@scatman786 I don't include things like Civil War or Planet Hulk as part of modern comics. I speak of those in phases 2 and 3 of MCU, like DC 52 and Marvel now and then on. So, I truly do mean that it was the best of modern comics because I wouldn't include Civil War or Planet Hulk a part of them.
It was good, but not best. I mean gorr died like 6 or so issues after he was introduced. He recently came back in the new Phoenix comic and was burnt to ash. He was a cool villain that was extremely one note. I hoped him showing back up in new comics would change things, but it didn’t.
Instead he did step in the writers room and brought like 10 people with him! This is why most scripts are written by one or two people. You try making everyone happy, no one ends up happy. Honestly should’ve just gone with another director too. This movie needed to be at least dramatic and that’s not really his style at all.
It’s kind of hard to ruin a character who did more in a show about SHIELD Agents than she did in two movies dedicated the mythology she’s from. Unless you mean the MCU ruined Sif, which you would be correct

People didn’t like Ragnarok because it was good, they liked it because it was different from Thor 1 & 2. I can tell the truth & acknowledge that Thor 2 wasn’t the best, but Thor’s personality & theme didn’t deserve to be uprooted and turned into one big joke.
I wanted Gorr to be acting like Kratos killing gods but no instead it happens off camera and his “necrosword” the sword with the power to kill gods, gets destroyed within seconds like a piece of glass.
The problem is that people loved Ragnarok. Fake fans wanted Thor to be more like the other characters because they hated his uniqueness amongst the human characters. So they hired Taika to erase Thor’s personality and turn him into a Californian hipster.
I think I hated this movie so much because of the wasted potential. It had a recipe for an amazing film, but they somehow managed to completely butcher it.
I agree, Beta Ray Bill, Man-Thing and Bi-Beast was teased and appeared as stone faces on the tower in Thor: Ragnarok. Beta Ray Bill better appear in Thor 5. Balder the Brave was teased in a similar way on Loki. The Enchantress is also one of the many rumored characters to appear in the MCU.
To be fair, knull wasn’t introduced into the comics until like 4 years or so after gorr was already written out in the comics. It was kind of a retcon that his sword was from knull. Plus, Sony has the rights to knull in live action, so that crossed out any hopes of a mention or sight of knull in this one.
Every Thor movie has meant to be funny, but I feel based on the underlying seriousness of the storyline this movie had too much comic relief. Given there are theories that the whole movie is Korg relaying the story to the children so he had to make it whimsical and fantastical

To be honest, the movie followed the same formula Marvel has had for years. They fight a villain they can't beat, they go find a plot McGuffin to help them beat the villain, turns out to be a waste of time, and they find out the "power was in them the entire time" or something cringe like that. Like you could take the god city part out the movie, and nothing would change.

Jason Aaron’s god of thunder run with gorr is my favorite Thor comic of all time and I absolutely love this film. It’s hands down my favorite Thor and MCU phase 4 film (and one of my MCU faves overall). It was such a fun movie, the soundtrack kicked ass, everyone in the film had the best outfits of any Thor movie, and my favorite Thor villain from the comics, Gorr showed up. It’s literally everything I could ever want from a Thor film. I also think this movie was more serious than Ragnarok. People say this one’s more comedic, but the only serious scene in the previous movie was Odin dying. Love and thunder kept Gorr, Jane’s cancer reveal, and most of the third act decently serious. That’s still more serious moments than in Ragnarok. I don’t care what anyone says, it’s one of my favorite MCU movies ever.
This movie and the many others that came before and after it were prime examples as to why you need to proofread/double proofread your writer and director's material before giving it a greenlight.
I remember back in 2019 when Endgame came out. I told my friends that 15 years from then, people would be saying that making Thor a jokey character was a bad move. Love and Thunder came out 3 years later and proved I was being too generous.

They simply could have just made a serious Thor film like the first... with christian bale and it would have been fine
I saw this movie in 4DX, which is where the seats move around when stuff happens on the screen. It was like getting kicked in the back by a child for 2 hours, while watching the worst Marvel movie to ever be created.
We wanted Gorr, they gave us Voldermont.
We wanted Beta Ray Bill, they gave us
Lady Thor Jane Foster.
We wanted a Epic Shakespearean Fantasy Thor Movie, they gave us an Adams Family Rom-Com rated PG-13.

I honestly believe that at this point, they should make this movie completely non canon and remake it and take it fucking seriously when remaking it. Such a waste of such a good storyline and a complete waste of such a talented actor as Christian Bale.
They literally couldve made most of this movie abt thor overcoming his depression and how a god can train himself. And they couldve just ended the movie where this movie began, when thor finds his peace and waits for his next battle.....BUT NOPE GUESS NOT

Ikr Lady Sif is quite important in the comics, or at least way more than the movie portrays her, to do her like this saying she's not gonna enter Valhalla despite being one of the best warriors of Asgard for haha funny joke is plain disrespect
Dude, look what they did to the warriors three? They basically butchered Thors entire supporting cast and replaced them with race swapped drunk lesbo Valkyrie and Korg (who himself is a butchered version of a character that belongs in a Hulk movie)
I hated everything this movie did. I hated at the beginning when he fought muppets, I hate when Jane, the random child, every character, evey plot, everything was trash.
This movie REEKS of Disaster Movie and all those other bad 2000s spoof movies. That Thor and Sif scene, Zeus in a skirt and the whole Bao the dumpling god bs is straight up a parody of Thor.

