    just bought these and the instruction/little pamphlet that come with them is useless. This video is the best explanation of what to do to get them up and running etc. Thank You so very Much. Can I reach out to you and get some help with DMX programming on my OR Control DMX Master Controller. Just getting into this and there really needs to be a start from scratch series of videos that get you up too speed. I'm an old AV guy who has programmed multi image slide shows etc. for huge corporate events all over North America. I'm a quick learner, but there doesn't seem to be anything out there to get you going. This was a great video on this product and has filled in all the missing info that the instructions did not have. You should do a tutorial on DMX. I'd certainly pay for that! Thanx Brian

    Thanks for the info great video! Just got the same kit as in this video. The directions say to not frequently use the on/off button. I’m guessing because it can be easily worn out. Have you had any issues with that? Cheers!

    Very helpful video - Thanks. Do the receivers remember the frequency settings previously set after powering down? i.e.; light blue on transmitter and receiver. You had said before a setting up a gig, "I just power them on and they are ready to go"

    Hi Matt,
    Am I right in saying that these could carry a whole DMX show for lots of different fixtures?
    Say for example you connected 10 different lights with traditional cables up on a ceiling (all with different channels and features, doing different things etc.) I could then use one transmitter and receiver pair to send the signal from the desk up to the first fixture in the chain and they would all work fine?
    Sorry if i'm being stupid!!

    • @Code_mov
      @Code_mov  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep! That’s what we do often. The first fixture in the chain has the receiver, then the rest are just chained normally off of that first fixture. Works like a charm!

    Sorry if this question has been asked but I'm wondering if this would work:
    Transmitter plugged in to DMX controller.
    Receiver in light on right side of stage and then wired daisy chained cables to two other lights. Then receiver in light on left side of the stage and then wired cables to two lights?

    Do I need a controller or dmx software, say on an iPad to run these or can I just plug the transmitter into one light, then plug receivers into other lights as long as they are all on the same channel?

    • @regbateup1184

      @@regbateup1184 in theory that should work, as long as you’re able to control the light from iPad already. I use my laptop and these receivers/transmitters from light to light.

      Yeah, temperature effects mine. As mine are getting older, i notice that they are not lasting as long as they used to. They are still typically more than enough for a regular gig.

    9:45 so I can't have different lights operating on different channels?
    I am considering getting these, but before I order them, I want to know if these work in one of these three scenarios.
    Scenario 1: Let's say I have 3 lights (16 channels each), and I am lighting a small stage for a play or show. Light one is channel 1, light two channel 17, light three channel 34. I want all three lights to do different things. Light 1 is red, light 2 is blue, light 3 is green. My DMX controller is set up to transmit those values to channel 1, channel 17, and channel 34. Will if work if I plug a receiver to each of the light's female plug?
    Scenario 2: Let's say I have 6 lights (16 channels each) and I want to do the same lighting set up, but two per color (two lights are red, two are blue, and 3 are green). I set up a receiver in one light set to channel 1 and daisy chain it to another light set to channel 1 as well using a short dmx cable. I do the same for channel 17 and channel 34. It'll look like this:
    (receiver)(Channel 1 Light #1)---DMX---(Channel 1 Light #2)
    (receiver)(Channel 17 Light #1)---DMX---(Channel 17 Light #2)
    (receiver)(Channel 34 Light #1)---DMX---(Channel 34 Light #2)
    Scenario 3: I have three lights again and want to light up the three of them (red, blue, and green). I want to set up a rack of the lights, but only have 1 receiver. So, I connect light 1 to a receiver and daisy chain the others to it. Here is the set up:
    (receiver)(Channel 1 Light #1)---DMX---(Channel 17 Light)---DMX---(Channel 34 Light)
    Will this work?
    I hope this explanation is clear.

    • @50dred
      @50dred 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      All these do is replace the dmx wire from your lighting console to your lights. So whatever set up you have now (wired), will still work when you replace the wires with these. As long as you assign your lights to the respective channels you shouldn'thave any issues. I hope that helps.

    • @Code_mov
      @Code_mov  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve actually never encountered solid green! Usually green flashing is good, but when it loses signal, it goes back to whatever color the channel is. So like mine go back to red, which is the channel I selected when they lose signal.
