I agree. I am in no way knocking Vanguard’s line, but I’ve seen videos of them playing their book comparative to what these guys are throwing down…the degree of difficulty seems to be in BAC’s corner.
This line is straight up 🔥🔥🔥. The intensity. Tenors are insane. That 5th bass lick in Red’s…Snares paying everything legato with full extension…good lord! I constantly play up to 4:40 driving up to work everyday!
Dude those rounds on the tenors are fucking nuts. Not to mention how precise the tenors were with the zones and accents. The accents made those drums really stand out
I played when that's really all tenor lines used. I'm not that old at 38 years old. Sticks were just becoming a thing on my way out of the activity. But man, a well tuned tenor line, mallets over sticks and the quality of sound is pure bliss.
@@a.m.creativ same. I'm 41 and mallets were all that were used at the time. When sticks first started being used I thought it was weird. But now I don't notice it until someone actually uses mallets
@@RDawg007 I found the sound thin and lacked body. In 2002, we used Vegas sticks for some passages but mostly used mallets. In 2003 and my last year 2005, it was mostly mallets.
Wait 7:42. Did center tenor play triplet roll into singles into triple roll and the rest of the tenor-line played triple roll into reverse egg beater or 2-4s (maybe?) into triplet roll and it was fucking clean?
Yeah two of them played 2-4s, one guy played singles in the middle of it, and the guy on the end played a straight triplet roll the whole time. Really strange. But also real clean so I ain’t complaining.
@@joshuagass6442 if you are THAT good where you can do that, then you are obligated to play crazy shit like this. I’d kill to play in a like that good again.
Mostly just hardware changes. Thinner top rim profile (just barely), different free-floating sound post channels, different snare strainer mechanism at the least.
8:51 Mcnutt wrote a drum break for our hs like that lol, a 9 7 5. I know right? really fun to play in the lot! too bad we cut it due to show design (we always played in time but it was for show design) th-cam.com/video/62vIiK8cP8Y/w-d-xo.html (part 2)
I was having a good time watching this then I realized most if not all of these members weren't even a thought when I was in drum corps. Yikes. I'm old 😖😖
This year’s BAC opening tenor lick, and rightfully so. To add: still loving the fact that the emergency response vehicle lights and sirens come in at just the right time to let you know some hot tenor shit is about to drop😻
Jeez this is so fucking good. Mcnutt went mcnutty this year, and the line is pure power. I see high drums in the next couple years.

I knew what this was going to be because of who said it Haha
Thanks John for making something Colin has always written in his books at least once a meme

My god these quads sound good with mallets

does Boston drums sound a little different this year or just me? They sound great!
There's also Mike Jackson added to the mix
stone faced, nobody showing off, like a unit, uniformity and quality, all an alum could ask for
Hi bac drumline have a great holiday season hope to see everyone back in 2022 season starts with you guys being in ireland next march
Joey killin it on quads 🔥🔥🔥 i see you
Anyone have info on what’s different with the prototype snares?
they are mainly just louder
The most important difference is that the snare lever is finally matching chrome /hj

Notable moment at 2:22 where Gootz breaks the head visual with a no-look…because he doesn’t have to.
So good
Did that tenor march 2018 and 2019?
