    I just did the guides and chains on my 986, almost ready to put the motor back in, unfortunately I have a broken exhaust bolt that I am still working on. Nice work, super jealous on the build!

      Good luck with the broken exhaust bolt! Your car will be sweet once it’s all back together!

    Just a question about your timing tool kit you have. Can you tell me where I can purchase one.

      @FunAhead_TV_Official  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I got my timing kit on Amazon. It’s the Chinese knock off, which people have had mixed results with. That being said, I’ve used it many times on multiple engines and had zero issues with it.

    Outstanding series, David! A couple of questions...did you consider going with the Ultimate AOS? Did you consider the LN spin on filter set-up? How did you arrive at the choices you made on these items?
    I had the same coolant drip from that small cover and slightly tightening it seems to have done the trick. But I wonder if a guy could just R&R it with some RTV? If that cover is removed do you loose a lot of coolant? You use the 75w90, but when I called Red Line, they recommend the 75w90 NS for my car. I have the Aisin 6sp, where I believe you have a ZF. Not sure what "NS" stands for (no slip?), but it must be different somehow. Really enjoying these videos!

      Thank you, Tom! Much appreciated. I hadn't really considered the Ultimate AOS.. Maybe someday, but up until this point, I haven't had any issues with the stock one on track... no oil burn in intake, excessive crankcase pressures, etc.. And as far as the LN spin on, I don't mind changing out the stock cartridge filter, so no I didn't consider that one.
      It's very possible some RTV could keep it at bay. I have the gasket now though, so I'll swap it out soon enough. Yes, that cover holds back a LOT of coolant, so it's going to be messy.
      That's good Red Line is looking out for your specific car! Mine is the Getrag G96.xx something.. I believe the normal 75W-90 is OK to run in mine. You're correct, NS is no slip, so if that's specified, then the synchros in your transmission are more sensitive to slip additives.

    Thanks for the video. I’m just at this step on my M96 rebuild. What source did you use for your procedure? Is this your first M96 rebuild?

      The Porsche manual. Nope, very much not my first M96 rebuild. Why do you ask?

      @@FunAhead_TV_Official Thanks for the reply. I’ve come across a few different procedures and they all seem to differ slightly. I appreciated some of the finer points that you went over when explaining the process.

      Thanks for watching along! There are for sure some differing procedures out there centered around timing. Is that more-so what you were referring to?

      @@FunAhead_TV_Official Yes, the slightly different procedures when it comes to timing the camshafts. Looking forward to your next video. All the best.

      @FunAhead_TV_Official  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For sure. I’ve heard all sorts of different things. At the end of the day, 1: You need to remove chain slack / play, and 2: you need to be at OT to lock in the crank / cams. The procedure I outlined is tried and true. Let me know if you end up wanting to know any specifics / details on anything I did. You can always feel free to shoot me an email too if that’s easier. funaheadtvofficial@gmail.com
