thanks very much! Now post CTR, this setup worked really well! I only have a few things i'd change if I did it again and i'll be making a debrief video about that.
Hell yeah, looks like a really well thought out lightweight kit. You've got some great pro tips, - I like the leash protip with the bivy, so clutch. I finished the Oregon Timber Trail this year and there was a ton of gear that people lost along the way, a leash would have saved them! - Extra ziplocks for carrying food along the way... so many times I wished I packed an extra. - Gaiters! You recommended these to me on AZT. Took them on the OTT and loved having them. I think I may have to try out a pair of those socks... I'll be watching your dot and rooting for you Dylan! Good luck!!
Nice setup! Have you considered maybe a rat t tourniquet in case of a gnarly crash? Maybe something like that with a quick clot sponge would be overkill for just a bike race?
I also have a 2023 Epic Evo and been debating whether to get a new epic 8 or epic 8 evo, there pros and cons to that. However, because I love my bike I decided to start purchasing pretty much same stuff you have. Have you thought about the new epic 8 or epic 8 evo?
Hey there. Interesting to look at the upgrades Specialized made for the Epic 8. I'm not in a position to upgrade right now and my 2023 still has tons of life left in it! It's just getting warmed up for bikepacking adventures haha! What have you purchased for the 2023 epic - bikepacking bags?
no. I only have the fenix BC26 light. I found on the AZTR that one handlebar mounted light was enough for me even in technical singletrack. I have the two fish mount on my helmet so 1) in case I break the handlebar light mount I have backup and 2) I transfer the light to my helmet when i'm setting up camp and/or have to do anything like fix a mechanical in the dark. And yes I know having the one light is a single point of failure. If the light fails, I'll be riding daylight hours only to the next nearest bike shop or outdoor store or place I can find something. This is a risk I've accepted.
no not a win. But I was racing and trying to move as fast as possible within my own capabilities and desired amount of sleep. Finishing in 6 day, 4 hours was worth running a lighter setup.
Good luck. You've thought it through and deserve success!

Awesome, Dylan. Have fun and good luck on your CT adventure
oh crap. I forgot my carbon UL fly fishing pole 🤣
Really good run down. Could you post a post-race review of your set-up/kit list?
I have an in-depth debrief podcast coming out soon when I dive into this.

thanks dude. A long twist tie makes a great leash for anything. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video and good luck
much appreciated 🖖🏻
It would be awesome if you can make a video on your tarp set up. Good luck on your race.
Cheers!
I will do that after the CTR - especially if it works well someplace else than my back yard.

maybe I missed it, what's your gearing for the bike? good vid as always.
I forgot to say! 32t up front and 10-51 out back.
Are you rocking a helmet light?

nice. you think you will win? if not, then I would take a normal saddle bag... take a bit more stuff, or have room for stuff you pick up on the way.

No rain pants?
quickly mentioned around 17:45. They are the Gorewear C5 with Paclite
This will make you feel good... Your loaded bike is lighter than mine?!#$ 🙄
not sure how this is possible - its like defying known laws of the universe. I don't have food weight in my Lighterpack table yet - that it?
