    Hey mate. 2006 Crf450x I’ve changed the engine oil
    I can’t find the bolt you undid
    I see one right next to the engine bolt and where you indicated it was but it’s a couple of inches deeper past the engine oil bolt. Does that sound about right to you?

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to say with that description but take it out, if oil comes out, you got it!

    For your transmission oil you should use specific transmission wet clutch oil if your bike has 2 separate engine and transmission oil cavity's

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly, this oil is wet clutch safe. As long as it doesn't say "energy conserving" or anything like that in the circle on the bottle, you're good to go! Thanks for watching!

      Logan Munoz Drain plug or fill plug? Either one make sure the threads are OK don't force anything. If the threads are messed up, replace the plug and chase the threads with a tap if it's the drain plug.

    Hey some videos says that you need to unplugged the chek oil bolt for the transmission side and when it start to cool out you can stop putting oil.
    Should I trust the 0.59 ML as honda is saying or the bolt ?

    Rotella T says diesel. What's your take on this?

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      David Bain That's the stuff! It's marketed towards diesel but is great for anything. I have been using it for years in all my bikes from my 510 Hunqvarna Supermoto with a 10,500 redline to street to trail to roadrace. Even in my cars and lawnmowers. Shell also recommended the t4 for my zero turn hydraulic pump oil.

    What fluid did you use on the transmission side?. I have a 2007 Honda CRF450R

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mostly use Rotella T6 but I have really liked the HP trans oil 80/85 lately on the transmission side or the transmission of my 2 stroke.

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But in this video I used Rotella T4. The more important thing is to keep it clean.

    Is it possible that engine can burn transmission oil? My crf450 was burning oil and when i went to replace the oil, left side of the engine had oil as i have seen it on the glass, but when i took the transmission oil bolt there was not one drop of oil from there....could it be bad right side crankcase seal?

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If it was a two stroke a bad right crank seal would cause a drop in transmission fluid and excess smoke. This is a 4 stroke so if you had a bad right crank seal your tranny side would be low but your engine side would be high.

    • @CroProNoob
      @CroProNoob 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TepcoCycleRepair engine side had right level of oil...so could it be that its burning engine side oil and tranny oil when it goes to engine side to fill it up?

    Hey man I have a 2012 crf . I did an " oil" change Tyne other day by draining the oil through the sump plug . What part of the engine am I draining by doing that and how do I drain the other part of the bike ?

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      tinkletoesrus what size CRF? If it's a 230 or 100 or any of their air cooled bikes it only has 1 drain plug. If it's the race model, 250 450 etc. it has two drain/fill plugs.

    • @tinkletoesrus
      @tinkletoesrus 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tepco Cycle Repair 450 . I watched you're video again seems I had been removing the wrong bolt for transmition sussed it now. So people use different oils for each side of the engine do they both go through the same filter ? How do they not croscontaminate

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      tinkletoesrus they are separated internally, transmission, clutch with no filter and piston, crank, valves run through a filter. You can use the same oil in both sides as long as it doesn't say fuel conserving or similar in the circle on the back like i show in the video.

    • @tinkletoesrus
      @tinkletoesrus 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the quick reply, learn something new everyday. I have done a change of oil on both now using the same oil. cheers

  • @tinkletoesrus
    @tinkletoesrus 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    why cant you drain it by the sump

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      tinkletoesrus There is no standard 1 plug drains all like the XR models that share oil for both transmission/engine. These CRF's have different oil gallies for the transmission side and for the engine side, so they have two drain/fill plugs. See my other video for the engine side oil change. Thanks for watching.

    Question as stupid as it might sound, I just got a 07 450r and I did the oil change yesterday I added transmission fluid too 670 to be exact was I supposed to flush out the old one If so how ?

  • @darinwilliams9184
    @darinwilliams9184 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @darinwilliams9184

      Added 10-40. Would you use the same viscosity on the trans side?

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Darin Williams Engine oil is separate then transmission oil so no it won't affect it. 10-40 is fine on the trans side as long as it doesn't say energy or resource conservative. Thanks for watching!

    What i dont understand is why would you use a Diesel engine oil in a 4 stroke transmission when there are better proper specific motorcycle gearbox oils with the correct additives for gears and clutches..Heck 2 stroke bike transmission oil is better than Rotella T in my opinion..You could get away with it but oil is cheap,blown gearboxes are not.
