As a moderate and former republican I basically agree with Cenk in that I think it's time for the Democratic Party to move in a more Sanders like populist direction on economics if it wished to win elections against a populist right. I live in Bulloch County GA where an anti-growth / anti-business populist faction took over the local Republican Party. The policy proposals offered by Republican local candidates promised to push away economic growth. I really thought that that enough business republicans would vote for a very pro-business, culturally conservative white democratic white man to make the election for the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners. The democrat got tons of republican donations, but the votes didn't follow the donations. If a pro-business democratic message doesn't work under the local circumstances in Bulloch County, it isn't going to work at all. It's not my personal preference, but it is what it is.

I think you can also run on things like medicare for all single payer healthcare or general healthcare expansion without necessarily copying 100% of Bernie's plan (and additionally, I think framing the question with "taking away private insurance" just gives a gut reaction of "no I don't want to lose something" from a lot of people).
I agree, however removing private insurance is just a legitimately bad idea that almost no country does. There's only 8 countries (of 24) in Europe that don't have private options in addition to public coverage, and 0 in Southeast Asia.

I remember watching tyt in the early 2010s when I was around 14 through 16, I want to say. Over those years the thing I noticed about chank, Anna and all of those people went from reasonable with SOME bad takes. Why did Bernie Sanders not become president in 2020 if the voters wanted him? Also Destiny was mentioning how much support different forms of universal healthcare is pretty important. There were polls back in 2019 during the primaries that showed that many Americans didn't want to lose access to their private insurance and have it replaced with the government. That's why you had candidates try to push for multi payer systems like in Germany so that there was some form of public option and the people who still wanted their current healthcare plan could keep that instead.

As a moderate and former republican I basically agree with Cenk in that I think it's time for the Democratic Party to move in a more Sanders like populist direction on economics if it wished to win elections against a populist right. I live in Bulloch County GA where an anti-growth / anti-business populist faction took over the local Republican Party. The policy proposals offered by Republican local candidates promised to push away economic growth. I really thought that that enough business republicans would vote for a very pro-business, culturally conservative white democratic white man to make the election for the Bulloch County Board of Commissioners. The democrat got tons of republican donations, but the votes didn't follow the donations. If a pro-business democratic message doesn't work under the local circumstances in Bulloch County, it isn't going to work at all. It's not my personal preference, but it is what it is.

I remember watching tyt in the early 2010s when I was around 14 through 16, I want to say. Over those years the thing I noticed about chank, Anna and all of those people went from reasonable with SOME bad takes. Around 2016 I noticed the Cenk really started leaning into this hyperbole that he does every time I see him now. Not sure about Europe, but here in Hong Kong that would be considered a massive regression. In fact, the countries with the best healthcare in SEA (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Macau) all allow private providers. No one here would want a system like that so it's no surprise people in the US oppose it.
The government should make sure everyone is provided for, while also allowing for all private providers since that combination will serve the most people and avoid the most problems.

Also Destiny was mentioning how much support different forms of universal healthcare is pretty important. There were polls back in 2019 during the primaries that showed that many Americans didn't want to lose access to their private insurance and have it replaced with the government.
That's why you had candidates try to push for multi payer systems like in Germany so that there was some form of public option and the people who still wanted their current healthcare plan could keep that instead.

Sometimes I agree with Cenk but his ugliness and aggression towards people who actually want to have a conversation is not the way to go. As cathartic as it may be sometimes when he slams bad faith actors, it’s not very productive. I understand that Cenk is passionate and genuine in his convictions but he needs to stop steamrolling people that don’t deserve it.

Destiny is 100% right here. Personally speaking Cenk and TYT are not at all the reason I watch left content, they always came off as too extreme and over emotional about their points. I don't believe they are as corrupt or bought off but they feel like the lefts equivalent to Fox news and just naturally come off as bias. Destiny can come off this way at some points but only when the others in the debate get too far off track from the point and act like they defended all their points just as well. David had a different vibe back when I first came across his content but he really keeps well on his points and keeps a level head at all times through anything I've seen him on. Glad to see the convo regaurdless I hope to see many more cross overs with David especially!
This was not Destiny's best debate performance. Especially the Pentagon stuff. I could barely follow his argumentation. It was all over the place.
