Awesome to see the behind the scenes of it all and the preparation work and mental fortitude it takes to get through all this! We offer a little bit of last minute encouragement on Double Peak but man, you take care of the days leading up to the event, and maybe most importantly, the post finish like come down. Appreciate the recap and keep up the good work!
Cool vid. Very enjoyable to watch what happens at the pointy end of the field. At 17:50 who was wearing the green jersey with the GoPro mounted on his helmet?
Actually all we had was box score in new your times and the Stars and Water Carriers movie and vhs cassette from satellite dish recordings given to us by Italian Deli of the Giro. You did a great job
These big US gravel races are looking more and more like Continental classics every year. How many follow cars were there for this thing? These races have completely replaced things like the tour de California.
Yeah. Quite a bit of attention at the front groups. Lots of cars, cops media vehicles etc. Still not the level of Tour of California but getting closer.
Really felt that Monument Cycling could have organized the event better. Jeeps and Trucks were off-roading during Black Canyon, no first aid at the aid stations at a race that advertises how brutal it is…and the WORST they had no water or electrolytes at the aid stations coming out of the hardest section of the course…..for such a premiere event, these things made it very disappointing
There was some first aid at the aid stations, I had to get bandaged up twice, but I do agree that the aid stations were not great in terms of gels, electrolyte, and beverage offerings. There was a clear discrepancy between expectations in the race Bible and what we got. Other than that, still had a grand time at BWR and I'll definitely be back.
I should add mostly wondering what people thought. With that said I did have a really great time on the course and the people riding were so much fun. It’s just that feeling of aaahhh what could have been if they actually delivered what was promised in terms of aids station. They did have SO many mechanics available which was pretty amazing
@@Veloworthy I would hope so; it’s the average cyclist that makes these event possible. It’s fun to see the pros rip it up, but it’s the financial backing from literally thousands of people that make this ride work. I agree, the rest stops were pretty lackluster, which is unfortunate because I’ve only ever heard how amazing they were. Regardless, I had fun and would probably do it again.
Dude I only heard today. Mo Wilson the chick who took the 1st place was shot and killed at her house like a day or two ago. Wtf? Anyone know more details post it up here let us know!! Fking insane
No finishers t shirt, one waffle for breakfast, no oasis, it’s just getting cheaper and losing its essence and more woke, won’t be doing this next year.

Great video-young juniors could learn a lot watching this video!

Cool vid but how is this not just another road race.
7:30 is heart wrenching
Matt Beers puts it on the podium in his first gravel race 👊👍
He was at the front putting the hurt on people!
Yep- awesome Matt 🍺🍻 This video does not even acknowledge him , thanks to the commentator in the background for giving him his due
Nicely done Brian! 💯⚡️🧇
Thanks so much for checking it out John!
This is awesome and also a great way to remember Mo.. 😭
So true. Thanks so much for watching.
SAD to see Mo gone !!!
Her memory lives on in these videos.
@@Veloworthy I agree. She will be missed and I am so sad
@@Veloworthy CS murdered her
I really watched this to see Matt Beers, he got P2 and you guys couldn't even mention him let alone inform yourself about him.
Thanks for checking out the video. He’s a really great guy! We went out to dinner with him that night.
@@Veloworthy But still could not mention him in the video tsk tsk
who’s the girl in orange camo?
That would be gravel pro Isabel King!

Hopefully in the future the experience for the majority can be similar to the experience of the pros.

I have it its great🔥👍
gravel is an individual sport. Road cycling is a team sport
Yes. Tactically it usually never uses team tactics compared to a road race. Off the bike, riders often spend time together as if they are a team.

Just wow!!!

blurry and unsteady. how can anyone point a camera that badly...
I'd like to see you try. You realize they are running around all over the place to try to keep up with the riders?