A fair criticism. This moive ruins what comes before it for Thor. The tone is always funny, and the only time it's not is when he's talking to Jane in her literal death bed.
They had a retcon in it, and it was hot garbage. It also makes you think since he can share his powers, why didn't he give it to others during the battle in Endgame, Infinity War, or any other Avengers or Thor moive.
At least with Madam web it's, its own contained mess.

Also if eternity was something that could grant wishes like the infinity gauntlet why didn't Thor say anything about it. Cause in love and thunder he knew about eternity he didn't just learn about it then.
Why was he so depressed when he knew a possible solution to the snap. Why did he let the Avengers do something so hard and dangerous - inventing time travel - instead of offering eternity as a solution.

I mean in madame webs case a lot of ppl knew it was gonna be shit, the trailer is shit, the lead actress couldn't give a shit in the marketing. Overall it's just shit. While TLAT we were hyped with multiple high calibre actors, a hype ass trailer, and the fact that Gorr is played by Bale. Not to mention it rode the hype of Ragnarok so we all expected it to be good, just for waititi to smear his shit all over it.
I love how Gorr believes that the Gods are evil and care only about themselves so his plan to get back at them is to... Rely on their goodwill and self-sacrifice to save the kids.

I wanted Gorr to be acting like Kratos killing gods but no instead it happens off camera and his “necrosword” the sword with the power to kill gods, gets destroyed within seconds like a piece of glass.
The problem is that people loved Ragnarok. Fake fans wanted Thor to be more like the other characters because they hated his uniqueness amongst the human characters. So they hired Taika to erase Thor’s personality and turn him into a Californian hipster.

I agree, Beta Ray Bill, Man-Thing and Bi-Beast was teased and appeared as stone faces on the tower in Thor: Ragnarok. Beta Ray Bill better appear in Thor 5. Balder the Brave was teased in a similar way on Loki. The Enchantress is also one of the many rumored characters to appear in the MCU.

To be fair, knull wasn’t introduced into the comics until like 4 years or so after gorr was already written out in the comics. It was kind of a retcon that his sword was from knull. Plus, Sony has the rights to knull in live action, so that crossed out any hopes of a mention or sight of knull in this one.
they made Jane into Thor _specifically_ in the comics, so they could do something like this. you cant convince me otherwise.
Jane first became Lady Thor in a What-If comic in the 1970s. Marvel didnt creat Lady Thor just so they could have her in a movie.

Every Thor movie has meant to be funny, but I feel based on the underlying seriousness of the storyline this movie had too much comic relief. Given there are theories that the whole movie is Korg relaying the story to the children so he had to make it whimsical and fantastical

I remember when the phase 3 panel dropped. Got hyped for Ragnarok, got disgustingly disappointed. Phase 4 panel drops, I get excited that maybe Taika learned from his Ragnarok mistakes but nope. He actually doubled down.

They tried to justify Valkyrie's lowlife past of desertion and trafficking by saying it was Odin's fault. Yeah, Odin lied about Hela, but he didn’t tell Valkyrie to run away and spend millennia selling innocents to their deaths. Killing others because you lost someone important to you is sociopathic.

One thing I will give the movie was the opening and the scene were Jane dies were really good scenes.
The Loki dying joke was funny a bit especially how he kept coming back.
The part were Thor talks about love to Gorr was a great scene.

To be honest, the movie followed the same formula Marvel has had for years. They fight a villain they can't beat, they go find a plot McGuffin to help them beat the villain, turns out to be a waste of time, and they find out the "power was in them the entire time" or something cringe like that. Like you could take the god city part out the movie, and nothing would change.
The only good moment this movie gave me was when thor threw his axe at the kids i yelled " holy sh@t he killed him" and got a few chuckles

The worst thing about this movie is that the biggest criticism about Marvel movies is that they are all the same and when a director finally gets creative freedom to make a marvel movie his own, he ends up just making a straight up parody.
The worst part is that this movie had a fantastic opening. It had such a strong start then it took one of the most intense nosedives I’ve ever seen
me too man, only movie to make me kinda pissed or dissapointed while I was watching it in the cinema. The Sif joke about Vallhala feels to me like. Its a thing of honor to die in battle in the tradition their basing these characters from and Sif is supposed to be an honorary warrior and she ends up "playing dead" waiting to bleed from her arm being cut off. It takes from the respect that one can feel to her as a warrior the way I see it.

Jason Aaron’s god of thunder run with gorr is my favorite Thor comic of all time and I absolutely love this film. It’s hands down my favorite Thor and MCU phase 4 film (and one of my MCU faves overall). It was such a fun movie, the soundtrack kicked ass, everyone in the film had the best outfits of any Thor movie, and my favorite Thor villain from the comics, Gorr showed up. It’s literally everything I could ever want from a Thor film. I also think this movie was more serious than Ragnarok. People say this one’s more comedic, but the only serious scene in the previous movie was Odin dying. Love and thunder kept Gorr, Jane’s cancer reveal, and most of the third act decently serious. That’s still more serious moments than in Ragnarok. I don’t care what anyone says, it’s one of my favorite MCU movies ever.

I never got that debate that the reason he couldn't have given people his abilities in endgame is because he didn't have the lighting bolt
Peak comedy was when Gorr decided to revive his dauther and push her on Thor while Jane was dying few meters from him.
“My arm is in Valhalla. I will join it.” could be SUCH an awesome line if it were taken seriously.
