout to innings pitched will begin to drop their K/9 skill after a bit.

      @@GTOAviator @GTOAviator No they don't. A player's development in the show is predetermined. Training assignments are a waste of time as well. I've had numerous people I know point it out as well. Why do you think SDS has never made tutorial videos on player development in franchise mode? Because it's all smoke and mirrors! The player ratings are predetermined already. It doesn't matter how a player performs, it's already predetermined that they'll progress or regress at a certain point in their careers based on their potential rating ! Also, potential is really all you need to know. A high potential player will always develop decent to high attributes before regressing after a certain period of time. And low potential players can't ever "break the cycle" per say. They'll always stay underdeveloped regardless to performance OR "training". To be honest, Madden has a better franchise mode! At least there you can actually develop players! And their development traits actually make a difference!

      @@reliablethreat23 Players being predisposed to develop certain traits isn't called scripting, that's reality. Everything you mention is part of a big, amorphous stew called player development. Performance, morale, training, injuries, age, potential, and yeah.. a pinch of RNG. There's a lot of truth to that. Certainly more believable than having some number increase because all you do is steal second.
      You're entitled to think whatever you want but fact is, my San Diego Padres Ketel Marte comes out completely different than my Arizona Diamondbacks Ketel Marte after 3 years. That's an impossible statement by your logic.

Because people like you who like the game will always find a way to squeeze out every last drop of positivity that they could out of it lol! Listen, there's no defending their system. It's stupid. If players are by default predestined to be great or suck regardless to how we manage them, then what's the point? And when you say there's truth to that, what exactly are you referring to? That some players pan out while others don't? Well in that case, then why bother even having attributes visible to the player? Why bother giving us this false notion that we can actually fine tune our players? Like I said, it's all smoke and mirrors. Franchise modes in all major sports games are dead nowadays.

    Would love to see how you go about resigning your minor leaguers in the offseason. I usually just offer everybody contracts to fill up my minor leagues.

      Yeah I'lll resign most guys then ill fill any gaps just before the season by just going to free agents and paying lower overall minor leaguers to fill spots that I might be lacking in.

      Same but my first time I didn’t know I had to sign them myself thought I could focus on the big league team so my farm system was pretty much empty with no one 😂🤣

      @@handheldnintendofan make it easier on yourself, tender contracts to all of your major leaguers then sim to the day before the tender deadline then just switch contracts to auto you won’t have to scroll through and sign everyone

    Class a. 18-19 year olds and players with overall less than 55
    AA. 20+ age above 55 overall
    AAA. 22+ age above 65
    overall
    Exceptional players move up quicker. Adjust accordingly.
    And good coaching/scouting is a must.

    Great video again! Quick question. I recently just did my first draft (did great btw). I’ve signed the players as well. Will I be able to put them in my farm system at any point this season or will I have to wait until the offseason?

    Do those teams ever sim well for you? When I call up my 70s players, my team usually sims bad. But like you said i cant leave them in the minors cuz they won't grow as well

      If you want them to sim well you have to have some top end players to mix in. My team wins poorly most of the time

      Yeah, they usually sim pretty bad, but keep up this formula for 5-6 years and your organization is set, maybe even beyond necessity, if salary cap is off and you do what you can to retain all your good draft picks. I enjoy raising a team from the ground up, so I use this methodology often.

      I know it’s 10 months later but getting players with high vision and discipline helps a bit. Also focus more on OBP and slugging percentage when building your lineup. I absolutely gutted my team and signed some older low OVR players making my team bottom 5 in every category except power (15th) and still have managed to win a little over half my games simming.

    I don't just look at the players overall rating to decide if I want to call a player up from the minors. Because what I've noticed is a lot of minor league players, as well as MLB players may have a high overall rating, but their attributes lack in certain key categories. A player may have high defensive attributes, but they have poor offensive attributes. Or they might have high offensive attributes but their defensive attributes are poor. For example, the only reason a player might have a 70 overall rating is mostly based on their defensive attributes, which isn't a legit balanced overall 70 rating in my opinion.

      That’s what I go on to address later in the video, because you’re 100% correct. I’ve got a lot of players in the Giants organization that are very unbalanced. Chadwick Tromp is a great example. He’s a great catcher, but terrible with the bat

      Different positions have their stats weighted differently as well. If it’s someone like a 2B where they value fielding stats super importantly you can get a skewed overall if his defensive stats are super high even though he might actually be like a 55 or 60 overall if you changed him to a 1B or used him as a DH.

    I have a situation where I have an SP in AAA who has a sub-2 ERA and 90 stamina, but only 35 h/9. He’s killing it in the minors but I just don’t know about calling him up. Any advice? He’s 77 with A potential and 23 yo

      make sure your training him with pitching coach sessions to upgrade his h/9 id keep him in the minor until september and if he plays good keep him up and see how he plays in spring and evaluate from thwre

    You do realize this is one’s own opinion… everyone does their own way.. I do it by age and ratings but I’m not going to call a 22 year old than a 29 year old , while a season goes , if the 29 is not performing I’ll outright the player .
