TBH I cleared NG with outdated gear and just gettinga good switch glaive every mission and spamming points into magic. Kunai build seems REALLY strong tho. nice build
For anyone coming here after the game being free on playstation: This still works pretty much exactly the same way. It's still the one of the if not the strongest NG build out there (there's a reason why there are featherless speedruns). Humans now tend to block after 3 kunai hits, but you can still throw 3, then attack in some other way and throw 3 again. It's as ridiciulous against yokai as it's always been and feathers which you will usually unlock around level 30-50 if you use ninjutsu alot early still destroy.
Hi new nioh 2 players I have some questions like didn't they nerf ninjutsu like most other comments says also is there alternative build for new players who don't wont use ninjutsu?
Finally after a dozen plus build guides this is something I or any beginner just starting the game can do! Seriously every build guide you see a gamer kill bosses within seconds while having over 10 items activated or thrown at enemy at once...then they go in and within seconds the boss dies. Then when they go to character screen they are like level 160 plus! They also have such rare unique builds or armor too and I am like these videos don't help anyone but maybe 1% of the gamers out there! Like how long it takes to even get where these guys are?! They are over 100 plus hours into the game! Yet its presented as if it's easy and new, won't take to to long...lol. It's annoying and discouraging to see all these build guides knowing no way I'll ever reach or find what they found etc...also catch 22! Honestly buy then if I reach level 160 or higher I'll be done with the game! These are endgame builds that have no use for beginners. More for ng plus.. which I never do. Don't have the time anymore to invest such a long drawn out gaming adventure. I want something for early game that I can try out to get into the flow of the game better.
Put down the game for a year in early region 3. Came back, using this build. I don't even know the buttons and I managed to do a twilight mission. It's super comfy to ease back into the game with this. Thanks for making this build.

Get behind yokai, very close, throw 2-4 salts depending on the yokai size. This will fully deplete their ki. Use feathers, and use phantom burst counter to animation cancel and spam. It's OP
To get the fuma gear early for persons who still dont understand you can farm the sub mission: Dark Omens or revenants. Which ever is efficient for you.
+PWAR Armor DOES has inheritable and EVEN familiarity bar.... but its ONLY for divine or maybe later etereal Furthermore to the ninja build. I would advice to use flying kato set since it has many good function: - DMG bonus from ninjutsu power - Faster ki recovery - Ninjutsu pwr buff - Untouched ninjutsu - extra ninjutsu dmg when ur max health I am trying to make that divine ninja build myself, hope it will work as I planned
I started making a build like this last night. Not sure if I want to go into skill or magic as a second stat later. I can confirm you get a spirit that helps with kunai and shuriken damage. (Thank you TH-cam thumbnail spoilers) All up nice build! It'll help improve mine and thanks for uploading the build.
This is the best video I've seen on this build. very clear. I think I just started getting to the point where I can do this (just got Fuma gear drops from the Viper stage). The skill system still confuses me though since I have no idea what is useful based on limited experience with the game
game is not broke just by ppl find its exploit build, they will nerf this, then new content arrives, another exploit finds, get nerf again, and repeat until final patch which is will be coming after dlc 3
Did you forget? Inherited stats for armor appears first on divine gear. Kunai scales with thrust damage. So rule of trusting from sword of spear also scale with Kunai. Gloves can temper Kunai damage 12.9%. So unless you can get Kunai damage again on fuma gloves. Shinobi gloves is best since ninja power is higher than you can temper on to it. Damnit I learned these things from you! I miss the bat :(

