  • Come with us for first video (1 of 2) exploring the sights of Copenhagen Denmark and staying at the characterful Villa Copenhagen hotel - with it's unique rooftop pool!
    Follow us for our half of a weekend where we stay at Villa Copenhagen, a historic building with a contemporary twist including an impressive glass dome atrium. We also take an early morning swim in the hotel's unique feature - the only rooftop pool in the city.
    On arrival we head straight for Tivoli Food Hall to try the local delicacy of Smørrebrød - the Danish open sandwich with a variety of toppings. After which we head off to the historic district of Carlsberg Byen - home of the famous brewery. We explore this amazing neighbourhood with stunning architecture and end with a rooftop dinner at Tramonto Italian restaurant.
    The following morning we explore the more popular sites of Copenhagen, starting at the fortress of Kastellet before heading the iconic Little Mermaid statue. After which we take a stroll along the waterfront to the Amalienborg Royal Palace and Fredircks Kirke - The Marble Church. We take a detour to another great accommodation option of Copenhagen Admiral Hotel before finishing the day at the picturesque waterfront of Nyhavn.

    If you haven't already, you should visit CopenHill next time you are here. You can see it at 17:22 in your video - it's the one with the active smoke (well, steam) stack. It's a waste facility plant with a year-round ski slope running down its roof. It's such a playful idea for a building. It's like a waste facility plant and a mountain combined. I recommend renting bikes to get there as the ride there is lovely. Free to visit. Take the elevator up, enjoy the views and walk down. Then head to Reffen street food afterwards.

      Thanks for the recommendation! I know of it ( featured in a car commercial) but never made it out that far - as yet! One for a future visit.

    14:32 The city is running out of spaces for bicycle parking. Where you stand in this clip, they might extend bicycle parking over the railway. Over 60% use their bicycle each day and 50% use it to commute. This success has done that the city has build 5 or 6 new bridges over the harbour. Traffic congestion is something to do with bicycles. The first bridge congested, shortly after it was finished. A new one had to be built. That happened 4 times.

      Wow - but at least it's good for the environment! Like Amsterdam, I see many tourists unfamiliar to the bicycles and as so quiet, need to be mindful to avoid accidents!

    beautiful video , hope you enjoyed your stay in my city, one note two single beds is not typical Scandinavian, it may be typical in many hotels because a lot of friends travel together , and that way they can pull the beds a part a little and have a bed of their own, I have often traveled with my friend and hate when we get a double bed, and two single rooms is so much more expensive, so I'm sure they make it like this to give people a choice

      Many thanks for the feedback!
      The hotel does not appear to have twin bed rooms villacopenhagen.com/rooms/
      We paid the additional 90 DKK for a King bed so would have been too tight to separate (although appears to have separate bed bases / mattresses) however suspect might be possible for a queen bedded room.
      Was Lorraine's first time in Scandinavia so was not used to us having separate quilts!

    I am 59 and it is way too expensive... brutal in fact

    • @daleydepartures
      @daleydepartures  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Scandinavia is not cheap for sure, however like anywhere you can always target some more affordable options. In part 2 we found a Michelin Star restaurant but a fraction of the cost of the likes of Noma!

    Oh that is a GROSS insult- You didnt pet the elephants as you passed through! It is an old tradition to pat the elephants on their leg, to show that you appreciate their hard work holding that house. If you dont they may get angry, and wander off to join their kind, in the Copenhagen zoo nearby!

    • @daleydepartures
      @daleydepartures  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Love this! Sincere apologies to the elephants but will be back in Copenhagen again soon so will ensure I pay my respects!

      @@daleydepartures Thanks! Back in the days, when I worked at the ZOO, I often contemplated taking a wheelbarrow full of elephant manure with me from work, and dump it behind one of the statues.. never found the nerves to actually do it, sadly.
