I have two. 1- I won an Atari 2600 playing the McDonald's Asteroids game back in the early 1980's. 2- My oldest brother was on a flight from LAX to JFK. The guy sitting in the seat next to him introduced himself to my brother using the name of our other brother. My brother said, "No you aren't." The guy was confused and eventually they exchanged IDs. They guy had the same entire name as our brother, even his middle name. Years later we find out that he's a really REALLY distant cousin from a branch none of us ever knew existed.
My son was 5 pounds ten ounces and his dad is 5 feet 10 inches. When the doctors told me I was going to give birth on April 11th my son's father said "Nah, you're going to deliver him on the 3rd of April, my birthday." And by God, he was right. They have the same name as well, but that's not a coincidence.
My mom was going to have a baby and I was 10 at the time and my smart self said he is probably going to be a boy and then said what if he is born the same month as my mom (since me my dad and sister where born in the summer)I PREDICTED EVERYTHING
My mom was basically infertile. One in a million chance the doctor said. Of her being able to get pregnant + make a baby. Suprise! She had my brother and me back to back.
1. fell off the 9' rung of a 10' ladder. The ladder was at the tipping point. I dropped straight down with no injuries and the ladder righted itself so it didn't fall. I wasn't injured. 2. bird aimed its crap so it fell on my shoulder.
I was sitting at the counter for lunch in Tacoma, WA. I started talking to the guy next to me. He said he had been visiting his brother in a small hamlet in Alberta, Canada. That hamlet had been my home town. It had a population of 50 people. I knew his brother. This was the only person I have ever met outside of Alberta who had even heard of my small hamlet.
I'm a volunteer at a zoo. One day I was in the hay shed, and the donkey pushed the door shut, slid the bolt across with its mouth, and locked me in. I was about to radio for someone to unlock the door, when the Code Red alarm went off, meaning a tiger might have escaped and the zoo needed to be evacuated. The code red meant no one could talk on the radio, so I was in there for over an hour before they called the all clear and I could be rescued.
Several years ago I went to New York with my mom. We went to a nets game while we were there and my mom ended up leaving her wallet in the bathroom. The next day we figured it out and spent all day retracing our steps and called the Barklays center. The man that answered had looked at her drivers license and recognized the town. Turns out that manager had lived there for many years before moving to New York and worked with my grandmother and knew her personally. Minutes before we had ran into my mom’s college friend that she hadn’t seen since graduation. Neither of us knew the other was in NYC
I was out walking my dog when this other pup (a mini Airedale terrier) was growling at him through a fence we had to pass by. My dog doesn’t like other dogs, so I was trying to walk quickly. The terrier was jumping like crazy. Just as my dog passes the fence, the terrier leapt OVER the fence. I have no idea how, but I managed to grab the terrier’s back legs in midair, swing it back and catch it in my arms. I’ve had to put myself in between my dog and others but I still have no clue how I reacted so fast and I highly doubt I could ever pull off anything that smoothly ever again
The story of the Welsh guy in Sweden reminded me of my sister (we're also Welsh) and her German husband in Australia. They were on a bus in the back of beyond somewhere near Cairns ("near" being a relative term in Oz). They were speaking English (they swap between languages depending on circumstance) and this old guy with a strong Oz accent asked her if she was from Wales. She said yes, they got chatting and he says he was born and brought up in a town in the west of Wales. She tells him our dad was from there so she knows it well. He asks Dad's name, she tells him (our maiden name is quite unusual) and he says, "Fred's boy?!" He knew our Grampa and Dad and all his many sibs. He'd moved to Oz about 50+ years before they met. I met 4 people (2 couples) from my village while in Milan train station. Was having a shitty day and I heard a very familiar accent (if you're Welsh, you can usually pinpoint someone's home to within 2 miles if it's within a roughly 50 miles radius). They knew both my parents, but mostly my dad. We couldn't go anywhere without people knowing him! Miss you Da xx
I was in a car accident I had no right to survive. I was going 60 mph and my car hydroplaned and I hit a utility pole. I was not wearing my seatbelt. I flew out of my seat and hit the passenger window so hard that (I shit you not) it literally knocked my shoes off. If I had been buckled or landed anywhere else I would have been crushed. I bruised up pretty good where I hit the window/door but didn't even break a bone. I'll never forget the way the first responders looked at me when they pulled up and saw me looking for my shoes in the rain.