I gravitated to this build simply because I thought Kusarigama looked fun to use. I do still die plenty, and wouldn't say it has ruined my NG play through. Having tons of fun.
Pretty much the build I have gone with except havent used much magic so have to try and get that up to unlock weakness talisman. I have found the poison kunai very helpful as well. The build really seems to hit its stride 2nd half of 2nd section at least for me only problem is if you do get hit it really hurts lol but im finding it fun being a glass cannon. Didnt have a build or any idea in Nioh 1 until end game (then searched for builds and found this channel) so scoped out some ideas in beta and went with Ninja this time.
Dude I'm loving this early build. I don't even have it perfected but I'm doing all kinds of damage. Using kusa cause it's always been my favorite. And double hatchets and just throw them for more fun
Make a build using melee damage when critical + 40%~ melee damage when enemy is poisoned from accessories. Theres a really good set for "when critical". Combined with poison shuriken and protection talisman for invincibility. Use fire pots to burn yourself until critical. Get all critical nodes on the tree. Watch the numbers fly it's pretty nutty.
3:28 Are you serious?! Backstab damage is calculated into your Shuriken and Kunai damage?! I went for something I didn't do in Nioh 1; magic. I found the Shots particularly fast and powerful. Only 2 to 3 shots and a powerful enemy can get burned/broken/slowed which makes it not much of a threat. I struggle a bit with bosses, but it's been fun for me so far. I'm at the third chapter too.
Damage from behind works for everything. While it doesn’t have the fancy backstab animation of the Souls games, you should always try to get behind enemies as a result.
This game is HARD for me! And I’ve beaten all the dark souls and bloodbourne. As a result, I’m running a fuma build at around level 40 and STILL find this game difficult. Seriously, this game is no joke.
FrankySaint Really?? I found Bloodborne to be the PERFECT mix of difficulty for me. Just hard enough. Nioh 2 seems at least twice as hard as bloodborne to me. I fear EVERY single Yokai encounter....even after learning their patterns!! Very interesting....
@@obabas80 Soulsborne titles feel stiff for me because I grew up on hack-n-slash action games like God of War and Ninja Gaiden. For me, Nioh is just another Ninja Gaiden with RPG stats and a stamina bar. It really all comes down to what mechanics you're used to.
PWAR coming in strong out the gate, even if he had to put on pants for this video. I've been progressing with a setup designed for building up Anima as fast as possible and stomping enemies with Yokai abilities. So far it's been pretty good. Doesn't put up the same numbers as this, no way, but I'm also not using any consumables to keep it running and can trounce any encounter I come across if I lean into the build. It's been a lot of fun.
January 2023, I've found a few items with the inherit thingy you mentioned. For example the Bow Damage stat is inheritable on my Chinzei Hachiro (purple quality) bow
Has this been changed at all in the current patch of the game? It seems to me like ninjutsu power and %kunai damage don't stack on the same item. Everytime I test my kunai damage with and without a piece of gear that has both bonuses I only seem to be missing the higher of the two in my damage, i.e. the %kunai damage. It's like the game applies the higher of the 2 dmg bonuses but doesn't add them, so not sure about the ninjutsu power being worrh 0.5% damage and/or if it's worth tempering along %kunai damage.
He uses the omnyo magic to low the defense of the enemy,also he atack from the back,that do crazy damage,you must have done something diffent from him.
This is pretty much what I did for nioh 1. Go ninja with the kusarigama and unload on bosses with bombs and kunai while poking from a distance with the weapon and running circles around them.
I may be missremembering, but I think on Nioh 1 you didnt have armor inheritables until ng+ because only divine armor had familiarity which is what let you transfer that inheritable.

