You can open the AirTag up and disconnect the speaker. There’s plenty of videos on TH-cam on how to disable the speaker. Makes it vastly harder to find then.

Oh man idk. In Finland you don’t have to lock your car or your house. You can leave em wide open and noting will happpen. But your bike might get stolen even with the toughest lock

Completely agree with the warrants. I had a bike that got stolen that was sitting in the thief's house for a whole year. The police told us they will need a warrant to get in, and that never happened. Luckily the thief pawned the bike off and it ended up sitting in a pawn shop, where we were allowed to recover it!

Olympic, UCI, NCAA and most organized governing bodies have testosterone standards for trans-women athletes. Is there a held standard for trans-women athletes with FKT's? Has Austin Killips met UCI standard even though FKT's are not UCI events?

Sure you can disable the speaker... But you can't disable the UWB pinpoint ability.... However.. You can by a device that works on the Apple find my system but does not have UWB.... Chipolo One Spot... And you can disable the speaker... They will only know there is one in the area of 30'... Yeah the small the items the easier it is to locate but without pinpoint - its added time to allow the search. Awesome for cars.

I was so jazzed to see this pop up. I rode the loopy loop and was the other rider who took Bodhi's incorrect gpx. I realized at 1:30 am day 2 when I finally had service to check trackleaders, was super confused but able to see Bodhi went my way too so didn't feel too bad. Awesome interview. Super tough route but really fun, beautiful, and rewarding.

For me I went with the heavy u lock, chain, handcuffs, and tracker. Most recently I found out about 529 Garage, hopefully with all that I have a chance of the bike not being taken, and if it is, a slim chance of it actually getting back to me.

Canyon really doesn't pay attention during assembly and shipping. They gave me a frankenbike too, without first confirming with me whether I'm ok with it. I'd rather have a complete flawless product than be bothered writing tickets and waiting for stuff to arrive. Sold the Canyon and bought Specialized instead. Worth the money. I can just go to the shop and have stuff fixed for free when it's covered by warranty.

I'm currently looking at getting the new Tern Orox. I'm in my early '50s and live in the Pacific Northwest. Most of my 20s and early '30s I practically lived on my bike. In my 40s it was mostly pedaling my kid around, but life took away most of my adventure riding. Now that my teenager is getting ready to graduate from high school, I'm eyeing backpacking trips on a bike and ran across your channel. My thought on e-bikes is that they can level the playing field for everyone and get more people into cycling that wouldn't otherwise try it. For myself the orox is a beast, but after test writing it it was so fun to ride and more agile than I expected. And carry enough weight to even include a solar panel if I wanted to charge in a remote spot for a day or two while camping. It seems to me there just needs to be smart regulations. Like all technology there's good and bad, but as battery technology gets better I can see e-bikes becoming rather mainstream. At least I hope so, I think it's good for people to be a little bit closer than nature and less cars on the road would be nice.

With regards to the precision of the air tag providing the location, there are issues. The accuracy improves when you are in an area of multiple cell towers such as a central business district. However, such places seldom have buildings with just one or two stories. If the location is an office building, the police would have difficulty determining which floor the air tag is on, and which room on that floor to search. This is because the triangulation of the air tag is imprecise even in an area well supplied with cell towers. If the building is an apartment building, the police would need a warrant for each of the possible locations shown for the air tag.

My husband had a bike stolen. He spotted someone riding it, and called the cops. The person with the bike showed the cops a receipt for the bike. The cops told my husband that nothing could be done unless he could prove that he didn’t sell the bike to the perp.

You can detect any Bluetooth device near you by just scanning for thier advertisements that they send periodically, so Stalker mode is just a more obvious way of detecting the air tags.

You’re offering a perspective just for the sake of it, without providing any real value. Advising against using AirTags or trackers is terrible advice. You claim to have researched for this video, yet you fail to mention that disabling the audio feature is a simple solution. As someone else pointed out, you’ve clearly left out key information to create a more dramatic angle and bait viewers into watching. It’s like you’re trying to be a video journalist without understanding journalism at all.

I ended up buying a specialized diverge carbon sport and love it. Currently doing 700 mi in the Netherlands on it and it rides like a dream with all the bags attached.

You mention trail running parts in the future - I don't know if you fastpack/backpack at all, but if so I'd strongly suggest doing Collegiate West from Twin Lakes to Monarch pass by foot at some point. No bikes so you wouldn't have done it in the CTR, but IMO is one of the most beautiful sections (80ish miles) of the trail.

Well. Chinese apple people buy an android. My samsung smart tags don't have any of these issues. Then on the note of their " 4th amendment " dies qualify if there is proof. Well the proof is the smart tag no matter which brand. So therefore a search can and will be done. helps to actually know law. Who's going to stop me from retrieving my bike once I've tracked it down. I have a ccw so the perp isn't. The cops won't because the don't do respond to calls like this. Next you think a thief will call the police? Lol. No that's why people rob drug dealers they can't and w9nt report it. Lmfao

I'll just use a light weight lock and have a small sign made for it that says "This bike is owned by a Southern Redneck. If you steal it, I'll find you. The police will not be looking."

Great insights, i use two six foot long small diameter plastic coated aircraft cables (from amazon) with loops on each end and the the bigger ziplocks to secure.

Odd! If you are resupplying one person goes into the store and the other person stays with the bikes. Why such a heavy reliance on technology? If a business won’t let me take my bike into the shop I simply won’t shop there. Do your research before you go. And won’t attempt any bike packing ventures where I can’t keep my bike with me at all times safe and sound. Might sound haughty but if your precious bike gets stolen, could it be that you allowed it to happen?

Flow state! Now I have a word for it. It's my favorite part of bikepacking. It's the part that allows me to forget all the reality of living and truly focus on the moment. Kinda like a state of bliss and ven for me. Even when the focus is simply to survive. Flow state, that's why I do this. ❤