Similarly, was playing Monopoly with my family, and it got down to just me and my brother. After a few minutes of playing, I landed on "go to jail," no doubles, so no early exit. After the 3rd turn, I rolled either once or twice, and landed on "go to jail." Repeat at least x2. My brother got so frustrated at my hardly ever landing on his properties, he just said "ok, we're pausing the game until you roll past 'go to jail' without landing on it.'" I rolled for a long time, and he just walked away after going I went to jail >10x in a row. Edit: spelling
At a restaurant with a big-ish menu, my friend & I managed to order the only two things that they were out of. (pizza with sausage for me, burger for him)
Got an upgrade to Business. Sadly, it was an 1h flight and I had already had lunch (the upgrade was right before getting inside the airplane). I wish it had happened on the previous 9-hour, overnight flight 😂
I used to have a job making balloon animals at kids birthday parties. Once I was in the art museum in Chicago and a little boy came up to me and hugged me. I looked down and it was a kid that I had made balloons for the weekend before. I live in Michigan. I got used to random kids recognize me in the small town I live in but it was weird seeing one in another state.
One of my aunts (my mother's youngest sister) liked to ride horses, so she asked me to ride with her (on a different horse, of course) and I climbed on and the stirrups were a little long for my legs, and her horse started to run, and my horse took off following it. I fell off into a place where there were some shattered cinder blocks and bricks from a demolished house, and when I hit the ground, I was in the only bare area of ground within about 25 ft each way, so nothing was really hurt but my dignity. A couple of inches any direction, and I would have been seriously injured or killed. I have a deathly fear of falling (brought about from when I was about 3, but it happened so fast that it seemed like it was less than a second from the time I fell off to picking myself up from the ground and seeing how close I'd come to being really injured. Someone or something was looking out for me that day.
My late father had a sister that died young and I was trying to find her grave but forgot her first name and no one else remembered. One day I went to my father's grave and just asked him not expecting an answer, and when I turned to leave and there was the first name on a gravestone across the road. With that info was was able to find her.

She came over and was doing her usual thing. She called us several names and then started running towards her house. My friend took one of the ice cubes and threw it up in the air and it dropped perfectly and hit her square on her head. If anyone has ever seen an episode of the Tom and Jerry cartoon where a lady chucks a lump of coal. It hits Tom as he’s running away. That will give you an idea of what it looked like.
I dont think this is exactly one in a million, but when I was in high school we were playing basketball for our free time. I got the ball to hit the back of the wall and still make it in the basket.
Once my phone flew out of my pocket at the peak of a roller coaster (135ft) and not only did I manage to find it in a patch of mulch, it was also completely undamaged.

My mom’s uterus ruptured when she was giving birth to my brother. There was a very low chance that either of them would survive. Both of them ended up fine. My brother had no damage and my mom just had a catheter for a while.
I was in computer class, I think 5th, maybe 6th grade, and my friends had one of those foam stress balls they were throwing around, I was staring at my screen doing some HTML, and just suddenly got the urge to put my hand straight up like i was going to catch something. I caught the ball without even taking my eyes off the screen in the most ninja display of my life. Jaws were dropped all around me, and since I hadn't even meant, or really realized I had done it, I hardly reacted, as if it were something that I did all the time.
My family (we lived in Northern California at the time) went on vacation to British Columbia. While at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, who do we see but the big family from down the street 3 houses. Neither family knew the other was going there on vacation.
Well this isn’t exactly special but I helped participate as a volunteer on an episode of Mythbusters. Season 8 episode 21: President’s challenge. Me along with everyone else at my high school participated in the event. So it’s not much to brag about, not when a few hundred other people can claim the same.
I was playing poker with a bunch of guys who let me join the game, I've played with them alot and allways. Went out. Well when i started 3 of them had BIG piles of chips in front of them and two more guys doing well. I just proceded to guess and bluff my way threw the game and won all three piles and just had the best game of my life!!! All because of DUMB LUCK!!!