especially for some weapons. they nerfed dmg across the board because of the added burst counter and yokai skill mechanic, so you have to resort to something like this or high dmg % from paralysis/poison to actually do "good" damage.
I haven't had an issue. I spent the $100 however on the Delux and Season pass. So I got the bonus sets. Wore them one was heavy then other light. Simply went with weps I knew (Axe Odachi) when it doubt tank and spank. Even more so since if you can time your attacks well they do massive ki damage. Just Ki puls that stam bar back like a boss. However it's been slow going. Only secound reagon almost third. So this looks exciting cant wait to try it out.
@@Kumire_921 They always were when it came to Ki. They melted that shit. One thing to note. Book of Recon. Dose not reset your skills. Bought out used it to set up and try the Ninja build. Only for it to not reset my skills tree at all. So yeah that sucks lol
PWAR, I've followed this build at level 75 almost to a tee. The only thing I'm missing is the backstab damage bonus as I've tried tempering for hours and never gotten it on my tonfas. However, I don't do even half of the damage you do to bosses and enemies. Any advice on what I'm missing here?
I've been having an incredibly easy time with tonfas. basically, i just get all my stats and poor them into courage, with some in magic and hp. Get the heaviest armor possible and just put enough stamina to make sure it doesn't go over 100% Then get all your gear to have guarding reduced ki and shit tons of defense and toughness. See and enemy? just hold down block and never ever hit that dodge button again. Once they run out of ki or dont attack, just hit em with a strong attack combo, ki pulse, then go back to blocking, assuming they aren't downed. Enemy bursts don't even need to get blocked as they barely do 1/5th of your health, but still try to mess up their ki, if you miss though no real worry, and draining ki from your enemies to perform constant downed attacks is the tonfa MO. High block, high break, a super tank that never needs to dodge. Get brute counter cause even if you don't time it right and take some damage, so will the enemy and their burst and ki will get ruined regardless. Definitely the easiest build in the game by far. Have only died a handful of times, mostly just from me being a moron, I'm halfway through the game, no real grinding needed, and this is my first souls like game I've ever played, and this build can support noobs like me super well. For magic just get and max barrier, and then get and max purification, then a few elemental boosts against bosses you're struggling with. Its basically just to help kill yokai as its kinda slow, but tonfas make fighting any human opponent a fucking joke
That sounds too good to be true 😃 so do you have agility C? First difficulty of nioh games is always a pain in the ass and these bosses are such a fucking headache. I may try your build
did storm kunai or weakness talisman get nerfed? i can only deal 600 damage to obsidian samurai in the first clip using the exact same setup as you, meanwhile you deal 1100 damage.
The tonfa discord build i'm running is pretty op too. I literally discord every enemy in one combo or he dies on the way. Definitely more fun than pressing 1 button the entire game, but great build nonetheless!
@@PhanTasmGoriA no need for talismans. All you need is a custom skill on your demon dance like lightning or water and the ape as guardian spirit. Then do strong, strong, strong into demon dance and pulverize in mid stance. Strong will add purity and pulverize discords them
Nice. I'm going to respec to throwables. I'm specced into paralysis stuff right now, which is good against the stuff that it works on, but it's not nearly as good as this, since my melee damage is garbage.

Would the build still work, when you haven`t unlocked Teahouse/Clans yet? Or the dojo-mission for storm-kunai and the other advanced skills? I am only at level 53 and at the beginning of region 2, so would respeccing make sense?
it'll be slow without that stuff for sure. this build has mountains and plateaus, you're gonna get spikes of dmg, and then you're gonna be dealing meh dmg, as you wait for the next upgrade, whether it be storm kunai, whether it be mystic art, whether it be flaying kato set, and/or kunai dmg inheritables on all gear. that said my walkthrough i pretty much used this type of build from start to end, so I'd say yes, it'll be time to switch, and in fact you want to switch early to work on ninjutsu proficiency, to unlock those power boost as they come. just use kusa mainly for dmg while wasting your ninjutsu as much as you can. start using omnyo often as well. could also equip a sword for the occasional skill as the final form of this build uses sword or spear, not kusa.
what stats would u aim for at level 100 ? i see your stats at 63 but im level 80 at mo and havent but any more stat points in, as would like to know what i should continue to put in many thanks. amazing build love it so much
question: i know im late but do armor stats matter in nioh? because i know in dark souls it matters a bit but you can basically wear whatever you want and still be ok #fashionsouls. is nioh the same way?
it matters a shit ton, to reaching dmg like this anyhow. thankfully, unlike dark souls, you can simply refashion your gear to look as fashionable as you want. refashion copies the look of one gear you have to apply to another one you got/wearing, in the blacksmith.

Did you have to temper with quality umbracite to get some of those rolls because I cant get one or two abilities and I'm wondering if I need quality umbracite?
sure. some rolls appear way more often in quality/divine, than normal. untouched can only roll on gloves/chest. ninjutsu power is on all pieces. and kunai dmg % is only on gloves. ng+ divine armor gets inheritables and thats how you put it on other pieces.

ive been rocking the tonfa and ninjutsu build so far. almost done with the second region. iga bombs/poison shuriken makes quick work of most enemies.

