Although they may seem disgusting, vultures have extremely acidic stomachs that make them good at digesting anything and resistant to diseases. Turkey vultures are a common sight, but california condors, another New World vulture that once roamed much of North America went extinct in the wild in 1987. Thankfully, they have been reintroduced to California, and there are also plans to repopulate Oregon and Washington.