Kunai build is nice if u have enough kunai, but iga set cannot retrieve it anymore

There's a guardian cat spirit you get later that boosts thrown weapons, would assume it works for Kunal. Think it's called nekomata
i used the spirit a while, but because i use the guardian talisman to get a element fast on a enemy for the Chaos state i switched back to the Bird.
Pro tip: you can cancel the animation of the feathers with feral counter.

I went for something I didn't do in Nioh 1; magic. I found the Shots particularly fast and powerful. Only 2 to 3 shots and a powerful enemy can get burned/broken/slowed which makes it not much of a threat. I struggle a bit with bosses, but it's been fun for me so far. I'm at the third chapter too.
Damage from behind works for everything. While it doesn’t have the fancy backstab animation of the Souls games, you should always try to get behind enemies as a result.
Nice to see the good ol Storm Kunai make a return to continue its reign of terror from Nioh 1.
This game is HARD for me! And I’ve beaten all the dark souls and bloodbourne. As a result, I’m running a fuma build at around level 40 and STILL find this game difficult. Seriously, this game is no joke.
I suck at Bloodborne, am okay at Dark Souls and find Nioh 2 way easier than those games. May just be a difference in niche.
FrankySaint Really?? I found Bloodborne to be the PERFECT mix of difficulty for me. Just hard enough. Nioh 2 seems at least twice as hard as bloodborne to me. I fear EVERY single Yokai encounter....even after learning their patterns!! Very interesting....
@@obabas80 Soulsborne titles feel stiff for me because I grew up on hack-n-slash action games like God of War and Ninja Gaiden. For me, Nioh is just another Ninja Gaiden with RPG stats and a stamina bar. It really all comes down to what mechanics you're used to.

I've been progressing with a setup designed for building up Anima as fast as possible and stomping enemies with Yokai abilities. So far it's been pretty good. Doesn't put up the same numbers as this, no way, but I'm also not using any consumables to keep it running and can trounce any encounter I come across if I lean into the build. It's been a lot of fun.
January 2023, I've found a few items with the inherit thingy you mentioned. For example the Bow Damage stat is inheritable on my Chinzei Hachiro (purple quality) bow

Has this been changed at all in the current patch of the game? It seems to me like ninjutsu power and %kunai damage don't stack on the same item. Everytime I test my kunai damage with and without a piece of gear that has both bonuses I only seem to be missing the higher of the two in my damage, i.e. the %kunai damage. It's like the game applies the higher of the 2 dmg bonuses but doesn't add them, so not sure about the ninjutsu power being worrh 0.5% damage and/or if it's worth tempering along %kunai damage.
I have no idea why, but I do like 10% of his damage having almost identical gear.
He uses the omnyo magic to low the defense of the enemy,also he atack from the back,that do crazy damage,you must have done something diffent from him.
This is pretty much what I did for nioh 1. Go ninja with the kusarigama and unload on bosses with bombs and kunai while poking from a distance with the weapon and running circles around them.

I may be missremembering, but I think on Nioh 1 you didnt have armor inheritables until ng+ because only divine armor had familiarity which is what let you transfer that inheritable.

The early stages are painful without any builds.
especially for some weapons. they nerfed dmg across the board because of the added burst counter and yokai skill mechanic, so you have to resort to something like this or high dmg % from paralysis/poison to actually do "good" damage.
I haven't had an issue. I spent the $100 however on the Delux and Season pass. So I got the bonus sets. Wore them one was heavy then other light. Simply went with weps I knew (Axe Odachi) when it doubt tank and spank. Even more so since if you can time your attacks well they do massive ki damage. Just Ki puls that stam bar back like a boss. However it's been slow going. Only secound reagon almost third. So this looks exciting cant wait to try it out.
I hope they won't nerf Tonfa's damage since they are insanely good right now.

One thing to note. Book of Recon. Dose not reset your skills. Bought out used it to set up and try the Ninja build. Only for it to not reset my skills tree at all. So yeah that sucks lol

I've followed this build at level 75 almost to a tee. The only thing I'm missing is the backstab damage bonus as I've tried tempering for hours and never gotten it on my tonfas. However, I don't do even half of the damage you do to bosses and enemies. Any advice on what I'm missing here?

I've been having an incredibly easy time with tonfas. basically, i just get all my stats and poor them into courage, with some in magic and hp. Get the heaviest armor possible and just put enough stamina to make sure it doesn't go over 100% Then get all your gear to have guarding reduced ki and shit tons of defense and toughness. See and enemy? just hold down block and never ever hit that dodge button again. Once they run out of ki or dont attack, just hit em with a strong attack combo, ki pulse, then go back to blocking, assuming they aren't downed. Enemy bursts don't even need to get blocked as they barely do 1/5th of your health, but still try to mess up their ki, if you miss though no real worry, and draining ki from your enemies to perform constant downed attacks is the tonfa MO. High block, high break, a super tank that never needs to dodge. Get brute counter cause even if you don't time it right and take some damage, so will the enemy and their burst and ki will get ruined regardless. Definitely the easiest build in the game by far. Have only died a handful of times, mostly just from me being a moron, I'm halfway through the game, no real grinding needed, and this is my first souls like game I've ever played, and this build can support noobs like me super well. For magic just get and max barrier, and then get and max purification, then a few elemental boosts against bosses you're struggling with. Its basically just to help kill yokai as its kinda slow, but tonfas make fighting any human opponent a fucking joke
That sounds too good to be true 😃 so do you have agility C? First difficulty of nioh games is always a pain in the ass and these bosses are such a fucking headache. I may try your build
did storm kunai or weakness talisman get nerfed? i can only deal 600 damage to obsidian samurai in the first clip using the exact same setup as you, meanwhile you deal 1100 damage.

The tonfa discord build i'm running is pretty op too. I literally discord every enemy in one combo or he dies on the way. Definitely more fun than pressing 1 button the entire game, but great build nonetheless!

@@PhanTasmGoriA no need for talismans. All you need is a custom skill on your demon dance like lightning or water and the ape as guardian spirit. Then do strong, strong, strong into demon dance and pulverize in mid stance. Strong will add purity and pulverize discords them

U can roll shuriken and kuni damage onto armor and accessories. Its rarer but possible

Would the build still work, when you haven`t unlocked Teahouse/Clans yet? Or the dojo-mission for storm-kunai and the other advanced skills? I am only at level 53 and at the beginning of region 2, so would respeccing make sense?
it'll be slow without that stuff for sure. this build has mountains and plateaus, you're gonna get spikes of dmg, and then you're gonna be dealing meh dmg, as you wait for the next upgrade, whether it be storm kunai, whether it be mystic art, whether it be flaying kato set, and/or kunai dmg inheritables on all gear. that said my walkthrough i pretty much used this type of build from start to end, so I'd say yes, it'll be time to switch, and in fact you want to switch early to work on ninjutsu proficiency, to unlock those power boost as they come. just use kusa mainly for dmg while wasting your ninjutsu as much as you can. start using omnyo often as well. could also equip a sword for the occasional skill as the final form of this build uses sword or spear, not kusa.
I might use this to get going in the build till i get leval up some abs then respec
what stats would u aim for at level 100 ? i see your stats at 63 but im level 80 at mo and havent but any more stat points in, as would like to know what i should continue to put in many thanks. amazing build love it so much
question: i know im late but do armor stats matter in nioh? because i know in dark souls it matters a bit but you can basically wear whatever you want and still be ok #fashionsouls. is nioh the same way?
it matters a shit ton, to reaching dmg like this anyhow. thankfully, unlike dark souls, you can simply refashion your gear to look as fashionable as you want. refashion copies the look of one gear you have to apply to another one you got/wearing, in the blacksmith.

Probably a dumb question but does the shuriken damage boost on the skill tree effect the kunai as well?
TL;DW -- Use Fuma gear, min/max for Dexterity and Ninjustu Power, get Weakness Talismans, kill bosses with Storm Kunai.
Did you have to temper with quality umbracite to get some of those rolls because I cant get one or two abilities and I'm wondering if I need quality umbracite?
sure. some rolls appear way more often in quality/divine, than normal. untouched can only roll on gloves/chest. ninjutsu power is on all pieces. and kunai dmg % is only on gloves. ng+ divine armor gets inheritables and thats how you put it on other pieces.
